Probiotics are vital and beneficial organisms which offers the health benefits to the host organisms. The fungal probiotic field is one of the developing fields nowadays. Yeast has an enormous and diverse group of microorganisms that is attracting and expanding the attention from researchers and industries. Saccharomyces boulardii, the only patented strain belonging to yeast genera for the human use, has been broadly evaluated for its probiotic effect. Yeasts belonging to the genera Debaryomyces, Pichia, Yarrowia, Meyerozyma, Kluyveromyces etc.., have attained more interest because of their beneficial and probable probiotic features. These yeast probiotics produce VOCs (Volatile organic compounds), mycocins and antimicrobials which shows the antagonistic effect against pathogenic fungi and bacteria. Additionally, those yeasts have been recorded as good plant growth promoting microorganisms. Yeast has an important role in environmental applications such as bioremediation and removal of metals like chromium, mercury, lead etc., from waste water. Probiotic yeasts with their promising antimicrobial, antioxidant, anticancer properties, cholesterol assimilation and immunomodulatory effects can also be utilized as biotherapeutics. In this review article we have made an attempt to address important yeast probiotic attributes. The concept of intelligent health (iHealth) in mental healthcare integrates artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data analytics. This article is an attempt to outline ethical aspects linked to iHealth by focussing on three crucial elements that have been defined in the literature self-monitoring, ecological momentary assessment (EMA), and data mining. The material for the analysis was obtained by a database search. Studies and reviews providing outcome data for each of the three elements were analyzed. An ethical framing of the results was conducted that shows the chances and challenges of iHealth. The synergy between self-monitoring, EMA, and data mining might enable the prevention of mental illness, the prediction of its onset, the personalization of treatment, and the participation of patients in the treatment process. Challenges arise when it comes to the autonomy of users, privacy and data security of users, and potential bias.
The objective of the present study was to investigate the feasibility of guided internet cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) for anorexia nervosa.
We conducted a prospective single-arm study between January 2020 and March 2021. The intervention was built using videos, web programs, and chat tools. The intervention program was largely based on metacognitive training. Participants performed the self-help program once a week for 12 consecutive weeks. The primary outcome was the global Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q) score. Secondary outcomes included clinical symptoms of eating disorders, metacognitive function, body mass index, depression, and generalized anxiety. The main statistical analysis examined whether the EDE-Q score and other outcomes at the end of the intervention differed from the baseline.
Fourteen participants underwent the trial treatment, and 13 completed the intervention. There was a significant reduction in the global EDE-Q score from 3.48 (
=1.4) to 2.54 (
=1.5,
=0.02, Cohen's
=0.75) from baseline to post-intervention. Some EDE-Q subscales and body checking questionnaire scale demonstrated statistically significant improvements, with moderate to large effect sizes. Although there was no significant improvement in body mass index, metacognitive function, or depressive symptoms, there was a significant improvement in the severity of generalized anxiety (
=-4.0,
=0.01, Cohen's
=0.95). No adverse events were observed.
Our findings suggest that guided ICBT for anorexia nervosa is well accepted by female patients and practical as a telemedicine approach that improves symptoms. In the future, tightly controlled randomized controlled trials should be conducted for efficacy verification.

Many adolescents struggle to access appropriate mental health care due to structural or psychological barriers. Although traditional barriers to participation (e.g., location, cost) are hypothetically reduced or removed in internet interventions, low retention reduces the likelihood that adolescents will receive the intervention dosage intended to produce beneficial effects. It is therefore key to determine what factors are associated with dropout in digital mental health interventions with adolescents both within and beyond the context of research studies.
We compare completion rates from two projects evaluating self-guided, online single-session mental health interventions (SSIs) for adolescents. One was a randomized controlled trial (RCT) in which participants were paid for participation. The other was a program evaluation project in which participants were not paid for participation. We additionally compare SSI completion rates across various demographic groups and across baseline hopelessness levels.retention by minimizing the time required to complete an intervention.Email plays an essential role in organizational communication but can also serve as pertinent source of work interruption and an impediment to well-being. Scholars have proposed email batching, processing emails only at certain times of the day, as a strategy to mitigate the negative consequences of email at work. As empirical evidence is mixed and applications in natural organizational contexts are lacking, we used survey data collected during a quasi-experimental top-down intervention in a Dutch financial services organization to investigate for whom and under what circumstances email batching is effective for reducing email interruptions and ameliorating well-being. We found that participants in the intervention group encountered less email interruptions than participants in the control group. Moreover, email batching reduced emotional exhaustion captured right after the intervention ended, especially for workers dealing with high email volumes and workers believing that instantaneous response was not expected in their organization. The effects of email batching wore off after two weeks and no significant effects on work engagement were found. Nesuparib purchase We conclude that email batching should not be regarded as panacea for enhancing well-being and should only encouraged if it fits with workers' job tasks and organizational expectations regarding email response times more generally. This study aimed to establish the sensitivity of Muscovy duck semen to oxidative stress (OS) and the effect of Desferal, applied as an antioxidant. The effect of three prooxidant systems in presence and absence of Desferal were tested on the motility and kinetic parameters (determined using CASA system), as well as the level of lipid peroxidation (LPO) and glutathione (tGSH) of Muscovy semen. The semen was diluted (13 v/v) with four extenders (saline solution, IMV Canadyl, HIA-1, and AU) and stored at 4 °C for 6 h. The cooled semen was divided into aliquots (50 × 106 sperm cells/mL), which were incubated at 37 °C for 30 min with one of the following prooxidative agents ferrous sulfate (FeSO4, 0.1 mM), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2, 1 mM), and Fenton system (FeSO4(Fe2+), 0.1 mM + H2O2, 1 mM), in the presence or absence of Desferal (0.1 mM). The addition of FeSO4 + H2O2 or FeSO4 regardless of the used extender, as well as the addition of H2O2 to the diluted semen with saline solution significantly increased the levels of LPO (P less then 0.05). With the lowest prooxidant effect was H2O2. The application of Desferal reduced significantly (P less then 0.05) the LPO levels induced by FeSO4 + H2O2 or FeSO4 and in a weaker degree by H2O2. Among all prooxidants, FeSO4 + H2O2 decreased in the greatest extent the tGSH concentration in semen diluted with each used extenders in comparison to the relevant control. The addition of Desferal in semen diluted with HIA-1 extender and incubated with FeSO4, and H2O2, showed the best restoration of tGSH level, close to that of respectively controls. The studied prooxidants significantly reduced total, progressive, and kinetic sperm motility (P less then 0.05). Although the inclusion of Desferal reduced the sperm OS, it did not improve the impaired by OS sperm motility. The present study was performed to know the effects of chronic lead exposure on serum lipids, lipoproteins, and liver enzymes in a cohort study among of lead mine workers. We followed of 200 Iranian workers for 3- years (2018-2020), 100 of them with known occupational exposure to lead thorough their work in lead mine while the others 100 were with no such exposure. Blood lead level (BLL), serum lipids, lipoproteins, and liver enzymes of the exposure group for 3- years were measured and compared with those attained in the non-exposed workers. The BLL levels of the lead-mine workers were higher than with recommended level and the non-exposed group (24.15 and 6.35 µg/dL, respectively). The findings indicated a positive and significant relationship between BLL and lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate transaminase, alkaline phosphatase, alanine transaminase, and bilirubin levels (P less then 0.01). Also while we found a negative and significant correlation between BLL and triglyceride, total protein, albumin, and globulin levels (P less then 0.01). This report depicted that chronic lead exposure is a risk factor for hematological, liver, and cardiovascular diseases. Despite the fact that the level of liver function parameters was in the normal range, the results of 3- years follow-up show a significant relationship between BLL and alteration of biochemical parameters levels.Simultaneous fractures of the medial and lateral hallucal sesamoids from sports injuries are an extremely uncommon occurrences, with only one case reported in a hurdler. We describe an unusual injury in a basketball player resulting in simultaneous fractures of the medial and lateral hallucal sesamoid bones, a presentation, which we believe has not been reported before in the literature. With a growing interest in sports, the frequency of such injuries will undoubtedly rise. We highlight the clinical characteristics, biomechanical mechanism, role of complementary cross-sectional imaging in the diagnosis of hallucal sesamoid fractures. This case report emphasizes the need of high index of suspicion in reaching conclusive diagnosis of such rare injuries to prevent long term complications such as avascular necrosis or non-union and facilitate early return to sporting activities.Pleuropulmonary Synovial Sarcoma is a rare lung cancer with a prevalence of less then 1% among all lung cancers. Little is known about the clinical presentation, disease process, and appropriate treatment. Here we present a 9-year-old male who was taken to the operating room for pleurodesis and blebectomy due to a recurrent spontaneous pneumothorax. Final pathology showed a bleb with an associated mass positive for Pleuropulmonary synovial sarcoma.
