A highly efficient oxidative dearomatization of indoles with H-phosphorus oxides in the presence of TEMPO oxoammonium salt has been demonstrated. Through the intramolecular oxidative dearomatization of indoles and subsequent intermolecular nucleophilic addition with phosphorus nucleophile, a variety of structurally diverse arylphosphoryl and alkylphosphoryl indolin-3-ones were obtained in good yields with a broad substrate scope and high functional-group compatibility.

The Cancer Control Implementation Science Base Camp (CCISBC) was created to improve capacity among cancer control practitioners when implementing evidence-based cancer screening programs in specific contexts. Development of the curriculum included the following (1) performing a literature review assessing extant curricula, (2) comparing competencies of these curricula, (3) user-centered design, (4) producing learning materials, (5) recruiting two teams to test a pilot, (6) running the pilot, and (7) evaluating results.

During surgical resection of malignant tumors in the hepatobiliary pancreatic region, portal vein resection and reconstruction may be needed. However, there is no alternative to the portal vein. We therefore developed an artificial portal vein that could be used in the abdominal cavity.

In the experiments, hybrid pigs (n = 8) were included. An artificial portal vein was created using a bioabsorbable polymer sheet (BAPS). Subsequently, the portal vein's anterior wall was excised into an elliptical shape. A BAPS in the form of a patch was implanted at the same site. At 2weeks (n = 3) and 3months (n = 5) after the implantation, the BAPS implantation site was resected and evaluated macroscopically and histopathologically.

Immediately after the implantation, blood leakage was not detected. Two weeks after implantation, the BAPS remained, and endothelial cells were observed. Thrombus formation was not observed. Three months after implantation, the BAPS had been completely absorbed and was indistinguishable from the surrounding portal vein. Stenosis and aneurysms were not observed.

BAPS can replace a defective portal vein from the early stage of implantation to BAPS absorption. These results suggest that it can be an alternative material to the portal vein in surgical reconstruction.

Loads on the bone through the artificial joint and the joint's sliding surface shear force may cause implant fixation failure, fatigue fractures, wear of the bearing and foreign body reactions. Artificial joints can experience sudden internal damage, which can be fatal if it occurs during activities performed at high altitudes or in water. The standard design hip prosthesis has a metal femoral stem. Most stem fractures are caused at the proximal one third of the stem by fatigue due to repetitive loading. Femoral stem neck fractures can also occur. To eliminate in vivo prosthesis failures, safety performance preclinical studies evaluate stem body and neck breakage. However, the development of new femoral stems via prototyping and fatigue test verification would require excessive time and money. Therefore, evaluation methods based on numerical analyses, such as finite element analysis (FEA), have been introduced to simulate tests on actual machines. Fatigue strength design verification using FEA can efficiently identify a design that can pass International Organization for Standardization fatigue tests. FEA may also aid with composite implant development by enabling efficient preclinical testing to prove safety using minimal actual fatigue testing. Once a biological safety study of a composite material is performed, a clinical trial can prove its clinical efficacy and safety and device regulatory approval can be requested. Aim of the present study was to evaluate the impact of once-weekly semaglutide on different end-points indicative of metabolic control, cardiovascular risk, dietary behavior, and treatment satisfaction in T2DM.

This was a retrospective observational study conducted in a diabetes clinic. Changes in HbA1c, fasting blood glucose (FBG), weight, blood pressure, lipid profile, and number of antihypertensive drugs at 32weeks (T1) after the first prescription of semaglutide (T0) were analyzed. Furthermore, at T1 patients were asked to fill-in the Diabetes Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire (DTSQ) and the Control of Eating Questionnaire (COEQ).

Overall, 104 patients were identified (mean age 63.6 ± 10.4years, 58.7% men, diabetes duration 12.7 ± 8.7years). After 32weeks of treatment with semaglutide, HbA1c levels were reduced by 1.38%, FBG by - 56.53mg/dl, weight by 6.03kg. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure, total, HDL-, LDL-, and non -HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides significantly improved. The number of glucose-lowering and antihypertensive drugs also decreased. At T1, DTSQ score was 32.23 ± 1.44, whereas COEQ indicated low levels of hunger and good control of eating.

Blastocystis species has a worldwide distribution. The current study aimed to determine the prevalence and the genetic variety of Blastocystis sp. in Iraqi children in Salah AL-Deen province, Iraq. 150 faecal samples were collected from children (5-10 years old) who attended the Salah AL-Deen hospital during the period from March to November 2020. The results revealed that 33.3% of children (50 out of 150) were found infected with Blastocystis sp., when the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used. TP-0184 The presence of ST3 gene was at a band of 526 bp where this gene was observed in 11 samples out of 50 samples. The results also showed significant differences in the prevalence rate between rural and urban regions; between symptomatic and asymptomatic children, and between children who contacted domestic animals and those who did not contact animals (P0.05). The neuromuscular system is responsible for performing adequate muscle activities to maintain postural balance. Since COVID-19 can cause damage to this system, long-term sequelae might alter control of postural stability. This study aimed to evaluate the postural balance of patients with post-acute COVID-19 syndrome (PCS) who were not hospitalized and to evaluate the correlations of changes in postural balance with general fatigue, muscle strength, and quality of life (QoL).

This was a cross-sectional study in which 40 patients with PCS and 40 controls underwent balance assessment through the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) and Tinetti Balance Scale (TBS). They were evaluated for general fatigue by the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue (FACIT-F) scale, handgrip strength (HGS), and quality of life (QoL) by the Short Form-36 (SF-36).

When compared to controls, patients with PCS had lower BBS and TBS scores (p=0.001 for both). The FACIT-F score was lower in PCS patients (p=0.0001). HGS was slightly lower in the PCS patients, but not statistically significant (p=0.09). Regarding QoL, PCS patients showed worse evaluations in five dimensions of the SF-36 (physical functioning, physical role limitations, bodily pain, general health perceptions, and mental health). Both the BBS and TBS scores had statistically significant positive correlations with the FACIT-F score, HGS, and two SF-36 dimensions (physical role limitations and emotional role limitations).

Vaginal reconstruction using the posterior vaginal wall is required following radical cystectomy in women with resection of the uterus, adnexa, and anterior vaginal wall. Roll closure and clamshell closure are two widely known techniques. Of these, clamshell closure is recommended because roll closure has a high likelihood of breakdown or a resultant canal that is too narrow for sexual intercourse. In clamshell closure, however, folding the posterior vaginal wall anteriorly can be difficult. Therefore, we devised Mercedes-Benz closure, in which the vaginal wall is sutured from three directions to form a Mercedes-Benz shape, for anastomosis without tension on the vaginal wall. The present study was performed to investigate the efficacy of this alternative surgical technique for vaginal reconstruction.

Twenty-six patients who underwent vaginal reconstruction following robot-assisted radical cystectomy were divided into two groups 15 underwent clamshell closure and 11 underwent Mercedes-Benz closure. The patients' characteristics and surgical outcomes were compared between the two groups.
