Therefore, it is essential to consolidate educational programs with family members, to improve the quality of care offered and to reduce preventable neonatal deaths in different socio-family contexts.
to evaluate the effectiveness of educational intervention in the knowledge and attitude of candidates for gastroplasty.
randomized controlled clinical trial with 56 preoperative patients (intervention=28; control=28). The control group received routine care from the health institution and the intervention group participated in a book-mediated educational intervention. Forms were used for clinical-epidemiological characterization and evaluation of knowledge/attitude about bariatric surgery, which were reapplied seven weeks after intervention. RBR-297fzx.
in the pre-test there was no significant difference between the groups (p=0.254). In the post-test, the group that received verbal guidance had a mean score of 19.5 (± 6.17) and the group reading the booklet averaged 31.1 (± 2.96), p=0.000. The attitude is adequate, especially for care such as vitamin supplement intake, water intake and physical activity practice.
the educational intervention mediated by booklet was effective in improving knowledge and attitude when compared to verbal guidance. Thus, it can be replicated during the preoperative preparation.

However, little research has investigated perceptions of this coercion. We presented 99 community members with intimate partner sexual coercion vignettes that varied abuse history (between-participants) and type of threat used to coerce the victim into sex (within-participants; that is, physical assault, financial, children taken). We found that physical assault threats led to higher pro-victim judgments than nonviolent threats. These findings provide insight into how sexual violence involving coercion is perceived in different contexts.Mapping the genome-wide distribution of DNA lesions is key to understanding damage signalling and DNA repair in the context of genome and chromatin structure. Analytical tools based on high-throughput next-generation sequencing have revolutionized our progress with such investigations, and numerous methods are now available for various base lesions and modifications as well as for DNA double-strand breaks. Considering that single-strand breaks are by far the most common type of lesion and arise not only from exposure to exogenous DNA-damaging agents, but also as obligatory intermediates of DNA replication, recombination and repair, it is surprising that our insight into their genome-wide patterns, that is the 'SSBreakome', has remained rather obscure until recently, due to a lack of suitable mapping technology. Here we briefly review classical methods for analysing single-strand breaks and discuss and compare in detail a series of recently developed high-resolution approaches for the genome-wide mapping of these lesions, their advantages and limitations and how they have already provided valuable insight into the impact of this type of damage on the genome.Ischemic stroke is a refractory disease generally caused by cerebral ischemic injury. Remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) caused by transient ischemia and reperfusion of the femoral artery exerts a protective effect on ischemic stroke-induced brain injury. This study was designed to investigate the potential molecular mechanism of RIPC-mediated neuroprotection, namely, the biological effects of microRNA-144 on RIPC in mice with ischemic stroke and its effects on PTEN and Akt signaling pathways. GLPG3970 Healthy adult C57BL6 mice were selected for the establishment of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). One hour before the start, remote ischemic preconditioning of limbs was performed in mice. Brain edema and infarct volume were measured. The expressions of microRNA-144, PTEN, and Akt were measured. The results showed that, compared with MCAO group, the RIPC group protected mice from cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury, systemic accumulation of inflammatory cytokines, and accelerated apoptosis of parenchymal cells. In RIPC group, PTEN expression decreased, and mir-144 and Akt expression increased. The level of phosphorylated PTEN in the transfected microRNA-144 inhibitor group increased and the level of phosphorylated Akt reduced significantly. In conclusion, our results suggest that microRNA-144 may play a protective role in remote ischemic pretreatment by downregulating PTEN and upregulating Akt, suggesting that microRNA-144 via PTEN/Akt pathway may be of therapeutic significance in ischemic stroke.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the vascular parameters of the retinal zones and the optic disc (OD) with the use of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).
This study enrolled 60 patients with T1DM without clinically detectable diabetic retinopathy (DR), along with 59 age-, gender-, and pubertal stage-matched controls. The ages of the participants in both groups were < 18 years. Retinal and OD measurements were carried out with OCTA. Foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area, non-flow area (NFA), FAZ perimeter (PERIM), acircularity index of FAZ (AI, the rate of the perimeter of FAZ and the perimeter of a circle with equal area), foveal density (FD), superficial (SCP), and the deep capillary plexus (DCP) were analyzed in the macular region. SCP and DCP were also scanned centered on the OD. Correlations between the OCTA parameters with duration of DM, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels, and microalbuminuria were evaluated among patients with T1DM.
The mean values for NFA were significantly higher and mean FD were significantly lower in the diabetic group compared with the controls (p = 0.02 and p = 0.01, respectively). The mean values for SCP and DCP were significantly lower in diabetic group (p < 0.05). The mean values for capillary density in the OD were also significantly lower in diabetic group (p < 0.05). There were correlations between the duration of T1DM, HbA1c levels and microalbuminuria, and the investigated parameters of OCTA.
The presence of microvascular changes in both retinal zones and the OD in children with T1DM without retinopathy is an important data. OCTA can be used for the early detection of DR in children.
