UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time, the handles on your doors will wear out and will require replacement. It is crucial to keep the same dimensions as the old handles when replacing them.

The three measurements you need to examine are the top screw position the lever and key hole dimensions. Use the size guide to help you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever/lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be put in on new or replacement doors. This style of door handle is available in a wide range of designs and finishes. This handle is available from several manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are suitable for doors with multi-point locks that require a strong design. The handles are inline and they utilize the same screws and spindle to fix them. They can be easily mounted on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be placed and angled to suit any user. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles, which helps to ensure the quality of the finish as well as the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever can be reduced to accommodate more locks. This is particularly useful for narrower door frames where the cylinder is located further back. A lever that is shorter is an excellent option for doors where the latch could be activated by the thumb turn inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles that are commonly found on doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle, or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are typically utilized on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a range of finishes & variations.

The handles have been tested to at least 200 000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes, including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.

All UPVC lever pads for handles include a spindle and screws, and can be fitted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm allow for a larger handle, which can be beneficial in replacing a defective or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of door handles sagging from their horizontal position when they are not in use.

When choosing the replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is important to match the PZ dimensions of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is often called the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the right handles.

When you have the right PZ size you will then have to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are in a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you require for your doors. These are usually round or square, with an internal lever and an external push pad.

The majority of UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they will return to their horizontal position when not in use, instead of hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This stops draughts from entering the home. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles are available in left and right handed models that allow them to be put on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are typically used on uPVC doors, but can be utilized on other types of doors. They operate with a key to unlock a cylinder case which will reveal pins that can be aligned to those in the lock body and permitting them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is crucial. It's dependent on the use that your doors and handles will receive. For example, external doors must be secured with an extra secure cylinder, while doors inside can be secured with the standard cylinder. In upvc door handle , some cylinders have extra features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump features.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured correctly to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, should there be one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. It is crucial to avoid having a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it susceptible to lock snapping attacks.

The design of many modern cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in an opposite direction. This can help stop the attack and keep your doors safe.

Certain cylinders are constructed to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common type of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is attacked by a tool that is specially designed to break off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is a lot faster and less difficult than opening the door with multipoint locks and leaves little evidence of a break-in which can impede an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette sits within the base of the door handle backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their original position after usage. Previously a lot of handles of this kind didn't have a spring built into them, and as a result, they are more likely to slide or drop when the locking mechanism is disengaged. This simple feature is one of the most effective ways to fix this and it is also an excellent way to stop your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in an open or closed position, as they aren't always simple to close manually.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a spring multipoint lock. They won't work with unsprung handles and you'll have to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please check the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are supplied in a single unit. They come with a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes are a fantastic value-for-money solution to the issue of door handles that are sliding. These spring cassettes are simple to install and will increase the life of your uPVC door.
