S 2p3/2 was enriched before 800 °C, but both S 2p3/2 and S 2p5/2 were released at higher temperature. To compare the effectiveness of adding anteromedial versus posterolateral hip musculature strengthening to knee strengthening in women with patellofemoral pain (PFP).

Fifty-two women with PFP were randomized to receive either anteromedial (AMHG) or posterolateral (PLHG) hip musculature strengthening.

The primary outcomes were pain intensity by the numeric pain rating scale and function by the Anterior Knee Pain Scale in six weeks. Secondary outcomes were pain and function at six months, global perceived effect at six weeks and six months, pain in step down, isometric torque of abductors, adductors and hip rotators measured with hand-held dynamometer, and dynamic knee valgus by step down in six weeks.

Both groups showed improvement in primary outcomes; however, no differences were found between groups in pain intensity and function in six weeks and the secondary outcomes. Group x time interaction found superior gains in abductor strength in the PLHG and increase in the strength of the adductors and internal rotators in AMHG.

The aim of this study was to investigate the association between pelvic kinematics during the standing knee lift (SKL) test and low back pain (LBP) in youth floorball and basketball players.

A prospective cohort study.

Finnish elite youth female and male floorball and basketball players (n=258, mean age 15.7±1.8).

LBP resulting in time loss from practice and games was recorded over a 12-month period and verified by a study physician. Associations between LBP and sagittal plane pelvic tilt and frontal plane pelvic obliquity during the SKL test as measured at baseline were investigated. Individual training and game hours were recorded, and Cox's proportional hazard models with mixed effects were used for the analysis.

Cox analyses revealed that sagittal plane pelvic tilt and frontal plane pelvic obliquity were not associated with LBP in floorball and basketball players during the follow-up. The hazard ratios for pelvic tilt and pelvic obliquity ranged between 0.93 and 1.08 (95% CIs between 0.91 and 1.07 and 0.83 and 1.29), respectively.

People with intellectual disabilities (PWID) are over-represented in criminal justice systems globally. This over-representation reveals itself at once in the demographic make-up of prison populations, as well as those detained in police settings as suspects of crime. While it is well-established in international literature that individuals who find themselves in the latter scenario face particular challenges in negotiating the forensic formalities routinely followed by the police at the pre-trial stage of criminal proceedings on account of their impairments, the specific difficulties experienced by PWID as suspects within Ireland's criminal justice system has yet to be explained, or indeed, understood. In seeking to address this research lacuna, this paper yields an account of a qualitative study which was aimed at identifying the unique challenges which PWID face in their interactions with Law Enforcement Officials (LEOs) in Ireland.

Determination of SARS-CoV-2 RNA by rRT-PCR sometimes results in an inconclusive test result due to a high cycle threshold-value. We retrospectively analyzed 30,851 SARS-CoV-2 rRT-PCR test results. Borderline positivity was considered as the presence of ≤25 viral copies per milliliter, while no amplification was considered as a negative test result. Of all test results, 204 were answered as borderline, of which 107 were accompanied by a follow-up test within 96 hours. Of the 107 follow-up samples, 10 (9.35%) were found positive for SARS-CoV-2. COVID-19 symptoms were not predictive for testing positive in the follow-up test. The positive SARS-CoV-2 samples in the follow-up group represented 0.92% of all positive test results, highlighting the need for retesting and increased hygienic measures for borderline SARS-CoV-2 patients [NCT04636294].

Roughness is an important parameter in applications where wetting needs to be characterized. Micro-computed tomography is commonly used to characterize wetting in porous media but the main limitation of this approach is the incapacity to identify nanoscale roughness. Atomic force microscopy, AFM, however, has been used to characterize the topography of surfaces down to the molecular scale. Here we investigate the potential of using AFM to characterize wetting behavior at the nanoscale.
