Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-associated distal symmetric peripheral neuropathy (DSPN) is one of the most frequent neurological complications of HIV infection, and causes pain and dysaesthesias in millions globally. Many individuals with this infection report using acupuncture to manage their symptoms, but evidence supporting the use of acupuncture is limited. This systematic review will assess the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for patients with HIV-associated DSPN.

Databases including MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Scopus, Web of science, AMED (Allied and Complementary Medicine), the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, VIP Database and clinical trials registers (the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform portal and www.ClinicalTrials.gov) will be electronically searched from inception to December 1, 2020. All randomized controlled trials in English or Chinese without restrieffectiveness and safety of acupuncture for HIV-associated DSPN.

Epilepsy is 1 of the common neurodevelopmental diseases. It can affect about 0.5% to 1.0% of the population regardless of their race and social class. Despite the development of a wide range of treatments, there remaining about one-third of patients still experience seizures. Chinese herbal compounds containing scorpion (CHCCS) have shown an outstanding curative effect on nerve protection and epilepsy. BAY-218 cost But there's no study to assess its clinical efficacy and safety.

Each data of CHCCS in treating epilepsy from related English and Chinese databases will be searched. The primary outcome is the efficacy of the CHCCS on epilepsy. And the secondary outcomes include recurrence rate and side effects. The risk of bias will be assessed, and RevMan5.3 and Stata14.0 will be performed for meta-analysis. Finally, we will assess the level of the resulting evidence.

The results of the study will be combined with current evidence and published in a peer-reviewed journal.

This study will specifically investigate the effectiveness and safety of CHCCS in treating epilepsy.

A neglected Monteggia fracture is defined as the fracture of the proximal ulna associated with radial head dislocation (RHD) without undergoing any treatment for 4 weeks or more after injury. One-stage operation of ulnar corrective osteotomy and open reduction of RHD might result in many complications. Therefore, a two-stage strategy, including ulnar osteotomy (UO) with or without annular ligament reconstruction (ALR), was adopted at our institute since 2010.We performed a retrospective review of 51 patients with neglected Monteggia fracture between January 2010 and January 2018. Patients with bilateral problems or concomitant injuries in the ipsilateral extremity were excluded. Radiological and clinical data were collected from Hospital Database and clinical visits. All patients were divided into 2 groups based on the status of the ALR the UO alone (UO) group and the ALR group. There were 15 patients in the UO group and 36 patients in the ALR group. The age in the UO group (6.1 ± 2.3, year) was significantlt difference between the UO group (8.6 ± 3.2 months) and the ALR group (23.3 ± 12.6 months, P  less then  .001). Concerning the preoperative elbow function, there was no significant difference between the UO group (67.6 ± 5.0) and the ALR group (66.6 ± 4.4) according to the Mayo elbow performance score (MEPS) (P = .51). Concerning the postoperative parameters, including postoperative ROM of the joint, removal of external fixator (6.7 ± 0.8, 6.9 ± 0.9 weeks) (P = .55), lengthening (8.9 ± 2.5, 10.3 ± 2.5 mm) (P = .10) and MEPS (92.7 ± 2.1, 91.6 ± 2.1) (P = .08), there was no significant difference between the UO group and ALR group.Two-stage strategy is a reasonable choice for selected patients with long-lasting RHD with ulnar deformity.

Prognostic nutritional index (PNI) could reflect the nutrition and inflammation status in cancer patients. This study aims to identify the prognostic significance of PNI in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC).A total of 694 RCC patients from our institution were included in this study. The prognostic correlation between PNI and overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) was analyzed respectively using Kaplan-Meier method and univariate and multivariate Cox model. Studies about the association between pretreatment or preoperative PNI and prognosis of RCC were systemically reviewed and a meta-analysis method was performed to further evaluate the pooled prognostic value of PNI in RCC.267 (38.47%) RCC patients had low PNI according to the cut off value (49.08). Low PNI was associated with poor OS (P < .001) and RFS (P < .001), respectively. In the multivariate Cox analysis, PNI was identified to be an independent prognostic factor for OS (hazard ratio [HR] = 2.13, 95%CI 1.25-3.62, P = .ognosis of RCC patients.

Although some studies have reported the expression and clinical significance of phosphorylated signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (p-STAT3) in breast cancer tissues, it is still controversial whether p-STAT3 play a role in promoting or suppressing cancer. Here, we used immunohistochemistry analysis to explore expression of p-STAT3 in 407 cases of breast cancer, and analyzed the relationship between p-STAT3 expression and the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of breast cancer patients. Positive p-STAT3 expression was seen in 112 cases (27.5%) of breast cancer. p-STAT3 expression was negatively correlated with tumor size, tumor stage and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status, and the positive rate of p-STAT3 was lowest in HER2-enriched subtype breast cancer (15.3%), while other subtypes were luminal B (23.0%), luminal A (30.2%), and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) (37.5%). Logistic regression model multivariate analysis showed that the independent correlation factor of p-STAT3 expression in breast cancer was tumor size (OR = 0.
