Although the potential of big data analytics for health care is well recognized, evidence is lacking on its effects on public health.
The aim of this study was to assess the impact of the use of big data analytics on people's health based on the health indicators and core priorities in the World Health Organization (WHO) General Programme of Work 2019/2023 and the European Programme of Work (EPW), approved and adopted by its Member States, in addition to SARS-CoV-2-related studies. Furthermore, we sought to identify the most relevant challenges and opportunities of these tools with respect to people's health.
Six databases (MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews via Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, and Epistemonikos) were searched from the inception date to September 21, 2020. Systematic reviews assessing the effects of big data analytics on health indicators were included. Two authors independently performed screening, selection, data extraction, and quality assessment using al outcomes of several chronic diseases. Confidence in the results was rated as "critically low" for 25 reviews, as "low" for 7 reviews, and as "moderate" for 3 reviews. The most frequently identified challenges were establishment of a well-designed and structured data source, and a secure, transparent, and standardized database for patient data.
Although the overall quality of included studies was limited, big data analytics has shown moderate to high accuracy for the diagnosis of certain diseases, improvement in managing chronic diseases, and support for prompt and real-time analyses of large sets of varied input data to diagnose and predict disease outcomes.

International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) CRD42020214048; https//www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php?RecordID=214048.Focal fibrocartilaginous dysplasia (FFCD) is a rare disease that can cause angular deformities of long bones. The common pathologic finding is a thick fibrotic band extending from epiphysis to metaphysis on one side of the bone. The tethering effect of the fibrotic band around the growth plate is thought to be the main etiology for the development and progression of the deformity. FFCD mostly affects the proximal tibia and the distal femur. The literature contains different treatment options. Here, we present the case of a 20-month-old girl with FFCD on the medial side of the distal femur causing varus deformity. Our treatment protocol included excision of the fibrotic band from the medial side and application of a two-hole plate for guided growth on the lateral side of the distal femur. Deformity correction was achieved rapidly with no complications. A literature review is also presented along with pathologic and magnetic resonance imaging findings. The posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) is the terminal branch of the radial nerve. The symptoms of PIN palsy vary markedly according to its types. In this report, we present the case of a 61-years-old male patient with an unusual manifestation of non-traumatic novel type of PIN palsy. A complicated course was involved in the diagnosis of this disease. The operation was performed after verification of PIN palsy. Peptide 17 cost Recovery of symptoms was observed in a follow-up conducted three years later. Additionally, the electromyography examination returned to normal.
The aim of this study was to determine the intraoperative corrective effect of the aponeurotic release of semimembranosus (SM) as a single procedure or an adjunct procedure to distal myotendinous release of semitendinosus (ST) and myofascial release of SM lengthening in the correction of knee flexion deformity in cerebral palsy (CP).
In this prospective study, 46 knees of 23 consecutive ambulatory patients (15 boys and 8 girls; mean age=8.33 years; age range=5-12 years) with spastic diplegic CP with a gross motor function classification system level (GMFCS) II or III were included. The patients were then divided into 2 groups. In group I, there were 10 patients (4 boys, 6 girls; mean age=8.6±2), and combined release of ST in the myotendinous junction and SM in the myofascial junction, followed by aponeurotic release of SM were carried out. In group II, there were 13 patients (2 girls, 11 boys; mean age=8±2.35), and aponeurotic release of SM was done first and followed by the combined release of ST in the without forceful manipulation or lengthening of the lateral hamstrings during the correction of knee flexion deformity in CP.
Aponeurotic release of SM is equally effective to reduce the intraoperative PA with combined myotendinous release of ST and myofascial release of SM. Combining all the 3 procedures provides a better correction without forceful manipulation or lengthening of the lateral hamstrings during the correction of knee flexion deformity in CP.
This study aimed to investigate the malpractice claims experienced by orthopedic and traumatology physicians and to determine their effects on burnout, job satisfaction, and clinical practice.
A questionnaire survey was conducted on orthopedic and traumatology specialists between May 2019 and February 2020. Data collection was carried out via e-survey at "turk-ortopedi" mail group, which is an electronic communication network of orthopedic and traumatology physicians. For data collection, sociodemographic data forms were used including the general characteristics, working conditions, and the malpractice claim events along with the Maslach Burnout Inventory scale to evaluate burnout and the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire to investigate job satisfaction.
In total, 353 orthopedic and traumatology physicians (348 men, 5 women), including 37 professors, 41 associate professors, and 275 surgeons, completed the questionnaire. In total, 65.4% of the participants (231 physicians and 471 relevant dossiers) level decreased as seniority increased, the most senior ones were the ones most exhausted, and job satisfaction increased with seniority.
Evidence from this study has revealed that malpractice claims cause emotional burnout, low intrinsic job satisfaction, and a hesitant behavior in medical practice for the orthopedic and traumatology physicians. The concept of malpractice alone may result in unnecessary analyses/examinations for patients.
