The objective of this study is to understand the effect of nitrogen (N) fertilization on wheat biomass yield, quality, nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), and nitrogen nutrition index (NNI). The experiments were conducted in a greenhouse and a hoop house in a split-plot design, with three replications. Twenty wheat cultivars/lines were evaluated at four N rates (0, 75, 150, and 300 mg N.kg-1 soil) in the greenhouse and (0, 50, 100, and 200 mg N.kg-1 soil) in the hoop house. None of the cultivars/lines reached a plateau for biomass production or crude protein at the highest N rate. However, there are few reports on the most appropriate amount of oat hay in ruminant diets, the digestion and metabolism of ruminants, and the rumen microflora. To study the effects of oat hay content in diets on nutrient digestion and metabolism and the rumen microflora in sheep, 9 German Merino and Mongolian crossbred rams of similar body condition and weight with permanent fistulas were selected. The 3 × 3 Latin square design was used to randomly divide the rams into 3 groups, with 3 animals in each group. The three groups were fed different kinds of roughage whole-plant corn silage only (corn silage group, CSG), oat hay mixed with whole-plant corn silage (11) (mixed group, MG), and oat hay only (oat hay group, OHG). The nutrient digestion and metabolism of each group were measured, and the pH and rumen microflora were examined after feeding for different durations. While roles of SF3B1 in single intron splicing and roles of its cancer-linked mutant in aberrant splicing have been identified to some extent, regulatory functions of wild-type SF3B1 in alternative splicing (AS) are not well-understood yet. Here, we applied RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) to analyze genome-wide AS in SF3B1 knockdown (KD) cells and to identify a large number of skipped exons (SEs), with a considerable number of alternative 5' splice-site selection, alternative 3' splice-site selection, mutually exclusive exons (MXE), and retention of introns (RI). Among altered SEs by SF3B1 KD, survival motor neuron 2 (SMN2) pre-mRNA exon 7 splicing was a regulatory target of SF3B1. RT-PCR analysis of SMN exon 7 splicing in SF3B1 KD or overexpressed HCT116, SH-SY5Y, HEK293T, and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) patient cells validated the results. A deletion mutation demonstrated that the U2 snRNP auxiliary factor 65 kDa (U2AF65) interaction domain of SF3B1 was required for its function in SMN exon 7 splicing. In addition, mutations to lower the score of the polypyrimidine tract (PPT) of exon 7, resulting in lower affinity for U2AF65, were not able to support SF3B1 function, suggesting the importance of U2AF65 in SF3B1 function. Furthermore, the PPT of exon 7 with higher affinity to U2AF65 than exon 8 showed significantly stronger interactions with SF3B1. Hepatic NK cells share a common niche with uveal melanoma micro-metastasis within the liver sinusoids. Corporate innovation in high-polluting industries improves the energy consumption efficiency and reduces the emission of air pollutant, which mitigates the conflict between environment and economy. link2 Using the sample of China's listed firms from 2010 to 2017, this study examines the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and financialization on corporate innovation in high-polluting industries. The results show that there is a positive association between CSR and corporate innovation, while there is a negative association between financialization and corporate innovation. Furthermore, the financialization of high-polluting firms can alleviate the promotion role of CSR in the innovation process. The financialization of state-owned enterprises in high-polluting industries may not have a crowding-out effect on research and development (R&D), but it can limit the R&D promotion effect of CSR engagements. In contrast, the financialization of non-state-owned enterprises will hinder corporate innovation, but it will not affect the association between CSR and technology innovation. We also find that the financialization of high-polluting firms with low financial constraints can alleviate the promotion role of CSR engagements in innovation. Meanwhile, the CSR engagements of high-polluting firms with high financial constraints play a stronger role in corporate innovation. During the implementation of environmental policies, the negative association between financialization and corporate innovation has been strengthened. Our findings can encourage high-polluting firms to make more efforts in environmental protection and social stability.Increases in the wild boar Sus scrofa population create many conflicts that must be managed, especially because hunting represents a major cause of mortality in this game species. However, hunting effort is not distributed randomly and is influenced by many factors, including hunting methods. This can be especially important in understanding the nature of hunting pressure for both theoretical (ecological and evolutionary) and applied reasons (for management purposes, especially during infectious diseases, for example, African swine fever, outbreaks). We analyzed hunting data from the survey area in Western Poland from the years 1965-2016. In this period a total of 2335 wild boar were culled using two hunting methods by individual hunters (43.8%) and by teams of hunters (52.0%). During the study period, the number of wild boars increased significantly but in a non-linear manner. More adult males and yearlings of both sexes were shot during individual hunts; more adult females were culled during team hunting. Moreover, the body mass of culled wild boars was positively influenced by the distance to a forest and during the team hunts heavier females and males were shot. To effectively control populations of wild boars, programs to reduce the number of individuals should be better planned and ensure the maintenance of proper age- and sex structure in the wild boar population.The oceans have been the Earth's most valuable source of food. AFPs function by reducing the water's freezing point and avoiding ice crystals' growth in the frozen stage. Their capability in modifying ice growth leads to the stabilization of ice crystals within a given temperature range and the inhibition of ice recrystallization that decreases the drip loss during thawing. This review presents the potential applications of AFPs from different sources and types. link3 AFPs can be found in diverse sources such as fish, yeast, plants, bacteria, and insects. Various sources reveal different α-helices and β-sheets structures. Recently, analysis of AFPs has been conducted through bioinformatics tools to analyze their functions within proper time. AFPs can be used widely in various aspects of application and have significant industrial functions, encompassing the enhancement of foods' freezing and liquefying properties, protection of frost plants, enhancement of ice cream's texture, cryosurgery, and cryopreservation of cells and tissues. In conclusion, these applications and physical properties of AFPs can be further explored to meet other industrial players. Designing the peptide-based AFP can also be done to subsequently improve its function.In this paper, a novel interference free dual-hop device-to-device (D2D) aided cooperative relaying strategy (CRS) based on spatial modulation (SM) (termed D2D-CRS-SM) is proposed. In D2D-CRS-SM, two cellular users (e.g., a near user (NU) and a relay-aided far user (FU)) and a pair of D2D transmitter (D1)-receivers (D2) are served in two time-slots. Two different scenarios are investigated considering information reception criteria at the NU. Irrespective of the scenarios, the base station (BS) exploits SM to map information bits into two sets modulation bits and antenna index, in phase-1. In the first scenario, the BS maps FU information as the modulation bits and NU information as antenna index, whereas modulation bits correspond to NU information and the antenna index carries FU's information in scenario-2. The iterative-maximum ratio combining (i-MRC) technique is then used by NU and D1 to de-map their desired information bits. During phase-2, D1 also exploits SM to forward FU's information received from BS and its own information bits to the D2D receiver D2.
