To analyze the perception of gynecologic examination from the patients' point of view.

This anonymous electronic cross-sectional survey aimed to evaluate the subjective experiences of women during gynecologic examinations (levels of pain, embarrassment and trauma), the manner the examination was conducted, and women's suggestions for improving their experience.

Overall, 6,508 women answered the survey. The examination was considered an embarrassing event by 47%, painful by 35% and traumatic by 19%. Importantly, only 43% of the respondents stated they would notify the gynecologist in case of physical discomfort or pain during the examination. The quality of physician-to-patient communication was rated as the most important aspect of gynecologic examination, and showed a significant association with the general quality of the experience (levels of pain, embarrassment, and trauma). Matters relating to women's privacy during gynecologic examination were also considered important. An option for a companion was rated as important by 64% of the respondents. Significant differences with large effect-sizes were found between the respondents' preferences and their reports of the observed situation.

The findings highlight the need for establishing guidelines for gynecologic examinations, according to a patient-centered care approach. The conserved multiple HLA-DR-binding epitopes of Rev protein were identified using IEDB MHC-I prediction tools and SYFPEITHI webserver to screen potential T-cell epitopes. We analyzed toxicity, allergenicity, immunogenicity, hemolytic activity, cross-reactivity, cell-penetrating peptide (CPP) potency, and molecular docking of the candidate epitopes using several immune-informatics tools. Afterward, we designed a novel multiepitope construct based on non-toxic and non-allergenic Rev, Nef, Gp160 and P24-derived cytotoxic T cell (CTL) and T-helper cell (HTL) epitopes. Next, the designed construct (Nef-Rev-Gp160-P24) was subjected to three B-cell epitope prediction webservers, ProtParam and Protein-Sol to obtain the physicochemical features. Then, the recombinant multiepitope DNA and polypeptide constructs were complexed with different CPPs for nanoparticle formation and pass them via the cell membranes. Research points to motherhood being linked to women's victimization, with pregnancy being a particular point of risk. Across UK jurisdictions, new legislation aims to extend the criminalization of domestic abuse to include coercive control. Less clear is the relationship between mothers' victimization of different "types" of abuse and other factors such as age, socioeconomic status, and level of education. The article makes an original contribution to knowledge by addressing these limitations of the existing literature. Using nationally representative data from a Scottish longitudinal survey (N = 3,633) into children's development this article investigates the social stratification of mothers' exposure to different types of abuse, including coercive control, physical abuse, and threats. Overall, 14% of mothers report experiencing any type of domestic abuse since the birth of the study child (age 6), of which 7% experienced physical abuse. Compared to mothers in the highest income households, mothers in the lowest income quintile were far more likely to experience any form of abuse (Logistic Regression, OR = 3.55), more likely to have experienced more types of abuse and to have experienced these more often (OR = 5.54). Age had a protective effect, with mothers aged 20 or younger at most risk of abuse (OR = 2.60 compared to mothers aged 40+). Interaction effects between age and income suggested that an intersectional lens may help explain the cumulative layers of difficulty which young mothers on low incomes may find themselves in when it comes to abusive partners. The pattern of social stratification remained the same when comparing different types of abuse. Mothers of boys were more likely to experience abuse, and to experience more types of abuse, more often. We reflect on how these findings could inform existing policy interventions.
