Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) analysis detected diverse AHL profiles among the 11 AHL positive isolates with both substituted and unsubstituted acyl side chains of C4, C6 and C8 carbon. Further, AHL production in Acinetobacter lactucae, Aeromonas popoffii, Serratia oryzae, and Rhizobium wuzhouense is being reported for the first time. Detection of diverse AHLs from different groups of rhizobacteria associated with rice indicates that these signalling molecules may be involved in the regulation of rhizobacterial behaviour and symbiotic plant-microbe interactions. check details Future research on the role of AHLs in trans-kingdom communication particularly plant-microbe interaction using synthetic microbial community will enable in evaluating and developing potential plant specific bioproducts.Irrigation water could be a direct source of pathogenic microorganisms that contaminates fresh produce and causes human diseases. In this study, we evaluated the prevalence of Salmonella spp. and its serotypes Typhimurium and Enteritidis, antimicrobial susceptibility and multidrug resistance (MDR) status, and seasonal variation, of Salmonella spp. in irrigation water of King Abdullah Canal (KAC) and Wadi Shueib (WS) in Jordan. The study results demonstrated that 32.2% (29/90) of irrigation water was contaminated with Salmonella spp. and the irrigation water of WS was found highly contaminated (62.1%) with Salmonella spp. compared to KAC (37.9%). In addition, higher prevalence of Salmonella were recorded in spring (33.3%) and summer (36.3%) seasons, compared to winter seasons. Among the contaminated irrigation water samples, prevalence of Salmonella Typhimurium serotype was found in (37.9%) (11/29) samples, while S. Enteritidis was absent. The most common antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella isolates was observed as tetracycline (11/29, 37.9%) and 6 (20.7%) Salmonella Typhimurium isolates were found multidrug resistance (MDR). Thus, this study results confirmed that the irrigation water was contaminated with pathogenic MDR Salmonella spp. After the publication of our article [1] we were made aware that in Fig. 2D the images for PMA 2.5 ng/ml and PMA 25 ng/ml are identical.

COVID-19-associated coagulopathy (CAC) characterized by the elevated D-dimer without remarkable changes of other global coagulation markers is associated with various thrombotic complications and disease severity. The purpose of this review is to elucidate the pathophysiology of this unique coagulopathy.

The authors performed online search of published medical literature through PubMed using the MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) term "COVID-19," "SARS-CoV-2," "coronavirus," "coagulopathy," and "thrombus." Then, selected 51 articles that closely relevant to coagulopathy in COVID-19.

The primary targets of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) are the pneumocytes, immune cells, and vascular endothelial cells. The alveolar damage and the pulmonary microvascular thrombosis are the major causes of acute lung injury in COVID-19. The endotheliopathy that occurs is due to direct SARS-CoV-2 infection and activation of other pathways that include the immune system and thromboinflammatory resplammation is necessary to improve the outcome of this highly detrimental contagious disease.

To evaluate the effect of circular polarization (CP) and elliptical polarization (EP) of the B

field on metal implant-induced artifacts of titanium (Ti) and cobalt-chromium (CoCr) hip arthroplasty implants at 1.5-T and 3.0-T field strengths.

In vitro Ti and CoCr total hip arthroplasty implants were evaluated using high transmit and receive bandwidth turbo spin echo (HBW-TSE) and slice encoding for metal artifact correction (SEMAC) metal artifact reduction techniques. Each technique was implemented at 1.5-T, which only allows for CP of B

field as the system default, as well as 3.0-T, which permitted CP and EP. Manual segmentation quantified the size of the metal artifacts at the level of the acetabular cup, femoralneck, and femoral shaft.

In the acetabular cup and femoral neck, 1.5-T CP achieved smaller artifact sizes than 3.0-T CP (28-29% on HBW-TSE, p = 0.002-0.005; 17-34% on SEMAC, p = 0.019-0.102) and 3.0-T EP (25-28% on HBW-TSE, p = 0.010-0.011; 14-36% on SEMAC, p = 0.058-0.135) techniques. In the femoral stem region, 3.0-T EP achieved more efficient artifact suppression than 3.0-T CP (HBW-TSE 44-45%, p < 0.001-0.022; SEMAC 76-104%, p < 0.001-0.022) and 1.5-T CP (HBW-TSE 76-96%, p < 0.001-0.003; SEMAC 138-173%, p = 0.003-0.005) techniques.

Despite slightly superior metal reduction ability of the 1.5-T in the region of the acetabular cup and prosthesis neck, 3.0-T MRI of hip arthroplasty implants using elliptically polarized RF pulses may overall be more effective in reducing metal artifacts than the current standard 1.5-T MRI techniques, which by default implements circularly polarized RF pulses.

To determine the normal depth of the medial femoral sulcus on lateral radiographs of the knee and determine if abnormal deepening of the medial femoral sulcus exists as a radiographic indicator of intra-articular knee abnormalities.

A retrospective search was performed over a period of 10years to identify all individuals with a bone contusion of the anterior medial femoral condyle at MR imaging. Study patients had documented acute knee injuries and radiographs 6weeks or less prior to their MR. A control group had normal MR exams and radiographs 6weeks or less prior to their MR. Two fellowship-trained musculoskeletal radiologists independently measured the depth of the medial femoral sulcus on lateral radiographs blinded to control or study individuals.

The study group consisted of 76 patients (57 men, 19 women; age range, 18-50years; mean age, 27years) and 92 control patients (33 men, 59 women; age range, 18-46years; mean age 26years). Sulcus depth was (0-2.3mm reader 1 and 0-1.7mm reader 2 for controls; 0-2.
