The CT findings of COVID-19 overlap with the CT findings of other diseases, in particular the viral pneumonia including influenza viruses, parainfluenza virus, adenovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, rhinovirus, human metapneumovirus, etc. There are differences as well as similarities in the CT features of COVID-19 compared with those of the severe acute respiratory syndrome. The aim of this article is to review the typical and atypical CT findings in COVID-19 patients in order to help radiologists and clinicians to become more familiar with the disease.Introduction Etanercept is effective in the management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and can be self-administered via an auto-injector. While these devices are generally well accepted, some patients are not comfortable with the process of self-administration; this has been cited as a reason for discontinuation of biologic treatment. Alternative routes of administration (e.g., infusion) are more resource intensive. The aim of this analysis was to explore the attributes of auto-injection devices that impact patient confidence and ability to self-administer. Methods Patients with RA (n = 168) and healthcare providers (n = 82) in Belgium, Germany, Japan, Spain, and the UK were interviewed (n = 250 overall). Mock injection procedures were carried out using an auto-injector device with the addition of a sleeve with a wider rubber grip. Importance of and performance of the device against a range attributes were captured using a Likert scale (1-7). Disease severity was captured using the Cochin hand function scale. Retentially in patients with reduced hand dexterity as a result of either advanced disease or a painful day.Purpose We recently identified disorganized muscle protein-1 of Brugia malayi (DIM-1bm) as a vaccine candidate for human lymphatic filariasis. The present study was aimed at investigating the localization of DIM-1bm in the life-stages of B. malayi to identify the tissue target of vaccine action. Methods Recombinant DIM-1bm (rDIM-1bm) was prepared and antibodies were raised in BALB/c mice. Immunoblots of SDS-PAGE resolved B. malayi infective 3rd stage larvae (L3) and adult worm antigens and rDIM-1bm were prepared and reacted with anti-rDIM-1bm sera. Sections of adult female worms and whole-mount preparations of L3 and microfilariae (mf) were stained by immunofluorescence using rDIM-1bm antibodies and Alexa Fluor 488 labeled secondary antibodies, and examined under a confocal microscope. Results Immunofluorescence staining showed that DIM-1bm is localized mainly in the subcuticular muscle layer in the L3 and the adult worms; no fluorescent signal could be detected in mf. Conclusion The localization of DIM-1bm in the parasites' muscle layer suggests that the immunoprophylactic efficacy of DIM-1 is evidently due to immobilization of the parasite and its subsequent immune elimination.Aim The aim of the current study is to evaluate the prevalence of trichomoniasis in men and women in the north of Iran and to find genotypes in the positive clinical specimens based on T. vaginalis actin gene. Crizotinib manufacturer Materials and methods Women's genital (n = 500) and men's urine (n = 1500) samples were collected from the participants referred to clinics in Mazandaran Province, northern Iran, during 2006-2018. In addition, 1500 Pap smear specimens, archived in the Bu Ali Hospital, Sari City, Mazandaran Province, northern Iran, were examined. The specimens were examined based on parasitological methods, nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR), PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism, and phylogenetic analysis. Results Overall, 17 (0.48%) of 3500 specimens were positive by PCR. Total prevalence was 0.55% (n = 2000) for women, of which 500 (1.4%; n = 7) specimens were collected freshly, and 1500 (0.26%; n = 4) were Pap smears. Moreover, six (0.4%) out of 1500 men urine specimens were positive. Overall, genotypes G, E, and I were detected with the prevalence of seven (0.2%), seven (0.2%), and three (0.08%), respectively. There was no significant statistical difference among the prevalence of the detected genotypes (P > 0.05). Conclusion As a whole, the prevalence of trichomoniasis was low in the studied area in the north of Iran and, most importantly, the genotypes of E, G, and I were distributed among men and women in the province.Purpose Taenia multiceps resides in the small intestine of carnivores such as dogs, foxes, woles, jackals, while Coenurus cerebralis which is the larval form usually settle in the central nervous system and spinal cord of intermediate hosts like sheep, cattle and goats. The aim of this study was to analyze the haplotype diversity, genetic variation and population structure of the mt-CO1 gene sequences of sheep isolates of T. multiceps had been submitted to GenBank from different countries. Methods A total of 102 sequences from the mt-CO1 gene fragment belong to T. multiceps sheep isolates were used for bioinformatic analyses. Haplotype analysis, phylogenetic analysis and diversity, neutrality, fixation and gene flow analyses were applied to the sequences. Results As a result, 20 haplotypes together with different multiple nucleotide changes were determined after the sequence analysis. Trimmed fragment length was 337 bp hereby 19 polymorphic areas, 12 of which were parsimony informative, were identified, and any insertion-deletion was found. The number of mutations between major haplotypes and the others range from one to nine. The highest (0.72) genetic differentiation (Fst value) was observed between Turkey and Egypt populations while the lowest (- 0.22) was reported from Greece. These findings are important in terms of showing the diversity of nucleotide variation in T. multiceps sheep isolates. Conclusions This study serves as the basis for future large-scale studies on T. multiceps worldwide epidemiology, bioecology, geographic distribution and population structure. The ongoing outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a global public health emergency. SARS-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), the causative pathogen of COVID-19, is a positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus belonging to the family Coronaviridae. For RNA viruses, virus-encoded RNA helicases have long been recognized to play pivotal roles during viral life cycles by facilitating the correct folding and replication of viral RNAs. Here, our studies show that SARS-CoV-2-encoded nonstructural protein 13 (nsp13) possesses the nucleoside triphosphate hydrolase (NTPase) and RNA helicase activities that can hydrolyze all types of NTPs and unwind RNA helices dependently of the presence of NTP, and further characterize the biochemical characteristics of these two enzymatic activities associated with SARS-CoV-2 nsp13. Moreover, we found that some bismuth salts could effectively inhibit both the NTPase and RNA helicase activities of SARS-CoV-2 nsp13 in a dose-dependent manner. Thus, our findings demonstrate the NTPase and helicase activities of SARS-CoV-2 nsp13, which may play an important role in SARS-CoV-2 replication and serve as a target for antivirals.Introduction Evidence regarding safety and efficacy of oral anticoagulants for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AFib) in older adults has been assessed regarding the age appropriateness of oral anticoagulants (OAC) according to the FORTA (Fit fOR The Aged) classification (OAC-FORTA). Three years after its first version (OAC-FORTA 2016), an update was initiated to create OAC-FORTA 2019. Methods A structured review of randomized controlled clinical trials and summaries of individual product characteristics was performed to detect newly emerged evidence on oral anticoagulants in older patients with AFib. This review was used by an interdisciplinary panel of European experts (N = 10) in a Delphi process to label OACs according to FORTA. Results A total of 202 records were identified and 11 studies finally included. We found four new trials providing relevant data on efficacy and safety of warfarin, apixaban, dabigatran or rivaroxaban in older patients with AFib. In the majority of studies comparing the non-vitamin-K oral anticoagulants (NOACs) with warfarin, NOACs were superior to warfarin regarding at least one relevant clinical endpoint. The mean consensus coefficient significantly increased from 0.867 (OAC-FORTA 2016) to 0.931 (p 0.8). Warfarin, dabigatran, edoxaban and rivaroxaban were assigned to the FORTA B label, acenocoumarol, fluindione and phenprocoumon were labeled FORTA C and only apixaban was rated as FORTA A. Conclusion OAC-FORTA 2019 confirms that AFib can be successfully treated with positively labeled antithrombotics at advanced age.Solar energy systems are a cheaper and easy solution to cope with severe energy crisis especially in emerging economies including Turkey which exerted huge efforts to enhance the existing solar power projects. However, the selection of the optimal site for the installation of solar projects needs vigorous investigation through various factors. Adequate quantitative scientific research is required for the process of site selection in Turkey. This paper categorizes various sites in Turkey through various factors such as economic, environmental, and social factors. Various major criteria have been combined through mathematical development to install the solar power project in remote areas of Turkey. The scientific evaluation of remote and rural solar projects in Turkey has been taken as a case study in the current paper. Additionally, the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and F-VIKOR methods were used to aggregate the criteria. The results show that economic and social ratio is significant, whereas the transmission matrix, land cost, and the sun irradiance got a major score in order to generate electricity. The study results show that total sunshine time per year determined is 2741 h (a total of 7.5 h per day) and the total solar energy obtained each year is 1527 kWh per square meter per year (a total of 4.18 kWh per square meter per day).Treated sewage sludge (or biosolid) is a suitable alternative substrate for use in turf production, but the potential of this resource remains to be explored in higher value-added field. In this study, the negative effects of sludge compost and biochar-amended sludge compost amendment on the qualitative performance of sports-field turf, including vegetation stolon index, grade for turf, and sports performance index, were investigated. It was found that sludge compost and biochar-amended sludge compost amendment induced a significant increase in organic matter, total nitrogen, total potassium, and electrical conductivity. In addition, biochar-amended sludge compost also resulted in a significant increase in turf chlorophyll content and the rate of turf weed emergence. Interestingly, electrical conductivity explained 55.4% of the qualitative changes, and electrical conductivity and pH together explained 68% of the qualitative changes. In summary, salinity was the main factor responsible for the negative effect of sludge compost amendment on qualitative performance of sports-field turf.We present a synthetic review and expert consultation that assesses the actual risks posed by arthropod pests in four major crops, identifies targets for integrated pest management (IPM) in terms of cultivated land needing pest control and gauges the implementation "readiness" of non-chemical alternatives. Our assessment focuses on the world's primary target pests for neonicotinoid-based management western corn rootworm (WCR, Diabrotica virgifera virgifera) in maize; wireworms (Agriotes spp.) in maize and winter wheat; bird cherry-oat aphid (Rhopalosiphum padi) in winter wheat; brown planthopper (BPH, Nilaparvata lugens) in rice; cotton aphid (Aphis gossypii) and silver-leaf whitefly (SLW, Bemisia tabaci) in cotton. First, we queried scientific literature databases and consulted experts from different countries in Europe, North America, and Asia about available IPM tools for each crop-pest system. Next, using an online survey, we quantitatively assessed the economic relevance of target pests by compiling country-level records of crop damage, yield impacts, extent of insecticide usage, and "readiness" status of various pest management alternatives (i.
