2 ± 3.1 kg/m2 and 316.9 mg/g. The results also showed that the equilibrium adsorption data fit well into the pseudo-first order model system, and the adsorption isotherms followed the Langmuir isotherm model, suggesting that the adsorption process was attributed to physical adsorption, and was inclined to happen on the adsorption sites with the same energy level. Finally, the thermal regeneration tests demonstrated that the binder-less briquette had a good regeneration performance and was worthy of reusing for industrial applications.Runoff from building and structure surfaces may contribute to the pollution of urban stormwater and, thereby, to the degradation of the receiving water quality. Various micropollutants have been found in surface runoff from buildings in the urban environment, including metals and organic micropollutants. Effective methods for identification of such pollutants and their sources are the prerequisites for the development of control measures. In this paper, three different methods for the identification of building surface materials acting as sources of metals (Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn), nonylphenols and phthalates are presented (i) screening of the material composition, (ii) laboratory leaching experiments with synthetic rainwater, and (iii) open-air pilot testing of material panels exposed to actual rainfall and runoff. These three methods cover a wide span of experimental aspects, including, e.g., size of material samples, resource demands, and control of influential factors. Nine materials commonly used on bing surfaces, but required relatively large financial and labour resources. Thus, the choice of the method for pollutant identification should be based on study objectives, and some benefits may be achieved using more than one method in an integrated manner; e.g., composition screening and lab or open-air leaching of targeted materials.Air quality is a social, economical, and health issue for fast-developing countries such as China. Due to the overuse of nonrenewable energy, industrialization, and the population put pressure on air quality, which seriously threatens public health and economic growth. This study focuses on air quality and also aims to investigate the short-and long-run correlation between foreign direct investment, energy consumption, domestic credit, and financial development. The Autoregressive distributed lag model and the Granger non-causality test were carried out over the period from 1985 to 2018. The main findings of this study show a positive and significant long-run impact of energy consumption on air quality. In addition, domestic credit and financial development similarly show a significant positive short-run association with air quality. Moreover, the unidirectional causality correlation running from foreign direct investment and domestic credit to air quality was concluded by the Granger non-causality test. Considering the empirical analysis, this study suggests that domestic financial institutions should offer credit to industries at a low-interest rate in order to help them to switch from non-renewable to renewable energy consumption towards the promotion of sustainable and healthy air quality.

Colonoscopy quality indicators provide measurable assessments of performance, but significant provider-level variations exist. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess whether endoscopist specialty is associated with adenoma detection rate (ADR) - the primary outcome - or cecal intubation rate (CIR), adverse event (AE) rates, and post-colonoscopy colorectal cancer (PCCRC) rates.

We searched EMBASE, Google Scholar, MEDLINE, and CENTRAL from inception to December 14, 2020. Two reviewers independently screened titles and abstracts. Citations underwent duplicate full-text review, with disagreements resolved by a third reviewer. Data were abstracted in duplicate. The DerSimonian and Laird random effects model was used to calculate pooled odds ratios (ORs) with respective 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Risk of bias was assessed using ROBINS-I.

Of 11,314 citations, 36 studies representing 3,500,832 colonoscopies were included. Compared to colonoscopies performed by gastroenterologists, those by surgeons were associated with lower ADR (OR 0.81, 95% CI 0.74 to 0.88) and lower CIR (OR 0.76, 95% CI 0.63 to 0.92). Compared to colonoscopies performed by gastroenterologists, those by other (non-gastroenterologist, non-surgeon) endoscopists were associated with lower ADR (OR 0.91, 95% CI 0.87 to 0.96), higher perforation rates (OR 3.02, 95% CI 1.65 to 5.51) and higher PCCRC rates (OR 1.23, 95% CI 1.14 to 1.33). Substantial to considerable heterogeneity existed for most analyses, and overall certainty in the evidence was low according to GRADE.

Colonoscopies performed by surgeons or other endoscopists were associated with poorer quality metrics and outcomes compared to those performed by gastroenterologists. Targeted quality improvement efforts may be warranted.

Rosette annihilates roses across North America, and to date, there is a single verified vector of the virus, Phyllocoptes fructiphilus Keifer. In direct contrast to the importance of rose for the ornamental industry there is limited knowledge on the eriophyoids that inhabit roses in North America and even less information on their vectoring capacities. This study dissects the genetic diversity of the eriophyoid fauna in rosette-affected hotspots and provides evidence of the existence of an undescribed species named Phyllocoptes arcani sp. nov., that could potentially be a second vector of the rosette virus. Background The major variant surface antigen (VSA) in Plasmodium falciparum erythrocyte membrane protein 1 (PfEMP1) encoded by var gene family has an important role in cytoadhesion/sequestration and rosetting by adhesion of uninfected erythrocytes to infected erythrocytes leading to disease severity. DBL1α domain in the PfEMP-1, protein is crucial in the cytoadhesion phenomena in P. falciparum infections and this review aims to analyse the genetic diversity of DBL1α domain sequences in PfEMP-1 from different geographical regions globally. Methods All available DBL1α sequence data was reviewed by using the electronic database PubMed, ResearchGate, Google, Google scholar, MEDLINE with the following Keywords-Plasmodium falciparum", "var gene", "DBL1α", "field isolate", "diversity", "polymorphism", "Africa", "America", "Asia" and "Caribbean" from different geographical regions across the world. Results A total of 240 studies were identified initially but only 20 studies qualified for this systematic review. The overall ratio of distinct sequences DBL1α domain was 24.62/1167 the highest in African region (33.59/766 isolates) and lowest in South America (5.6/215 isolates). In the 18 included studies, the presence of distinct DBL1α sequences was the highest in Oceania 55.32% (1186/2144) followed by Africa (38.43%), Asia (22.45%) and South America (16.48%), though the sample size in Oceania was comparatively smaller to that of Africa and South America. Conclusion This review highlights the ratio and percentage of distinct sequences of DBL1α domain of var gene in different geographical regions giving an idea of the existing diversity prevalent in this potential vaccine target gene which may contribute to designing the preventive measures towards disease severity.Triatoma dimidiata is the main vector of Trypanosoma cruzi parasites in Veracruz, Mexico, and its association with human housing appears variable. Also, in spite of a high seroprevalence of T. cruzi infection in humans, parasite transmission remains poorly understood. Therefore, we aimed to identify T. dimidiata blood feeding sources and its parasite and microbial diversity to reconstruct T. cruzi parasite transmission ecology in central Veracruz, Mexico, within a One Health/Ecohealth framework. We used a metabarcoding and deep sequencing approach of specific markers for the simultaneous identification of T. dimidiata haplogroup (ITS-2), vertebrate blood meals (12 s gene), T. cruzi parasites (mini-exon gene), and gut microbiota (bacterial 16 s). Twelve species of domestic/synanthropic animals and humans were identified as blood sources, with multiple feeding on 4.2 ± 0.4 hosts per bug. The feeding/parasite transmission network was strongly centered on humans, emphasizing a significant risk of infection. We also unambiguously confirmed the presence of TcI, TcII, TcV and TcVI DTUs in T. dimidiata, and sequences from Veracruz tended to cluster apart from parasites from other regions, suggesting some level of local differentiation. Analysis of T. dimidiata microbiota suggested that several bacterial families may be associated with the presence/absence of T. cruzi, and some of these associations may also be parasite DTU-specific. Such integrative approaches within the EcoHealth/One Health framework provide key insights on T. cruzi transmission and potential novel strategies for disease control. The 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing is a popular technique that provides accurate characterization of microbial taxonomic abundances but does not provide any functional information. Several tools are available to predict functional profiles based on 16S rRNA gene sequence data that use different genome databases and approaches. As variable regions of partially-sequenced 16S rRNA gene cannot resolve taxonomy accurately beyond the genus level, these tools may give inflated results. Here, we developed 'MicFunPred', which uses a novel approach to derive imputed metagenomes based on a set of core genes only, thereby minimizing false-positive predictions. On simulated datasets, MicFunPred showed the lowest False Positive Rate (FPR) with mean Spearman's correlation of 0.89 (SD = 0.03), while on seven real datasets the mean correlation was 0.75 (SD = 0.08). MicFunPred was found to be faster with low computational requirements and performed better or comparable when compared with other tools.Chromosomal ploidy manipulation is one of the means to create excellent germplasm. Triploid fish could provide an ideal sterile model for searching of a underlying mechanism of abnormality in meiosis. The complete understanding of the coding and noncoding RNAs regulating sterility caused by meiosis abnormality is still not well understood. By high-throughput sequencing, we compared the expression profiles of gonadal mRNA, long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), and microRNA (miRNA) at three different developmental stages between the diploid (XX) and triploid (XXX) female rainbow trout. These stages were gonads before differentiation (65 days post fertilisation, dpf), at the beginning of morphological differences (180 dpf) and showing clear difference between diploids and triploids (600 dpf), respectively. MEK inhibitor review A majority of differentially expressed (DE) RNAs were identified, and 22 DE mRNAs related to oocyte meiosis and homologous recombination were characterized. The predicted miRNA-mRNA/lncRNA networks of 3 developmental stages were constructed based on the target pairs of DE lncRNA-miRNA and DE mRNA-miRNA.
