The framework can provide concrete direction for sexual and reproductive health practitioners and researchers by providing a platform for recognising and operationalising indicators of healthy sexuality development, and serve as a Theory of Change for programmes aiming to improve adolescent sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing. Our assets-based, life-course approach can also be used to make the case to donors and policymakers for why early investments and positive approaches to adolescent sexuality are needed to achieve sexual wellbeing over time.

Epithelioid angiosarcoma is a rare soft tissue sarcoma with a poor prognosis. We report two cases of patients who presented with a history of lower back pain, inflammatory signs and weight loss 5 and 6 years after endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) of an elective infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Imaging suggested graft infection but tissue samples revealed an epithelioid angiosarcoma. The objective is to report the clinical presentation, investigative modalities and immunohistochemical findings of an angiosarcoma after EVAR.

Two cases are described of an angiosarcoma of the aorta after EVAR. A literature search using PubMed, Embase and Web of Science was performed in English about angiosarcoma after EVAR published between 2007 and 2021. Relevant reports were selected and analysed.

Fifteen case reports were identified, including the current two cases. Time to tumour detection after EVAR ranged from 6 to 120 months with a mean interval of 68 months. Most patients underwent endovascular repair ofrential diagnosis in patients previously treated with EVAR presenting with unintended weight loss, abdominal back pain and contrast enhancement of the aortic wall.AbbreviationsAAAabdominal aortic aneurysmCTAcomputed tomography angiographyCRPc-reactive proteinEVARendovascular aortic repairESRerythrocyte sedimentation rateFDGfluoro-deoxyglucoseMRImagnetic resonance imagingMeSHmedical subject headings.Dairy cattle manure with bedding (CB), including manure, urine, water, and shavings, is lignocellulosic biomass and needs to be pre-treated in anaerobic reactors to enhance biomass digestibility. This study analyzed the technical and economic feasibility of physical treatment (milling) and alkaline treatment of CB for biogas production. Pre-treatment included drying, milling, and alkaline hydrolysis at room temperature for 24 h. Maximum biogas production was determined using the biochemical methane potential (BMP) test. Physicochemical analyses were performed to characterise CB before and after pre-treatment and the BMP test. The characteristics of the lignocellulosic material were examined by scanning electron microscopy. The economic feasibility (return on investment) of each treatment (USD per ton of CB) was determined. Treatment with 3% NaOH achieved the highest biogas production (771 mL per kg of volatile solids) and was 104.5% higher than that of milling and 124.7% higher than that of chemical pre-treatment with 4% NaOH. The analysis of economic feasibility showed that the payback period of treatment with 3% NaOH was 1.4 years for scenario 1 (continuous stirred tank reactor - CSTR) and 3 years for scenario 2 (covered lagoon digester). These results demonstrate the feasibility of producing biogas as a renewable energy source via the anaerobic digestion of CB.This issue of the European Journal of Sport Science includes 8 invited state-of-the-science narrative reviews by well-established researchers in the area of military performance focused on (a) physical training; (b) musculoskeletal injury; (c) adaptive bone formation and stress fracture prevention; (d) sex differences in responses to military stress; (e) load monitoring in military settings; (g) circulating biomarkers related to resilience during military stress; (H) military nutrition research; and (I) development of military exoskeletons. Important historical, current and future scientific and research information and guidance within the context of sustained and improved military physical performance and readiness are provided. Conclusions and recommendations for protecting Soldier health and resiliency include (1) combined physical training emphasizing higher intensity but lower volume; (2) musculoskeletal injury risk factors most supported from the literature include female sex, prior injury and low fitness; (3) adequate sleep, vitamin D, calcium, and energy availability are all critical for creating a resilient skeleton protecting against stress fractures; (4) differences between men and women when exposed to military stress include cardiovascular strain, fat oxidation, and psychological health risk; (5) biomarkers (cortisol, epi/norepi, ILs 4, 6, 10, 18 and TNF-alpha, IGF-I, testosterone, DHEA) offer insight for internal stress; (6) monitoring physiological training load should include consideration for multiple inputs, rather than a single measure; (7) nutrition optimization includes determining operational requirements, nutritional practices and nutrient delivery strategies; and (8) future generation exoskeletons will achieve a better balance of intended movement based on individual user and interactions with internal and external constraints.Developing new antibacterial drugs by using traditional ways is insufficient to meet existing challenges; hence, new strategies in the field of antibacterial discovery are necessary. T-705 mw An alternative strategy is to improve the efficacy of currently available antibiotics. Herein, the antibacterial efficacy of drugs (Cefixime, Sulfamethoxazole, and Moxifloxacin) and drug-loaded cinnamic acid-coated magnetic iron oxide and mesoporous silica nanoparticles (NPs) was elucidated versus Gram-negative bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, neuropathogenic Escherichia coli K1 and Serratia marcescens) and Gram-positive bacteria (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Bacillus cereus). NPs were synthesized by co-precipitation and the Stöber method, and characterized by Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy, Zetasizer, and Atomic force microscopy. Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) assays were accomplished to determine drug cytotoxicity against human cells. Spherical NPs in the range of 118-362 nm were successfully synthesized. Antibacterial assays revealed that drugs conjugated with NPs portray enhanced bactericidal efficacies against multiple drug resistant bacteria compared to the drugs alone. Of note, Cefixime-conjugated NPs against Escherichia coli K1 and Methicillin- resistant Staphylococcus aureus, resulted in the complete eradication of all bacterial isolates tested at significantly lower concentrations compared to the antibiotics alone. Likewise, conjugation of Moxifloxacin resulted in the complete elimination of E. coli K1 and MRSA. Of note, nano-formulated drugs presented negligible cytotoxicity against human cells. These results depict potent, and enhanced efficacy of nano-formulated drugs against medically important bacteria and can be used as alternatives to current antibiotics. Future in vivo studies and clinical studies are warranted in prospective years to realize these expectations.

To assess the impact of periprocedural factors, including adverse events, on overall patient survival following image-guided liver tumor cryoablation procedures.

In this retrospective single-institution study, 143 patients (73 male, 70 female, ages 29-88) underwent 169 image-guided liver tumor cryoablation procedures between October 1998 and August 2014. Patient, tumor and procedural variables were recorded. The primary outcome was overall survival post-procedure (Kaplan-Meier analysis). Secondary outcomes were the impact of 15 variables on patient survival, which were assessed with multivariate cox regression and log-rank tests.

Mean tumor diameter was 2.5 ± 1.2 cm. 26 of 143 (18.2%) patients had primary hepatic malignancies; 117 of 143 (81.8%) had liver metastases. Survival analysis revealed survivor functions at 3, 5, 7, 10 and 12 years post-ablation of 0.54, 0.37, 0.30, 0.17 and 0.06, with mean survival time of 40.8 ± 4.9 months. Tumor size ≥4 cm (

= .018), pre-procedural platelet count <100 ×  decreased survival.Aim In oncology, thermal therapy is the application of external heat to fight cancer cells. The goal of whole-body thermal treatment (WBTT) is to raise the patient's core temperature to 39-42 °C, and represents the only thermal treatment modality that can act on both the primary tumor and distant metastases. However, WBTT carries potential risks for toxicity when applied without accurate thermometry and monitoring. Methods ElmediX has developed a medical device, HyperTherm, to deliver long-term controlled and accurate WBTT (41.5 °C, up to 8 h). The safety of the device and thermal treatment protocol was initially evaluated in minipigs, and we present the confirmation of tolerability of WBTT in dogs with advanced cancer, in combination with a reduced dose of radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Results Thermometry in liver, rectum, and tumor confirmed a homogeneous heating of these body parts. Monitoring of clinical parameters showed acceptable and reversible changes in liver, cardiac, muscle and coagulation parameters, as was expected. Combination of WBTT with both radiotherapy and chemotherapy only caused some low-grade adverse events. Conclusion We conclude that our findings support the safe use of HyperTherm-mediated WBTT for canine patients with advanced malignancies. They also tend to support a genuine therapeutic potential for long-term WBTT which needs to be confirmed on a larger dog patient population. Combined with previously reported safety results in minipigs, these contribute to support the ongoing clinical evaluation of WBTT in advanced human cancer patients. While child marriage persists in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), little is known about its influence on institutional delivery/high-risk births (IDHRB). We analyzed pooled data on young women aged 15-24 (N = 113,588) from the most recent Demographic and Health Surveys of 31 SSA countries to examine the influence of child marriage on IDHRB. Binary logistic regression analysis was done to explore statistically significant relationships. Findings showed that unskilled delivery was significantly higher among women who married before age 15 (67.2%) and at ages 16-17 (48.2%) compared to those who married at age 18+ (30.2%). The prevalence of high-risk birth was higher among women who married before age 15 (97.2%) and at ages 16-17 (80.8%) compared to those who married at 18+ (48.4%). Inferential analysis showed that respondents who married before age 15 and at ages 16-17, respectively, had five-fold and two-fold higher odds of experiencing unskilled delivery compared to those who married at age 18 +. Odds of having high-risk births were significantly higher among child-brides compared to those who had first marriage as adults. This study concludes that policies/programs that would successfully delay first marriage among women must be pursued to reduce high-risk births and unskilled delivery in SSA.This study evaluated the impact of vitamin D on Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVEC) and inflammation in placental explants from women with preeclampsia (PE). HUVEC and explants from 10 late-onset PE (LOPE), 10 early-onset (EOPE), and 10 normotensive (NT) pregnant women were cultured with/without tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) and VD. Interleukin-1β (IL-1β), 18 (IL-18), TNF-α, and TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) were detected by ELISA. High mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) was determined by qPCR/Western blotting, and cell death by flow cytometry. Statistical significance was accepted at p less then .05. Compared to the NT group, the endogenous levels of IL-1β, TNF-α, and IL-18 were higher in the PE group. The stimulus with TNF-α increased cytokines in NT, TNF-α in EOPE/LOPE, IL-18 in LOPE, and all cytokines in HUVEC. TNF-α+VD treatment decreased cytokines in explant and HUVEC supernatants. TRAIL was higher in EOPE versus NT, while TNF-α increased this receptor in NT versus control. In HUVEC, TNF-α increased TRAIL versus control, and TNF-α+VD decreased levels compared to only TNF-α stimulus.
