During the COVID-19 pandemic, Americans have increasingly relied on internet versus television news. The extent to which this change in health news consumption practice impacts health knowledge is not known. This study investigates the relationship between most trusted information source and COVID-19 knowledge.

A cross-sectional online survey was sent to a convenience sample from a list of adults on a central Pennsylvania health system's marketing database 25-31 March 2020. Respondents were grouped by their trusted news sources and comparison of respondent COVID-19 knowledge was made between these groups for 5948 respondents.

Those who selected government health websites as their most trusted source were more likely to answer COVID-19 questions correctly than those who selected other internet news sources or television news (OR 1.21,

< .05; 1.08,

> .05; and 0.87,

< .05, respectively). Those who used Facebook as an additional source of news in any way were less likely to answer COVID-19curacy in media may be warranted in public health emergencies to improve knowledge. This article reports of a study on 19 Australian community interpreters and their experience in facilitating mediated communication in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which was introduced in Australia in 2016. These interpreters were among those who attended a training workshop comprising of a pedagogical segment explaining this new scheme in detail, and a hands-on segment to translate a selection of NDIS terms into their target language to highlight possible linguistic and cultural challenges they may encounter. The training aimed to enable the interpreters to facilitate NDIS communication with clients from linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds in ways that make sense to their culture and experience. The purpose of the current study is to understand the extent the participant interpreters applied their learning in NDIS communication, and their perspective about specific challenges in this new contextual area, where certain concepts and terms may be hard to translate, and the understanding of disability may be culturally bound. The aim of the study is to deepen the understanding of multicultural communication in disability services, and to inform similar future professional development during major changes to systems in the disability sector, and more broadly in health and welfare. The double burden of malnutrition (DBM) at the household level has been defined as the coexistence of underweight children and overweight mothers within the same household. The objective of the scoping review was to identify and understand factors associated with DBM. We conducted the scoping review of published, peer-reviewed journal articles in two major databases used in public health research (PubMed and Web of Science). A total of 70 articles met the eligibility criteria. The following factors were identified mother's age, height, educational level, occupation, food intake, breastfeeding, family income, family size, and urbanization type. Overall, results were heterogeneous. Two scenarios have been identified. The first scenario is those obese women with a job, having a sufficient income, a high educational level, the ability to purchase food, and live either in rural or urban areas. The second scenario is obese women without a job, having an insufficient income, a low educational level, without the ability to purchase food, and live either in rural or urban areas. The DBM at the household level is a complex public health problem. There is a need for target-specific interventions to address child undernutrition and maternal overweight/obesity simultaneously.Herein a Mediterranean Cancer Preventive Diet Score (MCAP Score) is proposed to quantify adherence to both traditional Mediterranean fat intakes and the current dietary recommendations for cancer prevention. The scoring uses research-backed cutoff values, unlike other scores that are based on a population-specific median value. The MCAP score awards positive points for seven preventive food categories, including Mediterranean fats (monounsaturated fats, ω-3 fatty acids) associated with reduced adiposity, and negative points for four food categories associated with increased cancer risk, including ultra-processed foods. In a randomized trial of 120 persons at increased risk of colon cancer, the baseline MCAP Score averaged seven of 22 possible points. Counseling for a Healthy Diet or a Mediterranean Diet improved the score to either 11 or 13 points, respectively, and the highest score observed in any individual was 20 points. The MCAP Score was correlated with serum carotenoids and serum ω-3 fatty acids, and improvements in the score were associated with weight loss over six months of study. The MCAP Score is therefore proposed as a new method to assess adherence to a Mediterranean type of diet for cancer prevention using absolute criteria that will facilitate comparisons of dietary intakes across studies.

The link between ownership of patient care and professional identity formation (PIF) has not been formally established, yet PIF researchers frequently cite clinical experiences as powerful contributions to PIF.

Using clinical simulation, this study aimed to explore the relationship between patient care ownership and the cognitive processes involved in the creation of a professional identity.

In 2018-2019, 189 third-year students participated in a simulation in which they were placed in the role of a physician treating a patient in respiratory distress. Data were collected from 12 focus groups (

= 84; 44% of the third-year class), each lasting 15-25 minute. selleck chemicals Students were asked four questions designed to identify moments when they felt like a physician and experienced feelings of ownership. Each focus group was transcribed and analyzed for the presence of known elements that contribute to feelings of psychological ownership, and then inductively for how students related their feelings of ownership to y for patients places students into an unfamiliar role, which opens a channel for students to access new perspectives in their development as physicians.
