Setting the beam transport magnets, horizontal and vertical scanning magnets resulted in a maximum Δf res of 50, 235 and 4 Hz, respectively. The ΔMFH was less than 3 parts per million for all measurements. MR images acquired during beam energy variation and vertical beam scanning showed no visual loss in image quality. However, MR images acquired during horizontal beam scanning showed severe coherent ghosting artefacts in phase encoding direction. Both simulated and measured k-space phase maps prove that these artefacts are caused by phase-offsets. This study shows first experimental evidence that simultaneous in-beam MR imaging during proton PBS irradiation is subject to severe loss of image quality in the absence of magnetic decoupling between the PBS and MR system. Background Mucinous colorectal adenocarcinoma (MAC) has a higher incidence of local extension, leading to lower overall resection rates. Few studies have investigated the outcomes of laparoscopic surgery for MACs to date. Therefore, we aimed to elucidate the validity of laparoscopic surgery for mucinous adenocarcinoma (MAC). Methods This study analyzed short-term and long-term outcomes between laparoscopic and open surgery for MACs from 2008 to 2018. Multivariate analyses were used to define prognostic factors of overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS). Results Patients in the laparoscopy (LAP) group had significantly less blood loss, fewer days to first flatus and to diet, and shorter length of hospital stay. The 3-year and 5-year DFS rates for all stages combined were 65.7% and 62.5% in the LAP group compared with 60.5% and 57.6% in the open (OPEN) surgery group (P = .521). The 3-year and 5-year OS rates for all stages combined were 72.3% and 67.3% in the LAP group compared with 72.6% and 67.8% in the OPEN group (P = .934). OS and DFS in stage II, stage III, and pathological T4 (pT4) stage patients who underwent laparoscopic surgery did not differ from patients who underwent open surgery. Multivariate analysis showed that stage pT4, pN2, and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) were significant predictors of OS. Independent factors, including intraoperative blood transfusion, stage pT4, pN2, CEA, and CA19-9, carbohydrate antigen 19-9, have a great effect on DFS. Conclusions Laparoscopic surgery is a safe and feasible option for mucinous colorectal AC, which provides faster postoperative recovery and less intraoperative blood loss.During normal and predictable circumstances, employees' occupational calling (i.e., a transcendent passion to use their talent and competencies toward positive societal impact and a sense of meaningfulness derived from working in a chosen occupational domain) is observed to be relatively stable. However, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, circumstances have become anything but normal and predictable, thus putting employees' sense of occupational calling to the test. In this study, we investigate the possibility that occupational calling fluctuates across days during situations of crisis, and we identify antecedents and consequence of such fluctuations. To test our model, we conducted a daily diary study of 66 nurses working in intensive care units over 5 consecutive work days in a specialized Wuhan hospital that only admitted confirmed COVID-19 patients during the peak of the pandemic in China. We found that the daily number of code blue events (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts with the primary goal of patient revival) was positively related to daily occupational calling for nurses. Moreover, individual differences in prosocial motivation predicted the average level and variability of occupational calling over the 5 days, which subsequently related to the nurses' job performance. Our study sheds light on how occupational calling enables people with the needed occupational knowledge and skills to function effectively in crisis situations. We studied the effect of the GLP-1RA exenatide on skin microvascular function in patients with T2DM and CAD.

Thirty-five patients with T2DM, CAD, and HbA1C 42-86mmol/mol were randomized to treatment with exenatide or conventional non-GLP-1-based therapy for 12weeks. Skin microvascular function was examined in the forearm by LDF and iontophoretic application of acetyl choline and SNP, and by PORH at baseline and after 12weeks. Blood samples for fasting plasma glucose, HbA1C, and lipid profile were collected.

At 12weeks, patients on exenatide showed reductions in HbA1C (from 63.5±13 to 60.7±14mmol/mol, p=.065), body weight (from 92.6±16 to 89±16kg, p<.001), and systolic blood pressure (from 141±13 to 134±16mmHg, p<.05) as compared to the conventionally treated group. There were no significant changes in skin microvascular function between or within the two groups at follow-up.

Three months' daily treatment with the GLP-1RA exenatide in T2DM patients with CAD showed no significant effects on skin microvascular function or blood glucose control, while this study confirms a reduction in body weight and blood pressure by exenatide, as compared to conventional antidiabetic drug treatment.

This work aimed to investigate the soil Ge fractions and Ge binding to humic substances in paddy soil. Paddy soil samples taken from Changxing County, Zhejiang Province, China, were investigated by the sequential extraction method. Humic acid (HA) and fulvic acid (FA) isolated from paddy soils were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR) and 3-dimensional excitation-emission matrix (3D-EEM). The effect of humic substances on the binding of Ge was studied by fluorescence-quenching titration. Results showed that residual Ge was the dominant fraction in soil (up to 85%). The mobile Ge, organic matter bound Ge and easily reduceable compounds bound Ge accounted for approximately 10% of soil TGe and may represented critical labile pools of soil Ge. Organic matter bound Ge significantly correlated (r = 0.
