These promising effects of GEN are associated with improving granulosa cells proliferation. On the molecular basis, GEN reversed ovarian apoptosis through up-regulation of ER-β and FOXL-2 with downregulation of TGF-β expression, therefore inhibiting transition of primordial follicles to more growing follicles. GEN may constitute a novel therapeutic modality for safeguarding ovarian function of females' cancer survivors. An amendment to this paper has been published and can be accessed via a link at the top of the paper.Optical phase-gradient metasurfaces, whose unique capabilities are based on the possibility to arbitrarily control the phase of reflected/transmitted light at the subwavelength scale, are seldom characterized with direct measurements of phase gradients. Using numerical simulations and experimental measurements, we exploit the technique of scanning differential heterodyne microscopy (SDHM) for direct phase and amplitude characterization of gap-plasmon based optical metasurfaces. Two metasurface configurations utilizing the third-order gap surface plasmon (GSP) resonance, representing a binary grating and linear phase gradient, are experimentally characterized with the SDHM operating at the light wavelength of 633 nm. Comparing the experimental performances of these GSP metasurfaces with those expected from the phase and amplitude profiles reconstructed from the SDHM measurements, we verify the efficiency and accuracy of the developed SDHM characterization approach for direct inspection of GSP reflective metasurfaces. Two hypotheses have been proposed to explain the formation manner for visual working memory (VWM) representations during the consolidation process an all-or-none process hypothesis and a coarse-to-fine process hypothesis. However, neither the all-or-none process hypothesis nor the coarse-to-fine process hypothesis can stipulate clearly how VWM representations are formed during the consolidation process. In the current study, we propose a two-stage process hypothesis to reconcile these hypotheses. The two-stage process hypothesis suggests that the consolidation of coarse information is an all-or-none process in the early consolidation stage, while the consolidation of detailed information is a coarse-to-fine process in the late consolidation stage. By systematically manipulating the encoding time of memory stimuli, we asked participants to memorize one (Experiment 1) or two (Experiment 2) orientations in different encoding time intervals. We found that the memory rate increased linearly as the encoding time increased. More importantly, VWM precision remained constant when the encoding time was short, while the precision increased linearly as the encoding time increased when the encoding time was sufficient. These results supported the two-stage process hypothesis, which reconciles previous conflicting findings in the literature.Genetic basis of fat deposition in sheep tail have not been completely elucidated yet. Understanding the genetic mechanisms controlling fat-tail size can improve breeding strategies to modulate fat deposition. RNA sequencing has made it possible to discover genetic variants that may underlie various phenotypic differences. Hence, to identify genetic variants that are important for describing different fat-tail phenotypes in sheep, RNA sequencing was used for single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) calling in two Iranian sheep breeds (Lori-Bakhtiari, fat-tailed; n = 4, vs Zel, thin-tailed; n = 4). Using a stringent pipeline, a total of 112,344 known SNPs were genotyped, of which 30,550 and 42,906 SNPs were shared by at least two Lori-Bakhtiari and Zel, respectively. Comparing these SNPs showed 2,774 (including 209 missense and 25 deleterious SNPs) and 10,470 (including 1,054 missense and 116 deleterious SNPs) breed-specific SNPs in Lori-Bakhtiari and Zel sheep, respectively. Potential breed-specific SNPs were detected by considering those located in QTL regions associated with fatness or reported as important candidates in previous similar studies. Of the breed-specific SNPs, 724 and 2,905 were located in the QTL regions. Functional enrichment analysis of the affected genes revealed several enriched gene ontologies and KEGG pathways related to fat metabolism. Based on the results, several affected genes were proposed to be strongly linked with fat deposition such as DGAT2, ACSL1, ACACA, ADIPOQ, ACLY, FASN, CPT2, SCD, ADCY6, PER3, CSF1R, SLC22A4, GFPT1, CDS2, BMP6, ACSS2, ELOVL6, HOXA10 and FABP4. Moreover, several SNPs were found in the candidate genes related to fatty acid oxidation introducing them as promising candidates responsible for lower fat content in tail of Zel. Our findings provided new insights into the genetic mechanisms of fat deposition in sheep, which can serve to designing appropriate breeding programs.Although continental urban areas are relatively small, they are major drivers of environmental change at local, regional and global scales. Moreover, they are especially vulnerable to these changes owing to the concentration of population and their exposure to a range of hydro-meteorological hazards, emphasizing the need for spatially detailed information on urbanized landscapes. see more These data need to be consistent in content and scale and provide a holistic description of urban layouts to address different user needs. Here, we map the continental United States into Local Climate Zone (LCZ) types at a 100 m spatial resolution using expert and crowd-sourced information. There are 10 urban LCZ types, each associated with a set of relevant variables such that the map represents a valuable database of urban properties. These data are benchmarked against continental-wide existing and novel geographic databases on urban form. We anticipate the dataset provided here will be useful for researchers and practitioners to assess how the configuration, size, and shape of cities impact the important human and environmental outcomes.
To compare the effect of umbilical cord milking (UCM) vs. early cord clamping (ECC) on cerebral blood flow (CBF).
Preterm infants <31 weeks' gestation were randomized to receive UCM or ECC at birth. Blood flow velocities and resistive & pulsatility indices of middle and anterior cerebral arteries were measured at 4-6 and 10-12 h after birth as an estimate of CBF.
Randomization allocated 37 infants to UCM and 36 to ECC. Maternal and antenatal variables were similar. There were no significant differences between groups in middle or anterior CBF velocities and resistive indices at either study time point. CBF variables were not correlated with mean blood pressure, systemic blood flow, or intraventricular hemorrhage.
In very preterm infants, UCM compared with ECC was not shown to change CBF indices during the first 12 h of age or correlate with other hemodynamic measures or with intraventricular hemorrhage.
