Tai Chi (TC) is known to enhance balance control and walking function in stroke survivors. However, motor disorders in stroke patients may limit the implementation of TC exercise and increase the risk of falling. The body weight support (BWS) device can provide protection during the early rehabilitation of stroke survivors using an overhead suspension system. Theoretically, combining TC with BWS may be an effective intervention for stroke survivors. This study aimed to examine the effects of body weight support-Tai Chi training on balance control and walking function in stroke survivors with hemiplegia.

Seventy-one stroke survivors with hemiplegia aged 30-75 years were randomly allocated to the control group (

 = 35) or the BWS-TC group (

= 36). During BWS-TC training, the subjects performed 7 Tai Chi footwork forms, and gradual easy-to-difficult progression (from 40% to 0% body weight) was followed. TPX-0005 mw The subjects participated in 40 min rehabilitation sessions three times per week for 12 weeks. The primary outcome was dynamic balance in the limits-of-stability test. The secondary outcomes, which reflect improvements walking function, included spatiotemporal parameters, the joint range of motion in the affected limb during the swing phase, the Berg Balance Scale score, and the Fugl-Meyer Assessment score. Evaluations were performed at baseline and 12 weeks and compared between groups.

After training, significant between-group differences were observed in the scores for overall, forward, left, right, forward-left, and forward-right directional control in the limits-of-stability test (

< 0.05). Furthermore, the scores for gait cycle time, step length, step velocity, and range of motion of the joints were better in the BWS-TC group than in the control group (

< 0.05).

The 12-week BWS-TC training may enhance dynamic balance and walking function in stroke survivors with hemiplegia.

Our previous results from animal experiments showed that YNJ decreased blood glucose. This study aimed to examine the effect of high glucose and high lipid (HG/HL) conditions on the proliferation and apoptosis of INS-1 cells and the possible protective mechanism of YNJ-medicated serum on INS-1 cells exposed to HG/HL conditions. INS-1 cells were cultured in RPMI 1640 medium after being passaged. Then, INS-1 cells in the logarithmic growth phase were collected and divided into five groups control, HG/HL, HG/HL+5% YNJ-medicated serum, HG/HL+10% YNJ-medicated serum, and HG/HL+20% YNJ-medicated serum. MTT assay and flow cytometry were used to detect proliferation and apoptosis of INS-1 cells, respectively. Protein profiles of INS-1 cells were analyzed using a tandem mass tag (TMT) label-based quantitative proteomic approach. Western blotting was performed to verify the proteomic results. YNJ-medicated serum significantl-1 cells cultured under HG/HL conditions by regulating autophagy genes' expression and restoring the autophagic flux.To investigate the effect of sacral electroacupuncture (sEA) on the microbiota-gut-brain axis in the treatment of slow transit constipation, this study established a drug-induced model of slow transit constipation in rats and carried out sEA at the Baliao acupoints (BL31-BL34). On the 14th day of the therapeutic period (24 h fecal pellets), the aquaporin 3 (AQP3), 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), and substance P (SP) transcripts from the distal colon and hypothalamus were analyzed. 16S rDNA has been widely used to analyze the diversity of the microbial communities. Therefore, in the present study, changes in the intestinal microbiota were analyzed by 16S rDNA gene sequencing. The results showed that sEA significantly increased the number of fecal pellets and the water content in the feces and reduced the reabsorption of intestinal water in 24 h. sEA also upregulated the level of SP mRNA expression in the distal colon and the hypothalamus, but downregulated the level of 5-HT mRNA expression in the distal colon. Moreover, sEA improved the Bacteroidetes to Firmicutes (B/F) ratio, which is beneficial to the general structure of the intestinal microflora. Our findings suggested that the microbiota-gut-brain axis constitutes a crucial pathological basis in the development of slow transit constipation. sEA improved the slow transit constipation by regulating the balance of the microbiota-gut-brain axis.Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. Among breast cancer subtypes, triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has the highest degree of malignancy and the worst prognosis. The Shuganhuazheng formula (SGHZF) is a traditional Chinese herbal formula for the treatment of TNBC, but the mechanism of SGHZF in the treatment of TNBC remains unclear. In this study, the therapeutic effect and mechanism of SGHZF against TNBC were preliminarily determined based on in vivo experimental verification and network pharmacology. In terms of therapeutic effects, the antitumour effect was verified by measuring and calculating tumour volume, and the expression of proto-oncogene c-Myc was verified by PCR. In terms of the mechanism, potential therapeutic targets were identified by overlapping the SGHZF-related and TNBC-related targets. After comprehensively analysing the results of the protein-protein interaction (PPI), gene ontology (GO) function, and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses, Akt and HIF-1α were selected for verification by using immunohistochemical and Western blot analyses. The results of the study indicated that SGHZF can inhibit breast tumour growth in mice and that the mechanism may be related to the inhibition of Akt and HIF-1α expression.Eriodictyol is a flavonoid that belongs to a subclass of flavanones and is widespread in citrus fruits, vegetables, and medicinally important plants. Eriodictyol has been anticipated to explain the method of its activity via multiple cellular signaling cascades. Eriodictyol is an effective natural drug source to maintain higher health standards due to its excellent therapeutic roles in neuroprotection, cardioprotective activity, hepatoprotective activity, antidiabetes and obesity, and skin protection and having highly analgesic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects, antipyretic and antinociceptive actions, antitumor activity, and much more. This review aims to highlight the modes of action of eriodictyol against various diseases via multiple cellular signaling pathways.ObjectivesPremenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a common disturbance among women of childbearing age. Aromatherapy is a commonly used form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) to treat PMS. The purpose of this study is to quantify and summarize the effects of aromatherapy on premenstrual syndrome symptoms. Methods. PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library databases were searched through relevant search terms until October 2020. The effect sizes were pooled as weighted mean difference (WMD) and 95% confidence interval (CI) using the random effect model. Egger tests and visual inspection of the funnel plot were performed to identify the existence of publication bias. The I-squared (I2) test was applied to measure heterogeneity. Results. Eight studies (n = 8) were included in this analysis. The quantitative synthesis of evidence found that aromatherapy decreases PMS scores (WMD -13.83; 95% CI (-22.04, -5.63), I2 = 94.5%), total psychological symptoms of PMS (WMD -3.51; 95% CI (-4.84, -2.18), I2 = 82.6%), anxiety of PMS (WMD-1.78; 95% CI (-3.17, -0.38), I2 = 94.2%), depression of PMS (WMD-2.0; 95% CI (-3.65, -0.34), I2 = 93.7%), and fatigue of PMS (WMD - 1.44; 95% CI (-2.44, -0.44), I2 = 89.7%) compared to the control group. Conclusion. Aromatherapy is an effective tool for the relief of PMS symptoms. Additional randomized controlled clinical trials with different durations and essential oils should be conducted to confirm our findings.

In the present experimental study, male NMRI mice were exposed to chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) paradigm for 35 days. Diosmetin (at doses of 10, 20, and 40 mg/kg. i.p.) or diosmetin solvent (normal saline + DMSO, 1 ml/kg; i.p.) was administered 30 min before stress induction. After 28 days, memory and cognitive performance were assessed by shuttle box and novel object recognition tests. link2 Finally, antioxidant capacity (FRAP) and malondialdehyde (MDA) level of serum and brain, and serum corticosterone level were evaluated.

Behavioral tests showed that CUMS significantly reduced the secondary latency in passive avoidance memory test and diagnosis index in novel object recognition test compared to the control group (

< 0.001), whereas treatment with diosmetin (20 and 40 mg/kg) significantly improved memory performance in the two tests (

< 0.001). In addition, diosmetin (40 mg/kg) could pronouncedly suppress increase in serum corticosterone levels, reduction in antioxidant capacity, and production of excess MDA caused by CUMS compared to the control group (

< 0.01,

< 0.001, and

< 0.001, respectively).

Chronic stress can impair memory and cognition and treatment with diosmetin can partly improve this disorder in male mice by increasing the antioxidant capacity of brain tissue and serum and improving serum corticosterone levels.

The aim of this study was to investigate the protective mechanism of AZHJ in a mouse model of ACA-positive pregnancy at risk of spontaneous abortion using label-free quantitative proteomics. Mice were divided into three groups normal pregnant mice (control group), ACA-positive pregnant mice administered normal saline (model group), and ACA-positive pregnant mice administered AZHJ (AZHJ group). The model was established by injecting β2-glycoprotein I (GPI) into mice for 18 days. The DEPs and their functions were analyzed by label-free quantitative proteomic and bioinformatic analyses. The levels of IL-6, IL-10, ACA, and TNF-α in the serum and placentas of the mice were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs). Proteomic data were validated by western blot analysis. The abnormal serum and placental levels of IL-6, ACA, and TNF-α in the model group were reversed by AZHJ. There were 39 upregulated and 10 downregulated DEPs in the AZHJ group relative to the model group. Bioinformatic analysis revealed that the DEPs were mainly involved in nucleic acid binding, signal conduction, and posttranslational modification. The placental levels of T-cell immunoglobulin mucin 3 (Tim-3) and Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) expression and AKT phosphorylation in the three groups were consistent with the proteomic findings. Tim-3/AKT signaling is involved in maternal-fetal immune tolerance, while TLR4 is associated with inflammatory responses. link3 Collectively, these results indicate that AZHJ may exert its protective effect in ACA-positive pregnant mice by regulating the maternal-fetal immune tolerance and inflammatory response.
