Patients with the longest time since diagnosis, in stage III, and in treatment with CT, especially those with the greatest number of cycles, had the worst scores in QoL. We found a positive association between depressive symptoms and anxiety with QoL in patients with BC.

Intimate partner violence is a global public health crisis and a human rights issue. The objectives of the study were to conduct secondary analysis of the most recent Liberia Demographic and Health Survey (2019-2020) to determine the descriptive and analytical epidemiology of intimate partner violence (IPV) and its correlates in 15-49 year old ever-married women.

Association of physical, emotional, sexual, and having experienced any type of IPV with 10 explanatory socio-demographic, attitudinal, and experiences were analyzed using simple and multiple logistic regression models.

55.29% of women reported having ever experienced some form of IPV perpetrated by their current or most recent husband/partner, with the most common type being physical violence. Having been slapped, insulted, made to feel bad, and physically forced into unwanted sex were the most common types of physical, emotional, and sexual IPV. The multivariable analysis showed statistically significant association with IPV for number of living children, women's acceptance of IPV, husband/partner's use of alcohol, and having witnessed parental physical IPV.

The prevalence of having experienced physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence in Liberia was much higher than the prevalence for the WHO Africa region of 33%, highlighting the need for better women empowerment and gender equality in Liberia.

The study was carried out on a sample representative of the Hungarian Roma (HR) population (n = 350) living in segregated colonies in Northeast Hungary in comparison with the Hungarian general (HG) population sample (n = 343) from the same region. Data were collected using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) long-form and physical activity was quantified as MET-min/week. Scores were calculated for walking, moderate and vigorous-intensity activities for each domain (work, transport, domestic and gardening, leisure) and as an overall total. The HR population-similarly to the HG-is characterized by moderate or high physical activity; however, this level is achieved by work and housework/gardening instead of leisure time activities, which is worryingly low among HR females, but its prevalence is significantly (p < 0.001) lower in both sexes than among the HG population in the vigorous activity category. HR men move (walk and cycle) significantly more during transport than HG men. Our results may direct the attention of decision-makers to improve the health of Roma by increasing leisure-time physical activity.According to the latest World Health Organization malaria report, 95% of 241 million global malaria cases and 96% of 627,000 malaria deaths that were recorded in 2020 occurred in Africa. Compared to 2019, 14 million more cases and 69,000 more malaria deaths were recorded, mainly because of disruptions to medical services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of asymptomatic malaria cases in children and adults living in the Dzanga Sangha region in the Central African Republic (CAR) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Rapid immunochromatographic assays for the qualitative detection of Plasmodium species (P. falciparum, P. vivax, P. ovale/P. malariae) circulating in whole blood samples were used. A screening was performed in the group of 515 patients, 162 seemingly healthy children (aged 1-15) and 353 adults, all inhabiting the villages in the Dzanga Sangha region (southwest CAR) between August and September 2021. As much as 51.2% of asymptomatic children and 12.2% of adults had a positive result in malaria rapid diagnostic tests (mRDTs). Our findings demonstrated a very high prevalence of asymptomatic malaria infections in the child population. Limited access to diagnostics, treatment and prevention of malaria during the global COVID-19 pandemic and less medical assistance from developed countries may be one of the factors contributing to the increase in the prevalence of disease in Africa.

The incidence of twin pregnancy is estimated at 1 per 80 single pregnancies. As the topic of sexual function among women with multiple pregnancy is insufficiently developed, we believe it is appropriate to raise this subject.

A prospective study was conducted on 100 women during subsequent trimesters of pregnancy.

From a group of 100 women, 54 women were primiparous, while 46 women had a history of previous delivery. The mean overall FSFI (female sexual function index) was found to be 24.3 ± 6.1. Mean FSFI was the highest in the first trimester at 25.6. The result decreased successively to 24.8 ± 7 and 22.6 ± 8.4 in the second and third trimesters, respectively. The patient's place of residence had a crucial impact on their FSFI score. The results were considerably higher for residents of small and medium towns or cities-24.4 ± 3.8 and 25.9 ± 4.9, respectively-while for those living in rural areas, the FSFI reached only 21.7 ± 5.4.

The present study shows that the FSFI decreased throughout twin pregnancy. The lowest observed FSFI occurred in the third trimester, while the highest FSFI occurred during the first trimester.

Pathogenic variants in moderate-risk BC genes (MBCG) differ from those in high-risk genes in terms of associated cancer risks, affected organs, and available preventive options. Little is known about how MBCG pathogenic variant carriers who have attended post-test genetic counseling perceive their situation, how they cope with their situation, and which support needs they might have. Problem-centered, guided, individual interviews were conducted with twelve women carrying pathogenic variants in MBCG. The interview analysis was based on Mayring's qualitative content analysis. The women were between 29 and 59 years old and carried pathogenic variants in the risk genes CHEK2 (n = 8), ATM (n = 1), or PALB2 (n = 3). Women reported a wide range of feelings, both positive (relief, calmness) and negative (overwhelm, fear, grief, guilt). All women applied strategies of emotion-focused coping to deal with this lifelong situation. Appraisal and evaluation of the affected mother's coping might influence the patient's own behavior and coping style. These results could be used during and after post-test genetic counseling to provide more needs-oriented counseling, and to help women in adjusting to and coping with being a pathogenic variant carrier.Cadmium (Cd) pollution in soil, particularly in peanut production, is a problem that has attracted global concern and needs solutions urgently. Selenium (Se) can alleviate Cd toxicity; however, the underlying mechanisms are not completely understood. Therefore, two varieties of peanut (Arachis hypogaea Linn.), "Huayu 23" and "Huayu 20", were chosen as the target crops for this study. A pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of two Se application methods combined with biochar on the accumulation of Cd and Se, and the best application method was identified. In addition, the role of Se in alleviating Cd toxicity in peanuts was studied. The results indicated that both Se and biochar decreased the Cd content in peanuts and alleviated Cd toxicity. However, the combined application of foliar Se and biochar significantly increased the peanut biomass by 73.44-132.41%, increased the grain yield of Huayu 23 by 0.60-1.09 fold, and Huayu 20 by 2.38-3.48 fold. Additionally, Cd content in peanut grains was decreased by 32.81-50.07%, and Se content was increased by 31.57-99.75 folds. Biochar can decrease the absorption of Cd from the soil, while Se can increase the accumulation of Cd in cell vacuoles by increasing glutathione and phytochelatin to decrease the movement of Cd into the grains. Therefore, our results indicate that the combined application of foliar Se and biochar can effectively promote the enrichment of Se in peanuts and suppress Cd toxicity.Despite strong evidence associating depression with poor physical function, the underlying mechanisms of this association remain unknown. This study aimed to ascertain whether different types of leisure activities mediate the effect of depression severity on physical function. This cross-sectional descriptive study included 353 Chinese nursing home residents (aged ≥ 60 years; 197 female) from nursing homes of five districts (Lixia, Tianqiao, Huaiyin, Shizhong, and Licheng) in Jinan, Shandong Province, China, from March to June 2018. Multiple-mediation analyses, including regression and bootstrap analyses, were conducted to evaluate the association of depressive symptoms' severity and active or passive leisure activities with physical function. Active, but not passive, leisure activities significantly mediated the effect of moderate/severe depressive symptoms on physical function compared to those without depressive symptoms. In contrast, there was no significant association between mild depressive symptoms and physical function. This study demonstrates that leisure activities affect the association between depressive symptoms' severity and physical function, and its protective role depends on the type of leisure activities. Interventions for physical function should be designed by focusing on active leisure activities among older adults, especially those with moderate/severe depressive symptoms, to delay physical function and improve overall well-being.Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the most frequently used agents to treat musculoskeletal disorders (principally by the elderly), thus raising the risk of adverse drug reactions (ADRs). This work aims to monitor NSAIDs safety profile in older people by using literature and pharmacovigilance data. Published clinical studies reporting the NSAIDs safety in elderly patients (age ≥ 65) were identified by a literature search and were then deeply analyzed. GSK126 In addition, suspected ADRs reports submitted to the Portuguese Pharmacovigilance System (PPS) involving patients aged ≥65 with at least one NSAID as suspected drug were explored in detail. Most studies concluded that the risk of gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and renal ADRs was significantly lower with cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)-selective NSAIDs use than with nonselective NSAIDs. The PPS data analysis showed that serious gastrointestinal ADRs occurred mostly in patients taking more than one NSAID and/or another concomitant drug that increases the incidence of these events, in the absence of gastroprotection.
