The southern Galician rias were identified as the main hotspots of macroalgal invasion, with a high probability of occurrence for most of the species considered. Conversely, the probability of presence on the Portuguese coast was generally low. Physico-chemical variables were the most important factors for predicting the distribution of invasive macroalgae contributing between 57.27 and 85.24% to the ensemble models. However, anthropogenic factors (including size of vessels, number of shipping lines, distance from ports, population density, etc.) considerably improved the estimates of the probability of occurrence for most of the target species. This study is one of the few to include anthropogenic factors in SDMs for invasive macroalgae. The findings suggest that management actions aimed at controlling these species should strengthen control and surveillance at ports, particularly in southern Galician rias. In this study, drug repurposing strategies were followed to repositioning of a series of B-RAF V600E imidazol-5-yl pyridine inhibitors to inhibit P38α kinase. A group 25 reported P38α kinase inhibitors were used to build a pharmacophore model for mapping the target compounds and proving their affinity for binding in P38α active site. Target compounds were evaluated for their potency against P38α kinase, compounds 11a and 11d were the most potent inhibitors (IC50 = 47 nM and 45 nM, respectively). In addition, compound 11d effectively inhibited the production of proinflammatory cytokinesTNF-α, 1L-6, and 1L-1β in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages with IC50 values of 78.03 nM, 17.6 µM and 82.15 nM, respectively. The target compounds were tested for their anti-inflammatory activity by detecting the reduction of Nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin (PGE2) production in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages. Compound 11d exhibited satisfied inhibitory activity of the production of PGE2 and NO with IC50 values of 0.29 µM and 0.61 µM, respectively. Nosiheptide (NOS) has excellent lethality against a variety of Gram-positive bacteria, however the physical and chemical drawbacks hamper its routine application in clinical practice. In this study, by using NOS as the starting material, a total of 15 NOS analogues (2a-4e) were semi-synthesized via its dehydroalanine residue reacting with monosubstituted anilines. In vitro antimicrobial susceptibilities of NOS and its analogues against two methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE) clinical isolates were determined by broth microdilution assay to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). Antimicrobial susceptibility testing data shown that most of the NOS analogues had a better antibacterial effect than the parent compound, with compound 3c exhibiting the highest antibacterial activity against VRE (MIC = 0.0078 mg/L) and MRSA (MIC less then 0.0039 mg/L). Molecular docking of synthetic compounds was also performed to verify the binding interactions of NOS analogues with the target. Our data indicated that compound 3c possesses stronger and more complex intermolecular force than other analogues, which is consistent with the results of the biological activity evaluation. These compounds have been screened against a panel of eight mammalian kinases and in parallel they were tested for cytotoxicity on a representative panel of seven cancer cell lines. One of them (DB18) has been found to be a very potent inhibitor of human "CDC2-like kinases" CLK1, CLK2 and CLK4, with IC50 values in the 10-30 nM range. Interestingly, this molecule is inactive at 100 μM on the closely related "dual-specificity tyrosine-regulated kinase 1A" (DYRK1A). This review covers 182 natural linear or macrocyclic diarylheptanoids described in the period of 1982 to 2020 with anti-inflammatory activities evaluated using quantified in vitro and/or in vivo assays. All of these data highlight the pharmacological potential of these natural compounds to act as anti-inflammatory drugs.Episodic memory is typically thought of as the memory system that makes possible mental time travel through subjective time. This may serve an important function in allowing us to use recent dietary information to predict future food needs and integrate this information with current food availability to adapt motivation accordingly. Growing evidence has suggested that episodic memory influences and is influenced by obesity. However, there is limited available evidence on the characteristics of episodic memory for food and non-food cues in people with obesity. The present study attempts to address this association and apply an episodic memory task to evaluate item memory and source memory for food and non-food cues in females with obesity. Participants were 26 females with obesity and 30 females with healthy weight, who were undergraduate students aged 17-24 years. They completed the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire, hunger visual analog scale, fullness visual analog scale, desire-to-eat visual analog scale, and an episodic memory task including item memory and source memory. Results showed that the episodic memory patterns of females with and without obesity changed according to the type of stimuli. Specifically, females with obesity outperformed females with healthy weight in item memory for food cues, but showed deficits in item memory for non-food cues and source memory for both food and non-food cues. Taken together, based on the obesity and suboptimal food-related decision theoretical model, these findings are of great theoretical and clinical significance to explore episodic memory pattern differences between people with and without obesity.During the initial peak of the COVID-19 crisis, for the approximately 6 weeks beginning on April 8, 2020 and continuing through mid-May 2020, our academic radiology department shifted all nonprocedural operations to a "Command Center" model. This intervention was designed to maximize faculty and resident safety while continuing to provide prompt radiology care to our patients and support to front-line clinicians. During this time most of our radiology faculty and residents worked remotely. The five on-site residents were stationed together in a single large reading room where they worked as generalists, supervised by remote faculty. This room became the hub of all clinical communications. This brief report describes this experience, reviewing what was done and what was learned.

Hirschsprung-associated enterocolitis (HAEC) is a serious potential complication after primary pull-through surgery for Hirschsprung's disease (HSCR). Administration of anal botulinum toxin (BT) injection may improve obstructive symptoms at the internal anal sphincter, leading to improved fecal passage. The timing of administration and effects on delay or prevention of HAEC are unknown. We hypothesized that BT administration increased the postoperative time to HAEC and aimed to investigate whether anal BT administration after primary pull-through surgery for HSCR is associated with increased time to inpatient HAEC admission development.

We performed a retrospective cohort study examining children with HSCR at US children's hospitals from 2008 to 2018 using the Pediatric Health Information System database with an associated primary pull-through operation performed before 60d of age. The intervention assessed was the administration of BT concerning the timing of primary pull-through, and two groups were ided to determine the effect on HAEC occurrence and timing.

The use of perforator propeller flaps in lower limb reconstruction has increased recently. Many pharmacological agents are used to increase flap viability. Botulinum toxin has been used in various types of flaps in the literature. However, there is no study regarding the use of botulinum toxin in the lower limb propeller flaps. This study investigates the effect of botulinum toxin administration on flap survival for lower limb propeller flap in rats.

The study included 20 male Wistar albino rats, divided into two groups with a flap rotation of 90° in group 1 and 180° in group 2. In both groups, botulinum toxin was administered to the right thigh and a physiological saline solution was applied to the left thigh. Five days later, flaps were elevated over the posterior aspect of the right and left thighs and inset after 90° and 180° rotation was performed. Histopathological, immunohistochemical, and necrosis area analyses were performed.

Necrosis area, edema, polymorphonuclear leukocyte infiltration, and necrosis were found to be higher on the left side of the groups, whereas epidermal thickness, collagen density, vascularization, and hair root density were found to be higher on the right side of the groups. No significant difference was found between the right posterior thighs in either group on any parameter other than vascularization. Histopathologically and immunochemically statistically significant differences were found between the two groups.

Sixty million Americans live in rural America, with roughly 17.5% of the rural population being 65y or older. Outcomes and costs of Medicare beneficiaries undergoing hepatopancreatic surgery at critical access hospitals (CAHs) are not known.

Medicare files were used to identify patients who underwent hepatopancreatic resection. Outcomes were compared (CAHs versus non-CAHs).

Patients undergoing hepatopancreatic surgery at non-CAHs versus CAHs had a similar comorbidity score (4 versus 5, P=0.53). After adjusting for patient-level factors and procedure-specific volume, there was no difference in complication rate (adjusted odds ratio (aOR) 0.80, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.52-1.24). The median cost of hospitalization was roughly $4000 less at CAHs than that at non-CAHs (P<0.001). However, compared with patients undergoing surgery at non-CAHs, beneficiaries operated at CAHs had more than two times the odds of dying within 30 (aOR 2.45, 95% CI 1.42-4.2) and 90d (aOR 2.28, 95% CI 1.4-3.71).
