Traumatic pulmonary giant hematoma, resulting from blunt trauma, is a relatively rare event. Here, we report the rare case of a patient with a giant traumatic pulmonary hematoma that was associated with blunt trauma. A 50-year-old man was admitted to our medical center after a fall from a height of 5 m. He was diagnosed with pulmonary contusion, and tests showed a huge pulmonary hematoma of approximately 8.2 × 5.3 × 13.2 cm in the left lung field along with other significant injuries. Treatment comprised of aggressive coagulation management, broad-spectrum antibiotics, and pulmonary hygiene. The patient's symptoms gradually improved and magnetic resonance scan revealed that he did not develop an abscess formation. No complications were seen at the 6 months follow-up visit. If the above mentioned measures would have failed to control the bleeding or secondary infection, then emergency surgery would have been warranted. Awareness of this kind of injury and efforts to reduce infection are important to guide the giant traumatic pulmonary hematoma to the benign course. We present a case of a 72-year-old male with a history of a late 1980s metal-on-polyethylene total hip arthroplasty who presented with unilateral leg vascular compromise, joint pain, and stiffness and subsequently underwent revision for adverse local tissue reaction secondary to mechanically assisted crevice corrosion. read more His stable and extensively porous coated femoral implant had a legacy taper with no currently manufactured option for a non-Co-alloy femoral head. link2 After shared decision-making with the patient, we opted to use an oxidized zirconium femoral head from another manufacturer with a similar taper during his revision surgery and documented that his vascular compromise resolved and his serum Co was undetectable 3 years after the revision. The specialty evaluation of hip pain, stiffness, and/or dysfunction usually includes patient history, physical examination, and radiographic evaluation. Radiographic views of the hip are not standardized, and basic studies may include an anteroposterior pelvis, anteroposterior hip, frog lateral, and direct lateral of the hip. In this article, we discuss the importance of obtaining a direct lateral radiograph of the hip in all patients being evaluated by a specialist for hip pain and its value in hip arthroplasty care.Genu varum in patients with achondroplasia is common and is often exacerbated by the associated generalized ligamentous laxity. Despite this, development of knee osteoarthritis is rare. There are only a few previously published case reports of total knee arthroplasty in this population. We present 2-year follow-up of a patient with achondroplasia who underwent staged bilateral primary total knee arthroplasties using hinged components. Technical considerations and careful preoperative planning are required in patients with achondroplasia given their small skeletal stature, metaphyseal deformities, and ligamentous laxity. We generated human excitatory neurons using a protocol for rapid 21-day induction using neurogenin-2 overexpression (Zhang et al., 2013) in a publicly available control iPSC line. We validated the glutamatergic neuronal identity of the neurons by immunofluorescence and transcriptomics. We exposed 6 of the 12 replicate neuron cultures to therapeutic plasma levels of clozapine (300 ng/mL) for the last 3 days of culture, and the remaining 6 to replicates to the clozapine solvent alone (methanol) to be used as controls. We harvested the cultures and extracted total RNA, depleted ribosomal RNA and subjected them to RNA sequencing. Of the 6 control replicates 2 failed RNA quality control, and thus a total of 6 exposed and 4 control cultures were used for further analysis. Here, we provide that raw sequencing data as well as a list of all of the genes and their expression levels resulting from the RNA-sequencing. This dataset can be used as a reference data for future studies that access additional neuronal cell types, clozapine exposure conditions, and other antipsychotic medication. Regardless of its clinical use, its manipulation is necessary byhospital pharmacists that must prepare adapted dosage forms for pediatrics. The data presented in this article suggest that extemporaneous suspensions of sodium pentobarbital in oral liquid base are stable for at least 120 days. The advent of social media platforms has caused many changes in humans' daily lifestyle. One of the most significant changes is the way in which people participate in social and cultural events. Users' participation in social media platforms is continuously increasing. This has provided brands with new opportunities such as enhancing brand influence and understanding online users' reactions through user-generated content (UGC) analysis. We provide and describe a large-scale hashtag-based dataset of social media posts published on Instagram about the Big Four international fashion weeks in New York, Paris, Milan, and London. The dataset provides the data of the 2018 events and has a periodic and well-established structure. Moreover, we designed a two-stage platform for collecting such large-scale datasets related to long-running events based on relevant hashtags In the first stage, the platform extracts all the posts, and in the second stage, it extracts the information about the authors of the posts. The article presents the data on the evaluation of COVID-19 situation by adult respondents (age from 18 to 76) coming from countries with the common past, language and similar mentality but differing in governmental security measures during pandemic spring outbreak (no precautionary measures in Belarus (N = 267); lockdown and financial support in Russia (N = 397)). The data was collected via online survey platform (Google forms) from 2020.04.11 to 2020.06.04 (during the period of lock-down in Russia). The data contains socio-demographical information (sex, age, country of citizenship), survey answers and the results of standardized psychological tests (to measure dangerous and threatening social world view and hardiness). The survey consists of four blocks specific impact of the COVID-19 situation on various aspects of respondents' life; estimation of different fears; estimation of various aspects of COVID-19 situation, and estimation of personal resources. All the items require participants to rate them on a 11-point Likert scale from 0 (totally disagree, absolutely no fear or no impact) to 10 (totally agree, the strongest fear or impact). Descriptive statistics as well as the comparison results are given. The data may be used to investigate the influence of lockdown, social distancing, and isolation on psychological well-being as well as the impact of personal resources in psychological well-being in stressful situations.Child abuse is linked to lifetime psychopathology including abnormal self-processing. Given self-processing maturation in adolescence, we tested duration, presence, and abuse accumulation's impact upon self-processing neurobiology among depressed youth with (N = 54) and without an abuse history (N = 40). Youth evaluated positive and negative self-descriptors across four points of view in the scanner. Regression analyses showed that longer abuse duration (in days) was associated with lower activity in inferior temporal (e.g. insula, fusiform & parahippocampus), striatal, cerebellar and midbrain structures when processing negative self-descriptors with the least activity in youth exposed to 6+ abuse years. Abuse presence vs. absence was linked to higher neural activity. However, youth exposed to a single abuse instance to 3 years of abuse might drive that relative neural hyperactivity. Results support 1) the toxic stress model of blunted overall neuro-reactivity underpinning emotion, sensorimotor gating, and social cognition during negative stimuli as an adaptation to pervasively toxic environments and 2) the differential impact of acute versus chronic stress upon neurophysiological indices. Finally, child abuse duration might impact these ancillary and higher socioemotional processes differently among depressed youth primarily for negative but not positive self-processing.Effects of high magnetic fields [MFs, ≥ 1 T (T)] on osteoblastic differentiation and the orientation of cells or matrix proteins have been reported. However, the effect of low MFs ( less then 1 T) on the orientation of bone formation is not well known. This study was performed to verify the effects of low MFs on osteoblastic differentiation, bone formation, and orientation of both cells and newly formed bone. An apparatus was prepared with two magnets (190 mT) aligned in parallel to generate a parallel MF. link3 In vitro, bone marrow-derived stromal cells of rats were used to assess the effects of low MFs on cell orientation, osteoblastic differentiation, and mineralization. A bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-2-induced ectopic bone model was used to elucidate the effect of low MFs on microstructural indices, trabecula orientation, and the apatite c-axis orientation of newly formed bone. Low MFs resulted in an increased ratio of cells oriented perpendicular to the direction of the MF and promoted osteoblastic differentiation in vitro. Moreover, in vivo analysis demonstrated that low MFs promoted bone formation and changed the orientation of trabeculae and apatite crystal in a direction perpendicular to the MF. These changes led to an increase in the mechanical strength of rhBMP-2-induced bone. These results suggest that the application of low MFs has potential to facilitate the regeneration of bone with sufficient mechanical strength by controlling the orientation of newly formed bone.Bone strength determined from finite element (FE) modelling provides an estimate of fracture healing progression following a distal radius fracture (DRF), but how these measures relate to patient-reported outcomes and functional outcomes remains unknown. We hypothesized that changes in bone stiffness and bone mineral density measured using high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) are associated with clinically available measures of functional and patient-reported outcomes. We also aimed to identify which clinical outcome measures best predict fracture stiffness and could therefore be used to inform cast removal. Participants (n = 30) with stable distal radius fractures were followed for two week intervals from the time of fracture until two months post-fracture, then at three months and six months post-fracture. At each follow-up, participants underwent clinical, radiographic, and functional assessments, as well as had their fractured wrist scanned using HR-pQCT. Recovery of bone stiffness during fracture healing was determined from micro-FE (μFE) models generated from HR-pQCT image data. During the DRF healing process, significant longitudinal changes were found in μFE-estimated stiffness, patient-reported outcomes, grip strength, range of motion (ROM), tenderness, number of cortices healed based on radiographs, and fracture line visibility (p less then 0.05); however, no significant change was detected in HR-pQCT based total bone mineral density. Patient-reported outcomes, such as the Patient-Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE) and the Quick Disability of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (QuickDASH) questionnaire, correlated strongly with μFE-estimated stiffness (0.61 ≥ rm ≥ 0.66). Based on μFE-estimated stiffness, PRWE and QuickDASH are the best predictors of stiffness recovery (p less then 0.05) and may be used to guide duration of cast immobilization in the clinical setting.
