Our findings illustrate that the surface reconstruction is critical to the OER activity, which may provide a new strategy on the design of 2D materials for electrocatalysis and offer theoretical insight into the catalytic mechanism.Previous research suggest that gratitude interventions are effective in improving mental well-being, which might be beneficial to university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. This quasi-experimental study sought to investigate if a gratitude intervention will lead to higher mental well-being of university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants (N = 47) mental well-being was assessed before and after 10 weekly gratitude reflection journals and statistically compared with a control group (N = 40). An analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to analyze the data. The treatment group showed significantly higher well-being after the gratitude intervention compared with the control group (Cohen's d = 0.74). The treatment group significantly increased (Cohen's d = 0.35) and the control group significantly decreased (Cohen's d = -0.41). Gratitude interventions may be effective in improving the mental well-being of university students even during a crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Gratitude interventions seem suitable for improving mental well-being for temporary mental challenges of university students such as a pandemic or other forms of crisis.A therapeutic option for advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) resistance is a clinical challenge. The clinical outcomes of pembrolizumab in those patients is inconclusive. Cytokine release syndrome (CRS) is a rarely reported immune-related adverse event in the field of immune checkpoint inhibitors therapy, raising challenges given the paucity of data with such presentations. We present the unique case of a 67-year-old female with advanced EGFR-mutated NSCLC who successfully responded to pembrolizumab after EGFR-TKI resistance. However, the patient developed CRS after pembrolizumab initiation and presented with fever, rash, hypotension, hypoxemia, tachycardia, and multiple organ dysfunction. Blood tests showed elevated levels of peripheral CD8+ T cells, C-reactive protein, and tumor necrosis factor-α. The symptoms rapidly improved after corticosteroid initiation. Thymidine mw Based on the present case, we propose that pembrolizumab might be a potential salvage therapy for patients with advanced EGFR-mutated NSCLC after EGFR-TKI resistance; CRS would be a sign of the antitumor effect of PD-1 inhibitors in those patients. However, CRS can be a fatal adverse effect and clinicians must remain vigilant for the rare toxicities to make prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Childhood trauma increases social functioning deficits in first-episode psychosis (FEP) and is negatively associated with higher-order social cognitive processes such as emotion recognition (ER). We investigated the relationship between childhood trauma severity and ER capacity, and explored sex as a potential factor given sex differences in childhood trauma exposure.

Eighty-three FEP participants (52 males, 31 females) and 69 nonclinical controls (49 males, 20 females) completed the CogState Research Battery. FEP participants completed the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire. A sex×group (FEP, controls) ANOVA examined ER differences and was followed by two-way ANCOVAs investigating sex and childhood trauma severity (none, low, moderate, and severe) on ER and global cognition in FEP.

FEP participants had significantly lower ER scores than controls (p=.035). No significant sex×group interaction emerged for ER F(3, 147)=.496, p=.438 [95% CI=-1.20-0.57], partial η

=.003. When controlling for age at psychosis onset, a significant interaction emerged in FEP between sex and childhood trauma severity F(3, 71)=3.173, p=.029, partial η

=.118. Males (n=9) with severe trauma showed ER deficits compared to females (n=8) (p=.011 [95% CI=-2.90 to -0.39]). No significant interaction was observed for global cognition F(3, 69)=2.410, p=.074, partial η

=.095.

These preliminary findings provide support for longitudinal investigations examining whether trauma severity differentially impacts ER in males and females with FEP.

Among high tuberculosis (TB) and HIV burden countries in Asia, tuberculosis preventive therapy (TPT) in people living with HIV (PLWH) has been underutilized despite its proven benefits independent of antiretroviral therapy (ART). Therefore, we determined the incidence of active TB and mortality among 9179 adult PLWH who attended and received ART from 15 tertiary care hospitals across Thailand.

A retrospective study was conducted in 2018 using follow-up data from 1999 to 2018. The primary endpoint was incident TB disease after ART initiation. Factors associated with TB incidence were analysed using competing risk regression. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to estimate mortality after ART initiation.

During a median of 5.1 years of ART (IQR 2.2-9.5 years), 442 (4.8%) PLWH developed TB (TB/HIV), giving an overall incidence of 750 (95% CI 683-823) per 100,000 persons-year of follow up (PYFU). In multivariate analysis, lower CD4 at ART initiation (≤100 cells/mm

, adjusted sub-distribution hazard ratio [aSed significantly. Rapid ART initiation and appropriate TPT can be potential key interventions to tackle the TB epidemic and reduce mortality among PLWH in TB/HIV high burden settings.

In this high TB burden country, TB incidence was remarkably high during the first few years after ART initiation and thereafter decreased significantly. Rapid ART initiation and appropriate TPT can be potential key interventions to tackle the TB epidemic and reduce mortality among PLWH in TB/HIV high burden settings.

Anti-mitochondrial antibodies (AMAs) are associated with distinct clinical phenotypes including cardiac and hepatic manifestations in idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs). This article studies the prevalence, clinical characteristics and outcomes of AMA in Indian patients with IIM.

Patients (97 81 adult, 16 juvenile) clinically diagnosed with polymyositis or antibody-negative IIM were retrieved from the MyoCite bio-archive. They were tested for myositis-specific autoantibodies / myositis autoantibodies (MSAs/MAAs) using line immunoassay and antinuclear antibodies and AMAs using immunofluorescence assay (IFA). Patients were also screened for cardiac biomarkers (cardiac troponin I [c-TnI] and N terminal-pro brain natriuretic peptide [NT-pro-BNP] using immunometric immunoassay technique and enhanced chemiluminescence assay testing respectively) and hepatic manifestations using AMA testing. Results were formulated after carrying out analytical tests.

Of the cohort, 5 adults (6.2%) (MF 01) with a medianepatic involvement and probable association with Gottron's sign and calcinosis merit further investigation and long-term follow-up to understand the entire spectrum of the disease.A group of RNA methylation enzymes is currently of interest as a new target for cancer therapy. Alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase B (AlkB) homolog 5 (ALKBH5) is an N6 -methyladenosine (m6 A) demethylation enzyme, and by high-throughput screening from pure small molecule compounds, we identified two novel inhibitors, Ena15 and Ena21, against it. Each compound showed either uncompetitive or competitive inhibition for 2-oxoglutarate (2OG). In addition, Ena21 had little inhibitory activity for fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO), which is another N6 -methyladenosine demethylation enzyme, while Ena15 enhanced the demethylase activity of FTO. The predicted binding poses of both compounds with the crystal structure of ALKBH5 (PDB ID 4NRO) were comparable with these observations pertaining to the interaction of the 2OG catalytic site in this enzyme kinetics. Furthermore, either knockdown of ALKBH5 or inhibition with Ena15 or Ena21 inhibited cell proliferation of glioblastoma multiforme-derived cell lines, decreased cell population in the synthesis phase of the cell cycle, increased m6 A RNA level, and stabilized FOXM1 mRNA. Based on these results, Ena15 and Ena21 were found to be potential candidates that might help in further research into the biological function of ALKBH5.

Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has been implemented in clinical oncology to analyze multiple genes and to guide targeted therapy. Although the pathological diagnosis and biomarker tests for patients with advanced lung cancer have mostly been obtained with small biopsy samples, especially with bronchoscopic approaches, the performance for NGS with respect to the different sizes of biopsy forceps remains little known.

We retrospectively reviewed consecutive patients with non-small cell lung cancer, whose FFPE samples were obtained by endobronchial biopsy/transbronchial biopsy and were submitted for the Oncomine Dx Target Test (ODxTT). We compared the analytical performance for ODxTT with respect to the size of biopsy forceps.

A total of 103 samples were identified. The success rate of the ODxTT for the group with all samples obtained with small forceps biopsies (70%) was lower than that of the group with some or all samples obtained with standard forceps biopsies (83%), although without a statistically significant difference (p= 0.20). With regard to the reason for unsuccessful analysis, the proportion of the samples which did not pass the nucleic acid concentration threshold in the former group (15%) was higher compared with that of the latter group (4%) (p= 0.08). The proportion of tissue size 4 mm

or larger in the former group (70%) was lower than that in the latter group (93%) (p= 0.01).

The analysis of ODxTT for specimens biopsied using only small forceps is prone to be unsuccessful due to an insufficient amount of nucleic acid.

However, the low water-permeability, structural failure in aqua and high production cost have significantly restricted their practical large-scale applications. Inspired by the structures of glomerular filtration barrier (GFB) and nacre, a high-performance biomimic membrane via supramolecular-mediated intercalation assembly is reported, where rod-shaped cyclodextrin (CD) functionalized attapulgite (ATP-CD) is intercalated into CD-modified graphene oxide (GO-CD) lamellar channels, followed by locking adjacent ATP-CD and GO-CD through tannic acid (TA) and CD supramolecular networks. The formed GFB-like heterostructure endows the membrane with excellent water transport capability and the bionic "brick and mortar" nacre configuration boosts its anti-swelling stability simultaneously. The heterostructured GO membranes (≈100 nm) fabricated in this way exhibit a good water permeability of 55.6 L m-2 h-1 bar-1 (≈20-fold higher than GO membrane) maintaining excellent dye rejection of >99% during 480 h immersion.
