An iron-mediated highly selective C-H sulfonylmethylation of aniline derivatives with p-toluenesulfonylmethyl isocyanide in a mixture solvent of H2O and PEG400 under an Ar atmosphere has been realized. This transformation proceeds with operational convenience, use of earth-abundant metal catalyst and nontoxic media, broad substrate scope, and good functional group tolerance. The current methodology could be applied to the regioselective C-H sulfonylmethylation of indolines, tetrahydroquinolines, and tertiary anilines. The programmed arylation of purine has been developed to construct a series of efficient thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) materials. The corresponding organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) exhibit external quantum efficiency as high as 16.0% alongside small efficiency roll-off. Intriguingly, this work proves that the good management of localized states is an efficient way to reduce device efficiency roll-off and is crucial for the future design of high-performance OLEDs.A heterobimetallic zinc/strontium catalyst has been developed for the asymmetric Michael addition of 3-acetoxy-2-oxindoles to β-ester enones in high yields with excellent enantioselectivities and high diastereoselectivities. This process represents that 3-acetoxy-2-oxindoles can be used as a stable air- and base-tolerant precursor for chiral 3-substituted 3-hydroxy-2-oxindoles.In this study, we prepared a series of conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) through Sonogashira-Hagihara cross-couplings of a tetrabenzonaphthalene (TBN) monomer with pyrene (Py), tetraphenylethylene (TPE), and carbazole (Car) units and examined their chemical structures, thermal stabilities, morphologies, crystallinities, and porosities. TBN-TPE-CMP possessed a high surface area (1150 m2 g-1) and thermal stability (Td10 = 505 °C; char yield = 68 wt %) superior to those of TBN-Py-CMP and TBN-Car-CMP. To improve the conductivity of the TBN-CMP materials, we blended them with highly conductive single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). Electrochemical measurements revealed that the TBN-Py-CMP/SWCNT nanocomposite had high capacitance (430 F g-1) at a current density of 0.5 A g-1 and outstanding capacitance retention (99.18%) over 2000 cycles; these characteristics were superior to those of the TBN-TPE-CMP/SWCNT and TBN-Car-CMP/SWCNT nanocomposites.Conventional measurements of kinetic constants currently in use are performed at equilibrium and may require large volumes, especially at a low association rate constant kon. If the measurements are made out of equilibrium, the values obtained may be biased by dilution of the sample with the flow of the running buffer. In some applications, the available sample volume can be very critical and requires the development of tools to measure kinetic constants with low volumes. In this paper, by combining an experimental, numerical and modeling approach, we propose a surface plasmon resonance-based method that relies on an out-of-equilibrium measurement using the effect of dilution by flow to its advantage. This new method should have a significant impact in biochemistry and medical research.Self-assembly of synthetic molecules has been drawing broad attention as a novel emerging approach in drug discovery. Here, we report selective cell death induced by a novel peptide amphiphile that self-assembles to form entangled nanofibers (hydrogel) based on intracellular pH (pHi). We found that a palmitoylated hexapeptide (C16-VVAEEE) formed a hydrogel below pH 7. The formation of the nanofibrous self-assembly was responsive to a small pH change around pH 7. The cytotoxicity of C16-VVAEEE was correlated with pHi of cells. Microscope observation demonstrated the self-assembly of C16-VVAEEE inside HEK293 cells. In vivo experiments revealed that the transcutaneous administration of C16-VVAEEE showed remarkable anti-tumor activity. This study proposes that distinct microenvironment inside living cells can be used as a trigger for the intracellular self-assembly of a peptide amphiphile, which provide a new clue to drug discovery.A group of highly efficient and divergent transformations for constructing multiple DNA-linked chemotypes based on a piperidone core were successfully developed. We reported the first procedure for the synthesis of a DNA-conjugated piperidine intermediate under basic conditions. Subsequently, this substructure was subjected to additional reactions to generate several privileged scaffolds, including 4-aminopiperidine, fused [1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine, and a quinoline derivative. These transformations paved the way for constructing focused scaffold-based DNA-encoded libraries with druglike properties. In February 2020 the first COVID-19 case was reported in Italy and afterwards the virus started spreading rapidly, increasing dramatically the number of infected subjects. To face the pandemic outbreak, hospitals converted wards to assure COVID-19 patients' care and adopted measures to reduce virus diffusion. The aim of this study was to determine how many physiotherapists, in the Lombardy region, worked during pandemic, whether they continued their usual practice or were employed in COVID-19 wards and in which tasks they were involved. The survey was submitted online by the national professional order. The response rate was 11.79%. During the pandemic, 648 (53.9%) respondents interrupted their services. Less than 20% of the physiotherapists that continued working were assigned to COVID-19 wards with the role of physiotherapist. Only a small proportion of respondents had advanced skills in respiratory physiotherapy. Moreover, this study showed a limited involvement of physiotherapists inside the very acute and intense settings. In conclusion, this work revealed that, during COVID-19 pandemic, in the Lombardy region a small percentage of physiotherapists was employed in COVID-19 wards, mainly in post-acute context. Pluripotin molecular weight Even though the response rate of this survey was very low, this study highlights the need to define and underline the role of physiotherapy in acute setting during emergency.Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) targeting epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) are effectively used in treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Mutation profile of tyrosine kinase domain of EGFR determines the eligibility of the patients for tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy. Liquid biopsy, which relies on circulating tumor-derived nucleic acids, has emerged as an effective tool in lung cancer management with proven diagnostic, prognostic and predictive applications. We screened 100 subjects, suspected to have lung malignancy, for four hotspot mutations including three activating (G719S, Ex19del E746-A750 and L858R) and one acquired (T790M, de novo) in EGFR gene by droplet digital PCR (ddPCR). While 97 subjects were subsequently confirmed to have lung malignancy based on histo/cytopathological studies, three cases turned out to be non-malignant lung pathologies that were completely cured by antibiotic therapy. Intriguingly, ddPCR revealed the presence of EGFR mutations in these non-malignant subjects. Two cases showed the presence of G719S and T790M mutations respectively and another had compound mutations (T790M and L858R). The detection of EGFR mutations in non-malignant pulmonary conditions opens up a new area of research.

One of the efforts made to return people with severe mental illness to the community is to prepare with sufficient skills so then they can return to a productive life. The purpose of this study was to develop a vocational social rehabilitation model to increase the independence of the instrumental activity of daily living (ADL) among people with severe mental illness.

The study was conducted in 2 stages. Phase 1 used an observational design with a cross sectional approach. It was conducted at the Menur Mental Hospital from March to July 2020. The population of this study were all people with severe mental illness with a psychotic degree scoring ≥ 30. The total sample was 100. The data was analyzed using the Partial Least Square. The second phase was carried out by compiling modules from strategic issues and conducting expert consultations.

The results of phase 1 showed that the instrumental ADL independence was directly influenced by perceived behavior, memory phase, motivation phase, skills and intention. Additionally it is indirectly influenced by socio-demography, mental illness severity, attitude towards behavior, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, attention, retention, motor reproduction, motivation and skill. The results of the phase 2 carried out were used to compile modules based on the stages of vocational rehabilitation consisting of determining eligibility, preparatory counseling, implementing rehabilitation, evaluation and ongoing support.

The vocational social rehabilitation model is related to the independence of the Instrumental ADL among people with severe mental illness.

the aim was to verify the association between Major Depressive Disorders (MDD) and the risk of premature death in people with oncological diseases, and to collect evidence about the causality of a possible association from a longitudinal perspective.

it is a cohort study lasting 9 months, involving people with solid or hematologic cancers. The assessment was conducted by an ad hoc form to collect socio-demographic and clinical-oncological data, the PHQ-9 to screen MDD (cut-off ≥10) and the SF-12 to evaluate HRQoL. Relative Risk (RR) of early death between MDD exposed and not-exposed and Kaplan-Meier survival were carried out.

people exposed to MDD during the follow-up were 107/263 (40.7%). Among them, 36 deceased during the observation period. Overtime, having MDD and death' occurrence showed a strong association (RR=2.15; 95% CI (1.10-4.20); χ²=5.224, p=0.0022), confirmed by Kaplan-Meier survival analysis (χ²=4.357, p=0.037). Among people who died, there was not any association between MDD, age, gender, HRQoL, cancer stage and site.

the study confirms the association between MDD and early death in people with cancer. The absence of any association between the onset of MDD and advanced stage of cancer may suggest that it could be due to the consequences of MDD in worsening the clinical conditions related to cancer. The findings point out the relevance of MDD' early detention among people with cancer.

Following the introduction of the Affordable Care Act, various studies have tried to identify the effects of the Reform, without reaching a clear consensus. The aim of this study was to investigate whether expansion of the Medicaid program has led to less inequality in access to health care and to a higher level of ex-ante moral hazard.

The analysis was conducted on two-year longitudinal data (2014-2015) regarding a cohort of 15,898 individuals from a Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS). After a data cleaning procedure, a sample of 9,255 individuals was selected for the inequality part of the study and 2,307 for the ex-ante moral hazard analysis. Propensity score matching with nearest-neighbour and kernel matching algorithms, difference-in-difference models and concentration index, corrected according to Erreygers methodology, were adopted.

The analysis showed that disparities were reduced between social classes although the ex-ante moral hazard is a real problem with the Affordable Care Act since individuals covered by public insurance tended to abuse the public service.
