The measured results showed that the relative error was 1.6% less than the standard value and proved the accuracy of the proposed method. The TCRs measured at different pressures were compared with those obtained using the steady-state method, and the maximum deviation was 8.5%. The thermal conductivity obtained with the contact thermal resistance was smaller than that without the thermal resistance. The measurement results for the anisotropic silica aerogels at different temperatures and pressures revealed that the thermal conductivity and thermal contact conductance increased as temperature and pressure increased. The great challenge facing humanity in the coming decades is to secure food for the 9 [...].Genetic and genomic testing technologies have expanded beyond levels of diagnostic capability that were unimaginable even a few years ago. While this has significantly benefited clinicians in their care of patients and families, it has also altered how geneticists evaluate patients. One immediate example is the role of the dysmorphologic physical exam in the patient evaluation. While some have suggested that it is no longer necessary, we argue that the dysmorphologic physical exam is still essential, albeit in a different role.Bama minipigs are a local pig breed that is unique to China and has a high development and utilization value. However, its high fat content, low feed utilization rate, and slow growth rate have limited its popularity and utilization. read more Compared with the long breeding cycle and high cost of traditional genetic breeding of pigs, clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated (Cas) endonuclease 9 system (CRISPR/Cas9)-mediated gene editing can cost-effectively implement targeted mutations in animal genomes, thereby providing a powerful tool for rapid improvement of the economic traits of Bama minipigs. The iroquois homeobox 3 (IRX3) gene has been implicated in human obesity. Mouse experiments have shown that knocking out IRX3 significantly enhances basal metabolism, reduces fat content, and controls body mass and composition. This study aimed to knock out IRX3 using the CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing method to breed Bama minipigs with significantly reduced fat content. First, the CRIires further investigation.A two-step homogenization procedure is presented to investigate the stiffness of a unidirectional continuous fiber-reinforced composite material containing voids of different shapes and volume contents. Since the Mori-Tanaka scheme is limited to moderate volume contents of the inhomogeneity phase, fiber and matrix are homogenized with semi-empirical relations with use of the adjusted fiber volume content in a first step. In the second step, the Mori-Tanaka scheme is applied to obtain the homogenized stiffness tensor of a transversely isotropic material containing voids aligned with the fiber direction. The voids are modelled with infinite length, but an elliptic base characterized by the aspect ratio. The tensor components of the Eshelby tensor for this case are presented in closed form for a transversely isotropic material depending on the aspect ratio and matrix material properties. The scheme is solved directly for easy implementation and the use of fast calculations of the effective engineering constants of a composite material containing voids. Experimental results from literature for different void contents and shapes are compared to the predicted moduli with cylindrical voids. From the results it is further concluded that the aspect ratio of the void and the manufacturing process of the composite should be considered.Graphene (0.5 wt.%) was dispersed in the hydrophobic room-temperature ionic liquid 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide (IL) to obtain a new non-Newtonian (IL + G) nanolubricant. Thin layers of IL and (IL + G) lubricants were deposited on stainless steel disks by spin coating. The tribological performance of the new thin layers was compared with those of full fluid lubricants. Friction coefficients for neat IL were independent of lubricant film thickness. In contrast, for (IL + G) the reduction of film thickness not only afforded 40% reduction of the friction coefficient, but also prevented wear and surface damage. Results of surface profilometry, scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM), energy dispersive analysis (EDX), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Raman spectroscopy were discussed. With the rapid progression of additive manufacturing and the emergence of new 3D printing technologies, accuracy assessment is mostly being performed on isosymmetric test bodies. However, the accuracy of anatomic models can vary. The dimensional accuracy of root mean square values in terms of trueness and precision of 50 mandible replicas, printed with five common printing technologies, were evaluated. The highest trueness was found for the selective laser sintering printer (0.11 ± 0.016 mm), followed by a binder jetting printer (0.14 ± 0.02 mm), and a fused filament fabrication printer (0.16 ± 0.009 mm). However, highest precision was identified for the fused filament fabrication printer (0.05 ± 0.005 mm) whereas other printers had marginally lower values. Despite the statistically significance (p less then 0.001), these differences can be considered clinically insignificant. These findings demonstrate that all 3D printing technologies create models with satisfactory dimensional accuracy for surgical use. Since satisfactory results in terms of accuracy can be reached with most technologies, the choice should be more strongly based on the printing materials, the intended use, and the overall budget. The simplest printing technology (fused filament fabrication) always scored high and thus is a reliable choice for most purposes. The scientific literature on tourism identifies two driving trends the quest for experientiality and the growing connection between holidays and quality of life. The present research focuses on water-based activities practiced with a healthy purpose, capable of driving positive economic, social and environmental effects on the territory where this type of tourism is developed. Considering the growing demand of experiential tourism, it is important to assess the experiential value of these practices and their impact on the quality of life, satisfaction and loyalty. A sample of 184 customers of thermal spas and similar establishments was used to test the structural model proposed, employing the partial least squares technique. The results show the experiential value of healthy water-based activities and confirm their positive impact on the individuals' quality of life, satisfaction and loyalty towards both the experience and the destination.
