=.009]. After adjustment for confounders, a 2.545 fold increased risk of cognitive decline was observed among subjects with higher BPI when compared to those with normal (OR 2.545, 95%CI 1.024-6.325,

The findings suggest that BPI is an associated with cognition in older adults and may a novel alternative marker for identifying the subjects at the risk of dementia.

Indeed, the consequences of student burnout are as complex as other mental distress factors, such as those concerned with smoking and alcohol consumption, or an unhealthy lifestyle. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of burnout among health sciences students and to determine its associated factors. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted among 368 students of a Tunisian institution using the French validated version of the MBI-SS. The prevalence of burnout was 64.4%. The presence of a diagnosed health problem, a diagnosed mental disorder or sleep problems were associated with burnout. Students who live alone are significantly the most emotionally exhausted (p=0.010) and the most cynical (p=0.033). Students who had a low socio-economic level are significantly more cynical than those who had a medium or high socio-economic level (p=0.032). Performing leisure activities and practicing physical activities were associated with emotional exhaustion (p=0.007, p= 0.008, respectively). In our study, burnout is prevalent among Tunisian health sciences students. Many factors were found to be associated with this syndrome. These findings reinforce the need to establish early preventive strategies to encounter this problem and its consequent risks. Two new benzoic acid derivatives, sophophenoside A (1) and sophophenoside B (2), were isolated from Sophora flavescens. Their structures were elucidated by detailed spectroscopic analysis and chemical methods. Compounds 1 and 2 were assayed for their hepatoprotective activity on the cytotoxic effect of D-galactosamine on HL-7702 cells, and compound 1 exhibited a moderate hepatoprotective activity at a concentration of 10 μM.

To assess the impact of staff training focused on improved treatment and communication with patients in post-traumatic amnesia (PTA) or other disorders of explicit (declarative) memory. A major aim was to minimize questions demanding recall from explicit memory, e.g., orientation quizzing, and personal/medical history questions, which may produce unreliable information and exacerbate patient frustration and anxiety.

Mixed-methods design. Elamipretide mw Inpatients with impairments of explicit memory were observed before (n=4) and after (n=4) training, with staff interactions recorded verbatim. Records were coded for types of questions and patient responses. Clinicians who worked before and after training were surveyed regarding perceived changes in practice, team functioning, and patient behavior.

Explicit memory questions decreased significantly, as did irrelevant or "don't know" responses from patients, with large nonparametric effect sizes noted. The frequency of questions not relying on explicit memory remained stable. Most clinicians reported positive effects on their own and others' practice with memory impaired patients, and one-quarter noted less patient frustration or agitation.

Although questioning patients is a natural part of medical care, targeted staff training can result in positive changes in communication practice and should be considered for facilities treating patients in PTA.

We aimed to compare levels of 6-sulfatoxy melatonin after three different night shift schedules, including recovery days. In a quasi-experimental, within-subject crossover study, 73 male police officers in Denmark collected morning urine after the last recovery day in three different work schedules with two, four, and seven consecutive night shifts followed by a corresponding number of days for recovery. We found no significant differences for 6-sulphatoxymelatonin concentrations in morning urine between the three different work schedules indicating similar recovery of melatonin suppression in the studied work schedules.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence and risk factors associated with caregiver burden in familial caregivers and foreign domestic workers of patients with severe traumatic brain injury.

A total of 77 caregivers were consecutively recruited, who were either familial caregivers or foreign domestic workers. All caregivers were evaluated with the Zarit Burden Index (ZBI), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), and General Anxiety Disorder 7-item (GAD-7) scale. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to determine factors associated with caregiver burden.

The majority of participants were familial caregivers (N=60), of which 70% experienced significant caregiver burden. In this group, 10.0% caregivers had clinically significant depression and 16.7% caregivers who had clinically significant anxiety. On multivariate analysis, factors found to be associated with caregiver burden were Glasgow Outcome Scale Extended (GOSE) of <7, presence of neuropsychiatric complications, and presence of anxiety. There was also a high prevalence of caregiver burden in foreign domestic workers (29.4%).

There is a high rate of caregiver burden in both familial caregivers and foreign domestic workers who care for patients with severe traumatic brain injury. Caregivers experiencing stress should also be monitored for the presence of anxiety or depression.
