People with social anxiety disorder (SAD) frequently report interpersonal problems across various domains; however, it is unclear whether these problems are observable by others or represent negatively biased self-report. We assessed the interpersonal problems of people with and without SAD using self-report, friend, and romantic partner report. We hypothesized that SAD diagnosis would predict self-reported problems across multiple interpersonal domains, but restricted domains of informant report. Additionally, we hypothesized that diagnosis would predict discrepancy between self and informant report either in the form of a bias toward reporting more problems or in the form of lack of concordance between self and informant reporters. Using structural equation and multilevel models, we found evidence for differences between people with and without SAD in terms of domains of impairment observed by self and informants as well as differences in correspondence across relationship types. Results highlight the utility of multi-informant assessment of SAD.The management of food waste has been considered an extremely important issue since the 1990s but finding efficient solutions for small and rural communities is still challenging. Anaerobic digestion (AD) may provide interesting opportunities in terms of carbon emissions and economic payback in the long term, but the choice of the correct technology and the spatial scale requires attention. The focus of this study is on a small rural municipality, which is selected as a case study to assess the environmental and economic sustainability of the application of two options for AD (a conventional and an alternative wet process) and two spatial scales (municipality and a consortium of municipalities). Both the AD configurations are examined in terms of biogas exploitation, through a combined heat and power generator, and in combination with a post-composting stage of the digestate. From economic and environmental perspectives, the consortium-scale application of the conventional wet process is expected to generate greater benefits in the long term, as it enables 80% more electric energy production and economic revenues/savings, and avoids carbon emissions. However, before selecting the technology, decision makers should consider the public acceptance of local communities (e.g., the susceptibility to the "not-in-my-backyard" syndrome), as the best technical-economical solution may not be the most appropriate to specific communities. The methodology developed in this paper and the discussion of the results will inform decision makers about how to identify the most appropriate alternative for their purposes.Enhanced Landfill Mining (ELFM) is a powerful tool for the sustainable management of landfill sites, aiming at both land reclamation and material recovery/reuse. To enhance the recovery and recycling rate of excavated plastic fractions, in most cases destined to energy recovery, new convenient, effective and sustainable strategies are needed. In this study, a recovery and valorization process of ELFM excavated plastics has been validated through an integrated experimental and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach, demonstrating the environmental sustainability of the secondary raw material generated, in terms of use of resources and emissions generated. In particular, the secondary granulate from ELFM was compared with a virgin product and the last one resulted to have a higher impact (more than 4.46 times greater than the first one), in particular for the use of the resource crude oil as raw material in the production of primary LDPE. The valorization process of the excavated plastic made the mechanical properties of the secondary raw material comparable to that of a primary material.Mycoplasma synoviae is one of the economically most significant avian Mycoplasma species. It can cause great financial losses to the poultry industry by inducing respiratory diseases, infectious synovitis, or eggshell apex abnormalities. There are different approaches to control M. synoviae infection. Although antimicrobial therapy cannot replace long-term solutions, like eradication and vaccination, this strategy can be effective in the short term, as adequate antibiotic treatment can relieve economic losses through the attenuation of clinical signs and reduction of transmission. Using broth microdilution method, minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) values to fourteen antibiotics related to eight antimicrobial groups were determined in 96 M. synoviae strains. PTC-209 Whole genome sequencing and sequence analysis revealed mutations potentially associated with decreased susceptibility to fluoroquinolones, macrolides and lincomycin. Molecular markers responsible for the high MICs to fluoroquinolones were found in the gyrA, gyrB, parC and parE genes. Besides, single nucleotide polymorphisms identified in genes encoding the 23S rRNA were found to be responsible for high MICs to the 50S inhibitor macrolides and lincomycin, while amino acid change in the 50S ribosomal protein L22 could be associated with decreased susceptibility to macrolides. The revealed mutations can contribute to the extension of knowledge about the genetic background of antibiotic resistance in M. synoviae. Moreover, the explored potentially resistance-related mutations may serve as targets for molecular biological assays providing data of antibiotic susceptibility prior to the laborious and time-consuming isolation of M. synoviae strains.Marek's disease (MD) vaccines are unique in their capability to prevent MD lymphomas as early as a few days after vaccination, despite the fact that they do not eliminate virulent viruses from the host. To help understand the mechanism behind this unique MD vaccine effect, we compared the expression of MDV oncoprotein Meq among CD4+ T cells between vaccinated and unvaccinated birds. Chickens were vaccinated by an MD vaccine, herpesvirus of turkeys, and then challenged by a recombinant virulent MDV that expresses green fluorescent protein simultaneously with Meq. We found significantly fewer Meq-expressing CD4+ T cells appeared in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of the vaccinated birds compared to the unvaccinated birds as early as one week after the virulent virus challenge. In contrast, the quantity of virulent MDV genome remained similar in Meq- PBMC in both vaccinated and unvaccinated birds. Our results suggest that MD vaccination affects the dynamics of Meq-expressing, possibly transformed, cells while impact on the overall infection in the Meq- cells was not significant.
