Coronavirus disease 2019 continues to increase throughout the United States. Despite the rapid progression of the disease, there is limited information of the factors associated with mortality in Florida. This study aims to review the demographics, characteristics, comorbidities, complications, and outcomes of hospitalized patients, and their association with mortality.

The plasma level of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide is regulated by sex hormones. It has been controversial whether N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide is a prognosis marker for sepsis. The aim of this study is to examine the sex-dependent association of plasma N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide with organ dysfunction and mortality of sepsis patients.
