The transcripts of NtDREB1, NtDREB2, NtERD10A, NtERD10B, NtERD10C, NtERD10D, NtMnSOD, NtCDPK15, and NtMPK9 in AcSnRK2.11-overexpressing tobacco lines were more abundant than in WT plants under low-temperature stress. These results suggest that AcSnRK2.11 may function as a regulatory factor associated with a cold-response pathway and could be used in plant breeding for cold resistance. © King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology 2020.The present study was carried out to investigate the effect of individual drought, heat, and combined drought and heat stress on tomato plants. Combined stress resulted in the higher accumulation of Proline (101.9%), MDA (38.55%), H2O2 (101.19%), and lower levels of RWC (53.84%). Individual drought and heat stress decreased photosynthetic pigments like total chlorophyll content by (45.45%) and (25.35%), respectively, higher rates of pigment reduction (79.42%) were observed under combined drought and heat stress. Combined stress decreased PSII efficiency (Fv/Fm), quantum yield (ΦPSII), and photochemical efficiency (qp) and increased non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) levels. Moreover, the gas exchange parameters E, A, and Pn decreased by 5.36%, 36.45%, and 51.00%, respectively, in comparison to control plants. Antioxidant enzymes, SOD, APX, CAT, and GR showed a two- to threefold increase under combined drought and heat stress; however, the non-enzymatic antioxidants AsA and GSH displayed one-twofold increase unz City for Science and Technology 2020.Oculocutaneous albinism (OCA) is a rare autosomal recessive congenital condition characterized by reduced or absent production of the pigment melanin by melanocytes. The affected individuals have increased susceptibility to sunburn and skin cancers. Osteoporosis is a disease entity characterized by the progressive loss of bone mineral density and the deterioration of bone micro-architecture, leading to an increased risk of developing low-trauma fractures. There are many causes of osteoporosis, ranging from primary to secondary causes. Short stature is defined as height less than two standard deviations below the age-specific and gender-specific mean (less than the 2.5th percentile). There have been rare case reports of individuals with OCA having associated osteoporosis or low bone mineral density and short stature. These cases have also been associated with severe skeletal, neurological, and psychomotor disabilities. This paper presents a case of a young man with OCA and short stature who sustained a low-trauma intertrochanteric fracture to his femur bone and was subsequently diagnosed to have clinically significant osteoporosis. This case report while attempting to review the literature also emphasizes the importance of further research into the prevalence of these clinical features accompanying certain types of OCA and whether they are part of a single syndrome or just coincidental findings. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a global crisis rapidly since its initial outbreak in Wuhan, China, in December, 2019. Stroke due to LVO needs rapid assessment and timely endovascular intervention which can be very challenging during the time of pandemic where you need to deliver proper, safe, and timely care to acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients with LVO, yet, protecting healthcare workers and existing patients at the medical facility. In this article, we share our local experience in the stroke unit at Aseer Central Hospital which is the main hub of stroke patients in the southwestern part of Saudi Arabia and the primary regional COVID center to provide guidance to perform smooth, safe, and swift mechanical thrombectomy during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic as well as possible similar future situations. Feedback is a key component of the learning process in developing proficiency in these key skills. Video feedback (VF) has previously shown promise, however, negative effects of VF-related anxiety on performance have been previously reported. Our aim was to investigate for a difference in participant anxiety between supervised individualised video feedback (SIVF) and unsupervised generic video feedback (UGVF) when undertaking simulated basic practical procedures. Methods Undergraduate medical students participating in a clinical skills study to compare UGVF and SIVF completed a Likert scale questionnaire detailing perceived anxiety. During the study, students were recorded performing three basic surgical skills (simple interrupted suturing, intravenous cannulation, urinary catheterisation). Feedback was then provided by one of two methods (1) SIVF - participant video footage reviewed together with a tutor providing targeted feedback, and (2) UGVF - participant video footage reviewed alone with concurrent access to a generic pre-recorded 'expert tips' video clip for comparison. Each participant received SIVF and UGVF at least once. Results The majority of participants did not find either SIVF (81.7%) or UGVF (78.8%) stressful. Students had a strong preference for SIVF (77.5%) and disagreed that similar 'face-to-face' feedback had impaired learning in the past (80.3%). Conclusion Medical student-perceived anxiety is negligible when video feedback is employed during simulated core practical skill training. We present a case of a 53-year-old male who presented to the emergency department (ED) with altered mental status (AMS). Zanubrutinib inhibitor He was unresponsive with occasional eye opening. Initial labs were normal except for mildly elevated blood alcohol level. Serum ammonia levels were very high (305 umol/L). He improved with lactulose. He had similar admissions later on. Noncirrhotic hyperammonemia as a cause of AMS remains a diagnosis of exclusion requiring high index suspicion. Very few cases of late inborn errors of urea cycle disorders (UCDs) have been reported in the literature. Our case highlights the importance of early diagnosis of UCDs and that outcome can be excellent if treated aggressively. Once identified, adult-onset forms of the UCDs have a good prognosis-largely due to the initiation of preventative measures and earlier recognition of exacerbations.
