During the dynamic recovery, TSI, tHb, and O2Hb in water were higher than on land. A negative correlation was found between the change in TSI and lactate concentration (r = - 0.664). WHIIE produced greater muscle oxygenation during dynamic recovery. Muscle TSI% was inversely related to blood lactate concentration during exercise in water. The solid-state dewetting phenomenon in Ge layers on SiO2 is investigated as a function of layer thickness dGe (from 10 to 86 nm) and annealing temperature. The dewetting is initiated at about 580-700 °C, depending on dGe, through the appearance of surface undulation leading to the particle formation and the rupture of Ge layers by narrow channels or rounded holes in the layers with the thicknesses of 10-60 and 86 nm, respectively. The channel widths are significantly narrower than the distance between the particles that causes the formation of thinned Ge layer areas between particles at the middle dewetting stage. The thinned areas are then agglomerated into particles of smaller sizes, leading to the bimodal distributions of the Ge particles which are different in shape and size. The existence of a maximum in the particle pair correlation functions, along with the quadratic dependence of the corresponding particle spacing on dGe, may indicate the spinodal mechanism of the dewetting in the case of relatively thin Ge layers. Despite the fact that the particle shape, during the solid-state dewetting, is not thermodynamically equilibrium, the use of the Young's equation and contact angles allows us to estimate the particle/substrate interface energy.Rechargeable batteries are notoriously difficult to examine nondestructively, and the obscurity of many failure modes provides a strong motivation for developing efficient and detailed diagnostic techniques that can provide information during realistic operating conditions. In-situ NMR spectroscopy has become a powerful technique for the study of electrochemical processes, but has mostly been limited to laboratory cells. One significant challenge to applying this method to commercial cells has been that the radiofrequency, required for NMR excitation and detection, cannot easily penetrate the battery casing due to the skin depth. This complication has limited such studies to special research cell designs or to 'inside-out' measurement approaches. This article demonstrates that it is possible to use the battery cell as a resonator in a tuned circuit, thereby allowing signals to be excited inside the cell, and for them to subsequently be detected via the resonant circuit. Employing this approach, 7Li NMR signals from the electrolyte, as well as from intercalated and plated metallic lithium in a multilayer (rolled) commercial pouch cell battery were obtained. Therefore, it is anticipated that critical nondestructive device characterization can be performed with this technique in realistic and even commercial cell designs.Weights assigned to comorbidities in predicting mortality may vary based on the type of index disease and advances in the management of comorbidities. We aimed to develop a modified version of the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) using an Asian nationwide database (mCCI-A), enabling the precise prediction of mortality rates in this population. see more The main data source used in this study was the National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort (NHIS-NSC) obtained from the National Health Insurance database, which includes health insurance claims filed between January 1, 2002, and December 31, 2013, in Korea. Of the 1,025,340 individuals included in the NHIS-NSC, 570,716 patients who were hospitalized at least once were analyzed in this study. In total, 399,502 patients, accounting for 70% of the cohort, were assigned to the development cohort, and the remaining patients (n = 171,214) were assigned to the validation cohort. The mCCI-A scores were calculated by summing the weights assigned to individual comorbidities according to their relative prognostic significance determined by a multivariate Cox proportional hazard model. The modified index was validated in the same cohort. The Cox proportional hazard model provided reassigned severity weights for 17 comorbidities that significantly predicted mortality. Both the CCI and mCCI-A were correlated with mortality. However, compared with the CCI, the mCCI-A showed modest but significant increases in the c statistics. According to the analyses using continuous net reclassification improvement, the mCCI-A improved the net mortality risk reclassification by 44.0% (95% confidence intervals (CI), 41.6-46.5; p less then 0.001). The mCCI-A facilitates better risk stratification of mortality rates in Korean inpatients than the CCI, suggesting that the mCCI-A may be a preferable index for use in clinical practice and statistical analyses in epidemiological studies. The study was undertaken to identify the quantitative trait loci (QTLs) governing yield and its related traits using a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population derived from the popular rice hybrid, KRH-2 (IR58025A/KMR3R). A genetic map spanning 294.2 cM was constructed with 126 simple sequence repeats (SSR) loci uniformly distributed across the rice genome. QTL analysis using phenotyping and genotyping information identified a total of 22 QTLs. Of these, five major effect QTLs were identified for the following traits total grain yield/plant (qYLD3-1), panicle weight (qPW3-1), plant height (qPH12-1), flag leaf width (qFLW4-1) and panicle length (qPL3-1), explaining 20.23-22.76% of the phenotypic variance with LOD scores range of 6.5-10.59. Few genomic regions controlling several traits (QTL hotspot) were identified on chromosome 3 for total grain yield/plant (qYLD3-1) and panicle length (qPL3-1). Significant epistatic interactions were also observed for total grain yield per plant (YLD) and panicle length (PL). While most of these QTLs were observed to be co-localized with the previously reported QTL regions, a novel, major QTL associated with panicle length (qPL3-1) was also identified. SNP genotyping of selected high and low yielding RILs and their QTL mapping with 1,082 SNPs validated most of the QTLs identified through SSR genotyping. This facilitated the identification of novel major effect QTLs with much better resolution and precision. In-silico analysis of novel QTLs revealed the biological functions of the putative candidate gene (s) associated with selected traits. Most of the high-yielding RILs possessing the major yield related QTLs were identified to be complete restorers, indicating their possible utilization in development of superior rice hybrids.
