Purification of blueberry polyphenol oxidase (PPO) has not been substantially progressed for a long time, which leads to little further study. We purified three PPOs from blueberries for the first time by modified Native-Page. The PPO-2 consists of two subunits (68 and 36 kDa), whereas PPO-3 and PPO-4 contain only one subunit (36 kDa). The optimum pH and temperature of PPO-2, PPO-3, and PPO-4 were 5.8-6.2 and 40 °C-45 °C with catechol as a substrate. The optimal substrates for them were all catechol (Km = 14.91, 7.19, and 11.20, respectively). High-pressure processing (HPP) had a limited inhibitory effect on the three PPOs. We examine the familial aggregation and coaggregation of anxiety disorder subtypes and anxiety-related temperamental traits, and their association with mood disorders.

A total of 477 probands and 549 first-degree adult relatives from a large community based family study of affective spectrum disorders completed semi-structured diagnostic interviews and self-reported assessments of temperamental traits including negative affectivity on the 'Positive and Negative Affect Schedule' (PANAS), neuroticism anxiety on the 'Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality Questionnaire' (ZKPQ), and anxiety sensitivity on the 'Anxiety Sensitivity Index' (ASI).

The anxiety-related temperamental traits of negative affectivity, neuroticism anxiety and anxiety sensitivity had significant familial specificity, even after controlling for comorbid mood and anxiety disorders in probands and reety-related temperamental traits. These findings suggest that anxiety-related temperamental traits may indicate a vulnerability for mood and anxiety disorders or a potential consequence of these conditions.

Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is one of the most feared complications of total joint arthroplasty (TJA). Although commonly the result of colonization by Staphylococcal species, a growing number of cases of PJI with fungal pathogens have been reported within the last decade. Although standard treatment with two-stage exchange mirrors that of bacterial PJI, the variability in virulence between fungal species makes for an unpredictable and challenging treatment course.

A review of Pubmed and Scopus from years 2009 to 2019 was conducted with the search terms fungal, infection, Candida, arthroplasty, periprosthetic, and prosthesis. Publications were reviewed and screened, yielding data for 286 patients with fungal PJI in the hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow prosthetics.

Patient comorbidities generally included conditions impairing wound healing and immune response such as diabetes mellitus. However, before more land is designated as a protected area, it is important to know how effective existing protected areas are in achieving conservation goals. Unfortunately, the determination of the conservation effectiveness of protected areas, such as their capacity to reduce deforestation and forest fragmentation over a considerable period at high temporal frequency (e.g., yearly), is still unavailable despite some known methods being available, for example, the System for the Integrated Assessment of Protected Areas. In this study, we processed and analyzed the Hansen dataset from 2000 to 2018 to produce yearly forest/non-forest maps of four protected areas in Bangladesh and used these maps, with a matching method, to estimate the effectiveness of protected area in reducing deforestation after controlling for potential hidden bias.
