As the most abundant biological entities, viruses are major players in marine ecosystems. However, our knowledge about virus-host interactions and viral ecology in the deep sea remains very limited. In this study, a novel bacteriophage (designated as phage BVE2) infecting Bacillus cereus group bacteria, was isolated from deep-sea sediments. Phage BVE2 caused host lysis within 1.5 h after infection. However, the presence of two integrase-encoding genes in the BVE2 genome suggested that BVE2 may also follow a temperate strategy. The genome of phage BVE2 is approximately 20 kb in length and is predicted to encode 28 proteins. Genomic and phylogenetic analysis suggested that BVE2 is a highly mosaic phage that has inherited genetic features from Wbeta-like viruses, B. cereus prophages, and its host, suggesting that frequent horizontal gene transfer events occurred during its evolution. This study will help to reveal the evolutionary history of Wbeta-like viruses and improve our understanding of viral diversity and virus-host interactions in the deep sea.Characterizing soil bacterial community is important to understand microbial distribution affected by environmental factors. Here, we investigated the bacterial communities distributed from different location on Nanshazhou island, South China Sea. We collected and compared soil bacterial communities from central island, intertidal island, and inshore island. Results showed no difference in the bacterial richness and diversity for the soils from the three different locations. However, weighted and unweighted UniFrac distances analysis revealed that the three soil samples were clearly separated from each other. Five bacterial phyla, including Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Verrucomicrobia, Spirochaetes and Tenericutes were more abundant in the inshore island sample; while Deinococcus-Thermus was more abundant in the intertidal island sample; and the central island sample had more abundant Gemmatimonadetes and Planctomycetes. Bacterial structure showed significantly positive relationships with organic matter content, but it was significantly negatively correlated with sodium content. FGF401 order Furthermore, a network analysis based on Spearman correlation coefficients showed that there were similar numbers of positive and negative correlations within the bacterial community of Nanshazhou island. Our results revealed that the soil bacterial communities in the three sampling sites were easily affected by environmental fluctuations.A Gram-negative, motile, aerobic, and rod-shaped strain (MIC 1.5T) was isolated from soil in Changguangxi national wetland park. Growth occurred at 20-45 °C, at pH 6.0-8.0, and at 0-4.0% NaCl. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain MIC 1.5T was related to were identified as Luteimonas dalianensis CGMCC 1.12191T (95.3%), Luteimonas padinae DSM 101536T (94.5%), Luteimonas huabeiensis DSM 26429T (94.1%), and Luteimonas mephitis DSM 12574T (92.5%). The DNA-DNA relatedness values between strain MIC 1.5T , and these strains were well below 31%. The polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, and diphosphatidylglycerol. The DNA G+C content of strain MIC 1.5T was 66.3 mol%. Average nucleotide identity (ANI) and genome-to-genome distance (GGD) values between strain MIC 1.5T and L. dalianensis CGMCC 1.12191T were 65.39% and 29.52%, respectively. The quinone was identified as Q-8. The major fatty acids were iso-C150, iso-C150 3OH, and iso-C170 3OH and summed feature 3 (C161ω7c and/or iso-C150 2-OH). Based on the phylogenetic, physiological, and chemotaxonomic results, strain MIC 1.5T represents a novel species of the genus Luteimonas, for which the name Luteimonas cellulosilyticus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is MIC 1.5T (= KACC 19469T = CCTCC AB 2017256T).In order to evaluate the level of atmospheric pollution in the north of Western Siberia, we studied the composition of urban snow in the vicinity of the Tazovsky settlement as well as in the area of Zapolyarnoye-the largest natural gas field in Russia in terms of a total extraction volume. Our results indicate that anthropogenic activities have caused an increase in electric conductivity and pH values of meltwaters. Concentrations of dissolved and particulate forms of trace elements (Fe, Mn, Ni, Cr, Cu, Pb, Zn, and Cd) were determined using atomic absorption spectroscopy. Dissolved forms of Cd, Zn, and Mn and particulate forms of Cu, Fe, and Ni prevailed in meltwaters of background territories. Human-affected territories were characterized by a predominance of particulate forms of trace elements (except Cd), which indicated increased dust deposition rates. For Cu, Mn, and Fe, mean values of contamination factor (CF) exceeded background levels by 4.4, 4.7, and 6.6 times, respectively. At some sampling sites, concentrations of trace elements exceeded background levels by 10-111 times. The concentration of Zn in our study area was higher than those in other oil and gas fields located in polar and boreal regions. The Cd concentration in the vicinity of the Tazovsky settlement was higher than those in other cities of Western Siberia. The data obtained in the present study on concentrations of soluble and particulate forms of trace elements in snow will be valuable for environmental protection in Russia's Arctic territory.PURPOSE Chronic anterior glenohumeral joint instability is a common situation and can lead to progressive cartilage deterioration and ultimately instability arthopathy. Progressive cartilage deterioration can occur despite conservative or surgical treatment and the sequelae of these conditions are often addressed with total shoulder arthroplasty. Aims of the present study were to analyze the available literature to describe the technical aspects of this particular operation and to report outcomes and complication rates. The hypothesis was that shoulder arthropalsty in the sequelae of instability had lower outcomes and higher complication rates than arthroplasties for primary arthritis. METHODS A systematic review of the literature was performed, in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. PubMed, Ovid, Cochrane Reviews, and Google Scholar were comprehensively searched using a combination of the following keywords shoulder arthroplasty, reverse shoulder arthroplasty, dislocation arthropathy, capsulorrhaphy arthropathy and stabilization procedures.
