Despite the progress made in standardizing the use of PET/CT in lymphoma, challenges remain, particularly with respect to its limited positive predictive value, emphasizing the need for more specific molecular probes. This review highlights the most relevant applications of PET/CT in Hodgkin and B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, its strengths and limitations, as well as recent efforts at implementing PET/CT-based metrics as promising tools for precision medicine.

However, the cost and maintenance of high field NMR instruments prevent its widespread use by forensic chemists. The introduction of benchtop NMR spectrometers to the market operating at 40-80 MHz have a small footprint, are easy to use and cost much less than high field instruments, which makes them well suited to meet the needs of forensic chemists. These modern low field spectrometers are often capable of running multiple nuclei including 1 H, 13 C, 19 F and 31 P; 2D NMR experiments and advanced experiments such as solvent suppression and diffusion-ordered spectroscopy (DOSY) are possible. This has resulted in a number of publications in the area of forensic chemistry using benchtop NMR spectroscopy in the last 5 years that was previously missing from the literature. This mini review summarises this research including examples of benchtop NMR being used to identify and quantify compounds relevant to forensics and some advanced methods that may be used to overcome some of the limitations of these instruments for forensic analysis. Further validation and automation are likely required for widespread uptake of benchtop NMR in industry; however, it has been demonstrated as a useful complement to other analytical techniques commonplace of forensic laboratories.

Cranial radiation therapy (CRT) is associated with ototoxicity, which manifests as hearing loss and tinnitus. The authors sought to identify clinical determinants and genetic risk factors for ototoxicity among adult survivors of pediatric cancer treated with CRT.

A ratio adjustable power splitter (RAPS) circuit was recently proposed for add-on RF shimming and array-compressed parallel transmission. Here we propose a new RAPS circuit design based on off-the-shelf components for improved performance and manufacturability.

The original RAPS used a pair of home-built Wilkinson splitter and hybrid coupler connected by a pair of connectorized coaxial cables. Here we propose a new hybrid-pair RAPS (or HP-RAPS) circuit that replaces the home-built circuits with two commercially available hybrid couplers and replaces connectorized cables with interchangeable microstrip lines. We derive the relation between the desired splitting ratio and the required phase shifts for HP-RAPS and investigate how to generate arbitrary splitting ratios using paired meandering and straight lines. Several HP-RAPSs with different splitting ratios were fabricated and tested on the workbench and MRI experiments.

The splitting ratio of an HP-RAPS circuit has a tan or cot dependence on the meandering line's additional length compared to the straight line. The fabricated HP-RAPSs exhibit accurate splitting ratios as expected (<4% deviations) and generate transmit fields that well agree with predicted fields. They also demonstrated a low insertion loss of 0.33 dB, high output isolation of -26 dB, and acceptable impedance matching of -16 dB.

Recently, a new generation of wireless, compact, and relatively inexpensive heart rate monitors have become available. However, before these monitors can be used in scientific research and clinical practice, their feasibility, validity, and reproducibility characteristics have to be investigated. Therefore, we tested how two wireless heart rate monitors (i.e., the Ithlete photoplethysmography (PPG) finger sensor and the Cortrium C3 ECG monitor perform against an established wired reference method (the VU-AMS ambulatory ECG monitor). Monitors were tested on cross-instrument and test-retest reproducibility in a controlled laboratory setting, while feasibility was evaluated in protocolled ambulatory settings at home. We found that the Cortrium and the Ithlete monitors showed acceptable agreement with the VU-AMS reference in laboratory setting. In ambulatory settings, assessments were feasible with both wireless devices although more valid data were obtained with the Cortrium than with the Ithlete. link2 We conclude that both monitors have their merits under controlled laboratory settings where motion artefacts are minimized and stationarity of the ECG signal is optimized by design. These findings are promising for long-term ambulatory ECG measurements, although more research is needed to test whether the wireless devices' feasibility, validity, and reproducibility characteristics also hold in unprotocolled daily life settings with natural variations in posture and activities.

The humoral immune response following COVID-19 vaccination in nursing home residents is poorly known. A longitudinal study compared levels of IgG antibodies against the spike protein (S-RBD IgG) (S-RDB protein IgG) after one and two BNT162b2/Pfizer jabs in residents with and without prior COVID-19.

In 22 French nursing homes, COVID-19 was diagnosed with real-time reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for SARS-CoV-2. Blood S-RDB-protein IgG and nucleocapsid (N) IgG protein (N-protein IgG) were measured 21-24days after the first jab (1,004 residents) and 6weeks after the second (820 residents).

In 735 residents without prior COVID-19, 41.7% remained seronegative for S-RDB-protein IgG after the first jab vs. 2.1% of the 270 RT-PCR-positive residents (p<0.001). After the second jab, 3% of the 586 residents without prior COVID-19 remained seronegative. However, 26.5% had low S-RDB-protein IgG levels (50-1050UA/ml) vs. 6.4% of the 222 residents with prior COVID-19. Residents with an older infection (first wave), or with N-protein IgG at the time of vaccination, had the highest S-RDB-protein IgG levels. Residents with a prior COVID-19 infection had higher S-RDB-protein IgG levels after one jab than those without after two jabs.
