Patients with thyroid cancer will take a small dose of 131I after undergoing a total thyroidectomy. Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) is used to diagnose whether thyroid tissue remains in the body. However, it is difficult for human eyes to observe the specificity of SPECT images in different categories, and it is difficult for doctors to accurately diagnose the residual thyroid tissue in patients based on SPECT images. At present, the research on the classification of thyroid tissue residues after thyroidectomy is still in a blank state. This paper proposes a ResNet-18 fine-tuning method based on the convolutional neural network model. First, preprocess the SPECT images to improve the image quality and remove background interference. Secondly, use the preprocessed image samples to fine-tune the pretrained ResNet-18 model to obtain better features and finally use the Softmax classifier to diagnose the residual thyroid tissue. The method has been tested on SPECT images of 446 patients collecteplication value.Although radiotherapy is given to more than 50% of cancer patients, little progress has been made in identifying optimal radiotherapy - drug combinations to improve treatment efficacy. Using molecular data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), we extracted a total of 1016 cancer patients that received radiotherapy. The patients were diagnosed with head-and-neck (HNSC - 294 patients), cervical (CESC - 166 patients) and breast (BRCA - 549 patients) cancer. We analyzed mRNA expression patterns of 50 hallmark gene sets of the MSigDB collection, which we divided in eight categories based on a shared biological or functional process. Tumor samples were split into upregulated, neutral or downregulated mRNA expression for all gene sets using a gene set analysis (GSEA) pre-ranked analysis and assessed for their clinical relevance. We found a prognostic association between three of the eight gene set categories (Radiobiological, Metabolism and Proliferation) and overall survival in all three cancer types. Furthermore, multiple single associations were revealed in the other categories considered. To the best of our knowledge, our study is the first report suggesting clinical relevance of molecular characterization based on hallmark gene sets to refine radiation strategies.

This study aimed to assess the prognostic value of the lymphocyte-C-reactive protein ratio (LCR) in patients with bladder cancer (BCa) who underwent radical cystectomy (RC).

BCa patients between 2009 and 2018 were retrieved from our medical center. The predictive value of LCR on survival of BCa patients was evaluated through the Kaplan-Meier survival and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. The multivariate Cox regression results were used for conducting the nomogram, which were further verified by ROC, decision curve analysis (DCA), and calibration curves. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed to validate our findings.

A total of 201 BCa patients who received RC were included in this study, with 62 (30.8%) patients in the low LCR group and 139 (69.2%) in the high LCR group. Multivariate analysis results revealed that the high LCR group was significantly related to better prognosis and functioned as a prognostic biomarker for overall survival (OS) [hazard ratio (HR) = 0.41, 95% CI, 0.26-0.66;

< 0.001] and disease-free survival (DFS) [HR = 0.40, 95% CI, 0.26-0.66;

< 0.001]. The nomogram processed better predictive capability and accuracy than TNM stage from ROC results (AUC = 0.754

. AUC = 0.715), with the confirmation of calibration curves and DCA. The result of PSM confirmed that LCR was significantly correlated with OS and DFS.

Our finding demonstrates that LCR is a novel, convenient, and effective predictor that may provide vital assistance for clinical decision and individualized therapy in BCa patients after RC.

To simulate and analyze the dosimetric differences of intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) or pre-operative single-fraction stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) in addition to post-operative external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) in Glioblastoma (GB).

Imaging series of previously treated patients with adjuvant radiochemotherapy were analyzed. For SRS target definition, pre-operative MRIs were co-registered to planning CT scans and a pre-operative T1-weighted gross target volume (GTV) plus a 2-mm planning target volume (PTV) were created. For IORT, a modified (m)GTV was expanded from the pre-operative volume, in order to mimic a round cavity as during IORT. Dose prescription was 20 Gy, homogeneously planned for SRS and calculated at the surface for IORT, to cover 99% and 90% of the volumes, respectively. For tumors > 2cm in maximum diameter, a 15 Gy dose was prescribed. Plan assessment was performed after calculating the 2-Gy equivalent doses (EQD2) for both boost modalities and including them into the EBRT plan. Mtem and cochleae.

Dose escalation for Glioblastoma using IORT results in lower OAR exposure as conventional SRS.

To evaluate the prediction performance of

F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT and clinicopathologic characteristics on prostate cancer (PCa) risk stratification and distant metastatic prediction.

A retrospective analysis was performed on 101 consecutively patients with biopsy or radical prostatectomy proved PCa who underwent

F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT. The semi-quantitative analysis provided minimum, maximum and mean standardized uptake (SUVmin, SUVmax and SUVmean) of PCa. Association between clinicopathologic characteristics (total prostate-specific antigen, tPSA and Gleason Score, GS) and PET/CT indexes were analyzed. The diagnostic performance of distant metastatic on PET/CT parameters, tPSA and GS was evaluated using logistic regression analyses. A path analysis was conducted to evaluate the mediating effect of tPSA level on the relation between semi-quantitative parameters of primary tumors and metastatic lesions.

The PET/CT parameters were all higher in high risk stratification subgroups (tPSA>20 ng/mL, GS ≥ 8, andUVmax has a higher sensitivity and can be an "imaging biomarker" for primary PCa risk stratification. The prediction tPSA level (29.01 ng/mL) is more conducive to the assessment of distant metastasis and avoid unnecessary biopsy.The long non-coding RNA metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript-1 (MALAT1) was initially found to be overexpressed in early non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Accumulating studies have shown that MALAT1 is overexpressed in the tissue or serum of NSCLC and plays a key role in its occurrence and development. In addition, the expression level of MALAT1 is significantly related to the tumor size, stage, metastasis, and distant invasion of NSCLC. Therefore, MALAT1 could be used as a biomarker for the early diagnosis, severity assessment, or prognosis evaluation of NSCLC patients. This review describes the basic properties and biological functions of MALAT1, focuses on the specific molecular mechanism of MALAT1 as a microRNA sponge in the occurrence and development of NSCLC in recent years, and emphasizes the application and potential prospect of MALAT1 in molecular biological markers and targeted therapy of NSCLC.Haploidentical stem cell transplantation (haplo-SCT), an alternative donor source, offers a curative therapy for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who are transplant candidates. Advances in transplantation techniques, such as donor selection, conditioning regimen modification, and graft-versus-host disease prophylaxis, have successfully improved the outcomes of AML patients receiving haplo-SCT and extended the haploidentical transplant indictions for AML. Presently, treating de novo AML, secondary AML, therapy-related AML and refractory and relapsed AML with haplo-SCT can achieve comparable outcomes to those of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-matched sibling donor transplantation (MSDT), unrelated donor transplantation or umbilical cord blood transplantation. For some subgroups of AML subjects, such as patients with positive pretransplantation minimal/measurable residual disease, recent studies suggest that haplo-SCT might be superior to MSDT in decreasing relapse and improving survival. Unfortunately, for patients with AML after haplo-SCT, relapse and infections remain the causes of death that restrict further improvement in clinical outcomes. In this review, we discuss the recent advances and challenges in haplo-SCT for AML treatment, mainly focusing on unmanipulated haplo-SCT protocols. We provide an outlook on future prospects and suggest that relapse prophylaxis, intervention, and treatment, as well as infection prevention and therapy, are areas of active research in AML patients who receive haploidentical allografts.

The primary laparoscopic approach (PLA) for T1b/T2 gallbladder cancer (GBC) remains contradicted. We aimed to compare the perioperative and long-term outcomes after PLA versus open approach (OA) for T1b/T2 GBC.

Patients with resected T1b/T2 GBC were selected from our hospital between January 2011 and August 2018. Overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), and several secondary outcomes were used to evaluate safety and effectiveness. Subgroup analyses were performed to identify significant risk factors for OS/DFS in GBC patients undergoing PLA/OA.

A total of 114 patients who underwent OA (n = 61) or PLA (n = 53) were included in the study. The percent of PLA cases was increased over time from 40.0% in 2011 to 70.0% in 2018 (

< 0.05). There was no significant difference in OS [hazard ratio (HR), 1.572; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.866-2.855;

= 0.13] and DFS (HR, 1.225; 95% CI, 0.677-2.218;

= 0.49). No significance was found for intraoperative drainage placement (

= 0.253), intraoput gallbladder stone, smaller tumor size, and less positive LNs were potential risk factors for better DFS after OA.

PLA for T1b/T2 GBC was comparable to OA in terms of perioperative and long-term outcomes. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/Aurora-A-Inhibitor-I.html Less positive LNs and well-differentiated tumors were independent predictors for better OS after PLA, and less positive LNs were also identified for better OS after OA. Additionally, younger age, without gallbladder stone, smaller tumor size, and less positive LNs were potential risk factors for better DFS after OA.

This study aims to explore the value of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and texture analysis (TA) in the differential diagnosis of ovarian granulosa cell tumors (OGCTs) and thecoma-fibrothecoma (OTCA-FTCA).

The preoperative MRI data of 32 patients with OTCA-FTCA and 14 patients with OGCTs, confirmed by pathological examination between June 2013 and August 2020, were retrospectively analyzed. The texture data of three-dimensional MRI scans based on T2-weighted imaging and clinical and conventional MRI features were analyzed and compared between tumor types. The Mann-Whitney

-test,

test/Fisher exact test, and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to identify differences between the OTCA-FTCA and OGCTs groups. A regression model was established by using binary logistic regression analysis, and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was carried out to evaluate diagnostic efficiency.

A multivariate analysis of the imaging-based features combined with TA revealed that intratumoral hemorrhage (OR = 0.
