Background To share our experience with hollow viscus migration of artificial vascular grafts (AVG) used for venous reconstruction of the right anterior sector in living donor liver transplantations (LDLT).Methods Clinical, radiological, and endoscopic data of 13 right lobe LDLT patients (range 26-67 years) with a diagnosis of postoperative AVG migration into adjacent hollow viscus were analyzed.Results Biliary complications were detected in 12 patients. A median of four times endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures were performed in 11 patients prior to AVG migration diagnosis. A median of 2.5 times various percutaneous radiological interventional procedures were performed in eight patients prior to AVG migration diagnosis. The site of migration was the duodenum in eight patients, gastric antrum in four, and Roux limb in the remaining one patient. The migrated AVS were made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in 10 patients and polyethylene terephthalate (Dacron) in three. The migrated AVGs were endoscopically removed in seven patients and surgically removed in six. Only one patient died due to sepsis unrelated to AVG migration.Conclusion AVG migration into the adjacent hollow viscus following right lobe LDLT is a rare and serious complication. Repetitive ERCP, interventional radiological procedures, infection related to biliary leakage, and thrombosis of AVGs are among the possible risk factors.Introduction Conventional abdominoperineal resection (APR) has a high rate of local recurrence. Extralevator abdominoperineal excision (ELAPE) can potentially diminish the rate of intraoperative tumour perforation (IOTP) and can provide wider circumferential resection margins (CRM) but at the price of higher perineal complication rate. The aim of our study was to compare the short term results of conventional APR to ELAPE.Materials and methods Thirty-five consecutively operated APRs compared to 38 also consecutively operated ELAPEs. Prospectively collected short-term outcome data were analysed retrospectively.Results There was no difference in demographics, disease stage or tumour location between groups. IOTP rate and CRM positivity rates were similar between the two groups (p = .608). No difference was found in major (Clavien-Dindo III-V) complications, but we found statistically significant difference in minor (Clavien-Dindo I-II) complications (p = .01) in favour of the ELAPE group. Frequency of perineal SSI was lower in ELAPE group, but the difference was not significant (p = .320). Intraoperative iatrogenic complications occurred at significantly lower rate in ELAPE group (p = .035). Also, postoperative morbidity connected with the dissection in the perineal phase (e.g. learn more urine incontinence, urinary retention) was significantly lower (p = .018) after ELAPE.Discussion and conclusions In our experience ELAPE operations may diminish the rate of Clavien-Dindo I-II complications compared to conventional APR. The psychometric properties of the SIOLD were tested using a sample of 754 children attending Year 1 of preschool. Thirty-two teachers coming from eight different schools completed individual questionnaires for all their students. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to assess the validity of the SIOLD. Using receiver operating characteristic and precision recall curves, we assessed th are discussed.Women who experience intimate partner violence (IPV) face multiple barriers to seeking help from community resources, but little research has examined the impact of ecological influences on community resource utilisation among women living in low- and middle-income countries. The current study investigated individual-, relationship-, family-, and community-level influences on community resource utilisation among Mexican women experiencing IPV. Using baseline data from 950 women in Mexico City enrolled in a clinic-based randomised controlled trial, multilevel regressions were performed to assess associations between socioecological factors and women's community resource utilisation. 41.3% women used at least one resource. At the individual-level, every additional resource that women were aware of, was associated with a 20% increase in the total number of resources used (p less then .001). Every additional lethal risk factor was associated with a 5% increase in the total number of resources used (p = .004). At the family-level, women who reported having an in-law encourage IPV used 46% more resources (p less then .001). Many jurisdictions in the United States have therefore accelerated release of low-risk offenders. Early release, however, does not address how arrest and pre-trial detention practices may be contributing to disease spread. Using data from Cook County Jail, in Chicago, Illinois, one of the largest known nodes of SARS-CoV-2 spread, we analyze the relationship between jailing practices and community infections at the zip-code level. We find that jail cycling is a significant predictor of SARS-CoV-2 infection, accounting for 55 percent of the variance in case rates across zip codes in Chicago and 37 percent in Illinois. By comparison, jail cycling far exceeds race, poverty, public transit utilization, and population density as a predictor of variance. The data suggest that cycling through Cook County Jail alone is associated with 15.7 percent of all documented novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Illinois and 15.9 percent in Chicago as of April 19, 2020.
