Replacement Handles For Windows

Window handles are among the most frequently used components of your double-glazed windows. As time passes, they could be worn out or rusty.

To replace a UPVC window handle you need to know the length of the spindle of the handle you have currently and also its fixings. This can be accomplished by looking at the base of the handle that was previously used.

Handle

Over time uPVC window locks and handles may be damaged due to wear and tear or by accidental or deliberate damage. It is possible that the lock or handle becomes difficult to close or open, or that they are not even locked. It could be tempting to replace your entire window unit if this occurs, but it's not always necessary. It's usually the case that a replacement handle or lock will suffice.

The most commonly used kind of uPVC window handle is the espagnolette. This handle has a spindle that protrudes from the handle. It is inserted into a gearbox, which controls the multipoint locking mechanism inside the window. It is crucial to match the right handle and lock to your windows in order to ensure that they work properly, which is why we have a wide variety of replacement handles for all kinds of uPVC windows.

When replacing a uPVC window handle it is recommended to use screw cover caps in order to keep the screws secure and protect them from corrosion. You can also use a washer, spacer or other sealant to ensure a more secure fit. A screw cap that is in place will also stop debris and water from entering the handle and cause damage.

After the handle has been removed from the window, it's recommended to wash the spindle of the new handle and also the threaded portion of the bolt. This will ensure that the handle fits and functions properly. It will also prevent dirt from entering the multipoint lock.

The next step is to set up the uPVC handle. Be sure to read the instructions that come with your new handle. You can also look at your previous one to get a better understanding of how to do it. Usually, the process is very straightforward. If you have any issues that aren't addressed in this guide, we recommend contacting our team to get more details.

It's also worth noting that if you are replacing the uPVC handle with a cockspur (also called an Espag handle) you'll need to check the step height of the window to determine the proper size of handle. The steps height is the distance between the base of the window and the point where the cockspur handles sits.
