Results show a 25-fold enhancement in peak current densities mediated by an Fc/Fc+ redox couple for an IZO-coated electrode in comparison with bare electrodes; this is afforded by the porous morphology of the IZO film and the enhanced binding efficiency of FcCOOH on the IZO film. We demonstrate that it is the polymer phase separation process, rather than silica-polymer interactions, which controls silica precipitation. Since ionic strength controls this electrostatic phase separation, it can be used to tune the morphology and structure of the precipitates. In situ cryo electron microscopy highlights the pivotal role of the hydrated polymer condensates in this process. These results pave the road for developing nanoscale morphologies of bioinspired silica based on the chemistry of liquid-liquid phase separation.

Nodular regenerative hyperplasia (NRH) is a rare condition characterized clinically by the development of non-cirrhotic portal hypertension. NRH is the histopathological result in the liver of various systemic disease processes including autoimmune disorders, haematological malignancies and medications. However, natural history of this condition has been limited to small case series while patient outcomes pertaining to different aetiologies of NRH are largely unknown.

A retrospective cohort of consecutive patients diagnosed with pathology-confirmed NRH at Mayo Clinic between 2002 and 2017 was identified. The histological diagnosis of NRH was determined by expert liver pathologists. Patients with metastatic liver disease, history of liver transplantation or younger than 18 were excluded. Potential aetiologies of NRH were classified as haematological, rheumatological, drug-associated, miscellaneous or idiopathic. A randomized, single-blind, split-face controlled study including 22 patients with erythemato telangiectatic rosacea were enrolled. Both cheeks were randomly divided into experimental group and control group. They were treated three times with an interval of 1 month. In the first treatment, the experimental group received BBL treatment and intradermal injection of BTX, and the control group received BBL treatment and intradermal injection of the same amount of normal saline; in the second and third treatments were both groups received the same BBL treatment. The patients were evaluated before the first treatment and 1, 2, 3, and 6 months after the treatment. Compared with the control group, the hydration in the experimental group increased and the global flushing symptom score (GFSS), VISIA red value, erythema index, transepidermal water loss, and sebum secretion decreased. The differences were statistically significant (p  less then  0.05). The DN was initiated to the Wistar rats via administering 45 mg/kg of STZ and then diabetic animals were supplemented with 50 mg/kg of ponicidin and 150 mg/kg of metformin (standard drug) for 8 weeks. The levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, oxidative stress and antioxidant markers, and pro-inflammatory cytokines were examined using assay kits. The levels of lipid profiles and renal function markers were investigated using respective kits. The renal tissues were analyzed microscopically to detect the histological alterations. The ponicidin treatment effectively decreased the body weight, food intake, HOMA-IR, and HbAlc levels in the DN animals.
