Ts and population studies showed similar trends, but also showed several differences.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association between asthma and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in an adult Korean population and to evaluate this association based on the treatment status of asthmatics. We utilized the Korean genome and epidemiology study health examinee 2004 to 2016 database. A total of 47,186 participants (825 asthmatics and 46,361 controls) were selected and their BPH histories were analyzed. We categorized the participants according to their asthma treatment status "well controlled"; "being treated"; and "not being treated". The adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for BPH were analyzed using multiple logistic regression. Subgroup analyses were performed according to age (60 years). The results showed that the prevalence of BPH was higher among asthma patients (17.1%) than among controls (8.7%, P < .001). Asthma patients had a higher risk of having BPH (OR = 1.64, 95% CI = 1.37-2.01, P < .001) than controls, after adjustment for age, income,a correlation between asthma and BPH in the adult Korean population. There is a stronger association between asthma and BPH in younger adults and in those who are not receiving treatment for asthma.
Nursing educators should equip nursing students with sufficient knowledge about coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, cues to action, self-efficacy, and behavioral intention in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.The purpose of this study was to use the health belief model to elucidate nursing students' relationships between knowledge about COVID-19, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, cues to action, self-efficacy, and behavioral intention.A cross-sectional survey design was adopted and purposive sampling was utilized. A total of 361 nursing students participated in the study. Quantitative analysis was employed for all data analysis. The findings showed that the nursing students had the following mean scores on knowledge of COVID-19 9.43 [standard deviation (SD)1.19], perceived susceptibility 19.41 (SD2.68), perceived severity 20.31 (SD 4.09), perceived benefits 26.52 (Ses to action, and self-efficacy explained 58.1% of the variance in behavioral intention (R2 = 0.581, F = 29.775, P less then .001).Nursing educators can increase nursing students' knowledge of COVID-19, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, cues to action, and self-efficacy as effective means of health promotion to improve their behavioral intention to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
One-stage resections of primary colorectal cancer and liver metastases have been reported to be feasible and safe. Minimally invasive approaches have become more common for both colorectal and hepatic surgeries. This study aimed to investigate outcomes of these combined surgical procedures among different approaches. We retrospectively analyzed patients diagnosed as having primary colorectal cancer with synchronous liver metastases and who underwent 1-stage primary resection and hepatectomy with curative intent in our hospital. Salvianolic acid B Sirtuin activator According to the surgical approach for the primary tumor and hepatic lesions, namely open laparotomy (Op) or laparoscopic approach (Lap), patients were classified into Op-Op, Lap-Op (laparoscopic colorectal resection plus open hepatectomy), and Lap-Lap groups, respectively. Clinicopathological factors were reviewed, and short- and long-term outcomes were compared among the groups. The Op-Op, Lap-Op, and Lap-Lap groups comprised 36, 18, and 17 patients, respectively. The superior/posterLap-Lap and Lap-Op groups (median 17 days and 15 days, vs 19 days for the Op-Op group, P = .033). The postoperative complication rates and survivals were similar among the groups.Application of laparoscopy to 1-stage resections of primary colorectal cancer and liver metastases may offer advantages of enhanced recovery from surgical treatment, given appropriate patient selection.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) has a high morbidity rate worldwide, but there are no effective treatment measures, which seriously affect people's lives. Previous clinical studies on Tong-Xie-Yao-Fang (TXYF) combined with Si-Ni-San (SNS) in the treatment of IBS have been increasing, but there is no systematic evaluation. This study aims to systematically study the effectiveness of TXYF combined with SNS in the treatment of IBS.
The PubMed, EMBASE, Science Network, Cochrane Library, Chinese Biomedical Literature, Wanfang Chinese Digital Journal and Conference Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database and VIP China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP) will be used Search related literature, and the search time is from the date of establishment to February 2021. The National Institutes of Health clinical registry Clinical Trials, International Clinical Trials Registry Platform and the Chinese clinical trial registration platform will be searched to find ongoing or unpublished trials. After screening the literature according to the criteria, two researchers independently extracted data according to a predetermined table. The primary outcome is total effective rate. The RevMan 5.3.5 software will be used for statistical analysis. Finally, the recommendation, evaluation, development and evaluation system will be used to evaluate the quality evidence for each result.

The aim of the study was to study sonoelastographic features of thesartorius muscle, and its relation to the demographic factors. The study included 70 muscles in 35 healthy subjects. High-resolution ultrasound and shearwave elastography were used to evaluate the sartorius muscle. Stiffness values were measured. The mean shear elastic modulus of the sartorius muscle was 21.96 ± 5.1 kPa. Demographic factors showed no relation to the elastic modulus of the left sartorius muscle. Positive statistical correlation was noted between the elastic modulus of the right sartorius muscle, weight, and body mass index. Our results could be a reference point for evaluating sartorius muscle stiffness in future research considering different pathologies.

The present study was conducted with an attempt to explore the correlation of serum resistin level and other metabolic hormones and immune function in neonatal umbilical cord blood. The levels of umbilical cord blood resistin, adiponectin, insulin, growth hormone, leptin, thyrotropin, thyroid hormone (T3, T4), lgM, lgA, lgG, CD4, and CD8 were measured in 180 full-term newborns delivered in hospital from October 2018 to November 2019. The delivery mode, weight, height, and gender at birth were recorded. The levels of resistin, insulin, and growth hormone in umbilical cord blood of newborns delivered vaginally were significantly higher than those born by cesarean section (P < .05), while the levels of adiponectin, leptin, TST, T3, T4, lgM, lgA, lgG, CD4, and CD8 were comparable between the 2 groups (P > .05). The levels of resistin, adiponectin, insulin, growth hormone, leptin, TST, T3, T4, lgM, lgA, lgG, CD4, and CD8 in cord blood of male and female newborns were comparable (P > .05). The newborns wit cord blood and insulin, TST, lgM, lgA, lgG, CD4, and CD8.
.05). Based on Pearson correlation analysis, neonatal umbilical cord blood resistin was positively correlated with adiponectin, leptin, growth hormone, T3, and T4 (r = 0.281, 0.287, 0.321, 0.276, 0.269, P less then .05). However, there was no significant correlation between neonatal umbilical cord blood resistin and insulin, TST, lgM, lgA, lgG, CD4, and CD8.The level of serum resistin in neonatal umbilical cord blood was associated with the delivery mode and birth weight, and positively correlated with adiponectin, leptin, growth hormone, T3, and T4. However, no correlation was observed between serum resistin in neonatal umbilical cord blood and insulin, TST, lgM, lgA, lgG, CD4, and CD8.
The prone position is commonly used in spinal surgery. There have been many studies on hemodynamic changes in the prone position during general anesthesia. We report a rare case of transient left bundle branch block (LBBB) in a prone position.
Electrocardiogram (ECG) of a 64-year-old man scheduled for spinal surgery showed normal sinus rhythm change to LBBB after posture change to the prone position.
Twelve lead ECG revealed LBBB. His coronary angio-computed tomography results showed right coronary artery with 30% to 40% stenosis and left circumflex artery with 40% to 50% stenosis. The patient was diagnosed with stable angina and second-degree atrioventricular block of Mobitz type II.
Nitroglycerin was administered intravenously during surgery. Adequate oxygen was supplied to the patient. After surgery, the patient was prescribed clopidogrel, statins, angiotensin II receptor blocker, and a permanent pacemaker was inserted.
Surgery was completed without complications. After surgery, the transient LBBB changed to a normal sinus rhythm. The patient did not complain of chest pain or dyspnea.
The prone position causes significant hemodynamic changes. A high risk of cardiovascular disease may cause ischemic heart disease and ECG changes. Therefore, careful management is necessary.

In this report, we present an extremely rare case of recurrent monocular exudative retinal detachment without concomitant ocular metastases. This turned out to be the first symptom of squamous cell lung cancer.
A 63-year-old woman was referred to our ophthalmology clinic by her primary care physician with a complaint of deteriorating vision in her right eye that had started four months prior, without concomitant pain.
We observed a detachment in the lower part of the retina during her ophthalmoscopy. We did not find any tears, holes, or degenerative changes in the periphery of the retina of the right eye during the surgery. In addition, plaques, tumor masses, and metastases were absent. Therefore, we diagnosed her with unilateral paraneoplastic exudative retinal detachment. Imaging tests performed before surgery revealed perihilar density with a visible air bronchogram in the middle field of the left lung. This turned out to be squamous cell carcinoma.
Patient underwent pars plana vitrectomy and routine laboratory and imaging tests before the procedure that utilized 20-gauge instrumentation.
