To analyze the impact of South Asia's first cadaveric hands-on workshop on urologists' training in inflatable penile prosthesis surgery.

A total of 72 urologists/andrologists participated in the 2019 South Asian Society for Sexual Medicine Pre-congress Penile Prosthesis hands-on workshop. The workshop included 4h of lectures and 2h of hands-on cadaveric laboratory experience using three-piece inflatable penile prosthesis. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used on self-rated procedural confidence levels, which proved the normality. A non-parametric McNemar test was used to examine the change in the number of correct answers.

Of those who attended the cadaver laboratory, just 45 who answered the survey both before and after the workshop were included for analysis. Significant objective improvements were noted in procedural knowledge test scores (44.30±0.027 vs 72.44±0.024, P<0.05) and median surgical confidence levels (4 vs 3 and 2, P<0.001) of the urologists after the completion of the workshop.

The feasibility of such workshops should be considered in increasing the surgical expertise of general urologists in prosthetic urology.The realizing of high-performance rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) with high energy density and long cycling life is promising but still challenging due to the lack of suitable layered cathode materials. The work reports the excellent zinc-ion storage performance as-observed in few-layered ultrathin VSe2 nanosheets with a two-step Zn2+ intercalation/de-intercalation mechanism verified by ex situ X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) characterizations. The VSe2 nanosheets exhibit a discharge plateau at 1.0-0.7 V, a specific capacity of 131.8 mAh g-1 (at 0.1 A g-1 ), and a high energy density of 107.3 Wh kg-1 (at a power density of 81.2 W kg-1 ). More importantly, outstanding cycle stability (capacity retention of 80.8% after 500 cycles) without any activation process is achieved. Such a prominent cyclic stability should be attributed to its fast Zn2+ diffusion kinetics (DZn2+ ≈ 10-8 cm-2 s-1 ) and robust structural/crystalline stability. Density functional theory (DFT) calculation further reveals a strong metallic characteristic and optimal zinc-ion diffusion pathway with a hopping energy barrier of 0.91 eV. The present finding implies that 2D ultrathin VSe2 is a very promising cathode material in ZIBs with remarkable battery performance superior to other layered transitional metal dichalcogenides.Human hair keratins (HHK) are known for their biocompatibility and potential to regulate cell response, possibly due to the presence of the leucine-aspartic-valine cell adhesion and signaling motifs. Together with the abundance of cysteine residues in HHK, 3D HHK scaffolds are fabricated through cryogelation based on spontaneous disulfide crosslinks and noncovalent interactions. Herein, the molecular mechanism of HHK self-assembly during cryogelation is interrogated and the influence of cryogelation parameters on the properties of the resultant scaffolds is studied. With successive freeze-thaw cycles, the storage modulus (G') of HHK cryogels substantially improves from 116.4 Pa at freeze-thaw cycle 3 (FT3) to 1908.7 Pa at freeze-thaw cycle 10 (FT10). Meanwhile, it is found that complete thiol-capping of HHK samples significantly inhibits cryogel formation as compared to partially or uncapped HHK samples, suggesting the dominant role of disulfide stabilization in cryogelation. Finally, uniaxial compression tests on HHK sponges demonstrate that FT cycling, from 0 to 10, is able to improve the compression modulus of sponges by ≈12-folds. These findings show that macroscale properties of HHK cryogels can be conveniently modulated by physical parameters of cryogelation and that disulfide bonding is the main stabilizing force in HHK cryogels.

line H. pylori eradication therapy includes treatment with clarithromycin in combination with amoxicillin or metronidazole and a proton pump inhibitor. However, potential adverse events caused by such therapies to microbiome are insufficiently studied.
