Anaplerotic amino acids, which are converted to TCA cycle metabolites, such as serine, glycine, tryptophan, lysine, leucine, histidine, glutamine, arginine, isoleucine, methionine, valine, and phenylalanine, also showed significantly elevated levels. Citric acid administration significantly increased the levels of initial TCA cycle metabolites in the plasma. This increase after administration of citric acid was shown to be opposite to the metabolic changes observed in patients with CFS. These results contribute novel insight into the fatigue alleviation mechanism of citric acid.Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are an alternative for storage with low cost, eco-friendly, and good performance for both process adsorption and desorption. Herein, a purification procedure of MWCNTs was successfully described and studied by using XRD, TEM, Raman spectroscopy and by means of N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms using the BET method. The H2 storage properties at room temperature of the purified carbon nanotubes exposed to gas under pressures between 0.39 and 13.33 kPa was investigated by using the quartz crystal microbalance technique. It was found that the H2 adsorption capacity is strongly dependent on the morphological and structural characteristics of the carbon nanotubes and their specific surface area. The best sample with specific surface area of 729.4 ± 3 m2 g-1 shows a maximum adsorption capacity of 3.46 wt% at 12.79 kPa of H2 exposure pressure. The adsorption kinetics (t95%) from the different purified MWCNTs was also investigated as a function of the H2 exposure pressure as well as the performance of these MWCNTs on the reversibility of the H2 loading/unloading process when underwent to successive cycles of gas exposure.ATP synthase subunit c (AtpE) is an enzyme that catalyzes the production of ATP from ADP in the presence of sodium or proton gradient from Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). This enzyme considered an essential target for drug design and shares the same pathway with the target of Isoniazid. Thus, this enzyme would serve as an alternative target of the Isoniazid. The three dimensional (3D) model structure of the AtpE was constructed based on the principle of homology modeling using the Modeller9.16. The developed model was subjected to energy minimization and refinement using molecular dynamic (MD) simulation. The minimized model structure was searched against Zinc and PubChem database to determine ligands that bind to the enzyme with minimum binding energy using RASPD and PyRx tool. A total of 4776 compounds capable of bindings to AtpE with minimum binding energy were selected. These compounds further screened for physicochemical properties (Lipinski rule of five). All the compounds that possessed the desirable property selected and used for molecular docking analysis. Selleck BLU-554 Five (5) compounds with minimum binding energies ranged between ─8.69, and ─8.44 kcal/mol, less than the free binding energy of ATP were selected. These compounds further screened for the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity (ADME and toxicity) properties. Of the five compounds, three (ZINC14732869, ZINC14742188, and ZINC12205447) fitted all the ADME and toxicity properties and subjected to MD simulation and Molecular Mechanics Generalized Born and Surface Area (MM-GBSA) analyses. The results indicated that the ligands formed relatively stable complexes and had free binding energies, less than the binding energy of the ATP. Therefore, these ligands considered as prospective inhibitors of MTB after successful experimental validation.Meteorological parameters, have been identified as an important factor involved in the transmission of vector-borne diseases. Mosquitoes are extremely sensitive to weather conditions. The aim of this study was investigate the correlation between meteorological parameters and the abundance of mosquitoes in Kashan County. Mosquitoes were collected using four different traps, including hand catch, animal baited bed net trap (usually a cow), human baited bed net trap and BG-Sentinel trap with CO2 from May to December 2019. A total number of mosquitoes collected were 1756 out of which 1621 (92.31%) were Culex, 22 (1.25%) Culiseta and 113 (6.44%) Anopheles in nine species. Most mosquitoes were collected by BG-Sentinel trap with CO2 (63.78%). Monthly distribution of the mosquitoes indicated different monthly peaks. Their high density were recorded in September and were low in December. The spearman's correlation of the mosquito abundance and the meteorological parameters shows that correlation of the number of total collected mosquitoes with relative humidity and precipitation (Rainfall) was weak negative, and there was week correlation with wind speed, and positive strong correlation with temperature. Data collected with various trap types and mosquito correlation with meteorological parameters in this study can be used for mosquito surveillance and control programs. However, meteorological parameters affect the abundance of mosquitoes, but their impact is complex and most of these variables are species specific.Frontier market banks fill key funding gaps in the markets they serve, resulting in increased evaluation (a positive) and earnings management (EM) (a negative). Examination of a large sample of banks in 22 frontier market countries from 2001 to 2018 reveals a downward trend in efficiency, indicating that loan quality issues persist despite increasing economic growth in the respective countries. Using stochastic frontier analysis to quantify efficiency and random effects and truncated regression to investigate the EM-efficiency relation, this study demonstrates that efficiency is negatively associated with EM. Furthermore, there was no clear relationship between bank size and efficiency, which counters economic efficiency theory and implies that frontier market banks absorb higher non-performing loan costs. The findings herein support prospect theory by demonstrating that managers engage in risk-seeking behaviour while making risk-averse decisions. Overall, the study's implications suggest that banks employ alternative loan provision practices to optimise resource allocation and, by extension, performance.

In critical situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses always face a lot of stress that can increase their turnover intention. Since a suitable safety climate in the workplace is considered an important factor in preventive management of occupational hazards and people's adaptation to stressful conditions, the present study aimed to determine Turnover intention among operating room nurses during the COVID-19 outbreak and its association with perceived safety climate.

In this descriptive correlational study, participants were 190 operating room nurses working at public hospitals in Mazandaran (Iran) who were selected by stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the Anticipated Turnover Scale and the Nurses' Safety Climate Questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS16.

The results of the linear regression analysis revealed that safety climate significantly reduced turnover intention among nurses in the COVID-19 pandemic (

< 0.001). An increase of one unit in the total score of safety climproper supportive environment for personnel, and providing appropriate protective equipment to prevent infection with COVID-19 seem absolutely vital to improving the safety climate in the operating room, thereby reducing turnover intention. The acute liver disease is involved in aberrant release of high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1). Glycyrrhizin (GL), a traditional Chinese medicine for liver disease, binds to HMGB1, thereby inhibits tissue injury. However the mode of action of GL for chronic liver disease remains unclear. We investigated the effects of glycyrrhizin (GL) and its derivatives on liver differentiation using human iPS cells by using a flow cytometric analysis. GL promoted hepatic differentiation at the hepatoblast formation stage. The GL derivatives, 3-O-mono-glucuronyl 18β-glycyrrhetinic acid (Mono) and 3-O-[glucosyl (1 → 2)-glucuronyl] 18β-glycyrrhetinic acid increased AFP+ cell counts and albumin+ cell counts. Glucuronate conjugation seemed to be a requirement for hepatic differentiation. Mono exhibited the most significant hepatic differentiation effect. We evaluated the effects of (±)-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy) propionic acid (DP), a T1R3 antagonist, and sucralose, a T1R3 agonist, on hepatic differentiation, and found that DP suppressed Mono-induced hepatic differentiation, while sucralose promoted hepatic differentiation. Thus, GL promoted hepatic differentiation via T1R3 signaling. In addition, Mono increased β-catenin+ cell count and decreased Hes5+ cell count suggesting the involvement of Wnt and Notch signaling in GL-induced hepatic differentiation. In conclusion, GL exerted a hepatic differentiation effect via sweet receptor (T1R3), canonical Wnt, and Notch signaling.

The rapid worldwide spread of COVID-19 motivated medical professionals to pursue and authenticate appropriate remedies and treatment protocols. This article aims to analyze the potential benefits of one treatment protocol developed by a group of care providers caring for severe COVID-19 patients.

The clinical findings of COVID-19 patients who were transferred to a specialized care hospital after unsuccessful treatment in previous institutions, were analyzed. The specialized care hospital used a treatment protocol including hydroxyurea, a medication commonly used for sickle cell treatment, to improve respiratory distress in the COVID-19 patients. None of the COVID-19 patients included in the analyzed data were diagnosed with sickle cell, and none had previously taken hydroxyurea for any other conditions.

In all presented cases, patients reverted to their baseline respiratory health after treatment with the hydroxyurea protocol. There was no significant difference in the correlation between COVID-19 and hydroxyurea. However, deaths were extremely low for those taking hydroxyurea.

Fatality numbers were extremely low for those taking hydroxyurea; death could be attributed to other underlying issues.

The inability to pass a suction catheter through the endotracheal tube with high peak and plateau pressure differences are classical features of an endotracheal tube obstruction. A case is described of endotracheal tube obstruction from a mucus plug that compounded severe respiratory acidosis and hypotension in a patient who simultaneously had abdominal compartment syndrome. The mucus plug was not identified until a bronchoscopic assessment of the airway was performed. Due to the absence of classical signs, the delayed identification of the obstructing mucus plug exacerbated diagnostic confusion. It resulted in various treatments being trialed whilst the patient continued to deteriorate from the evasive offending culprit. We suggest that earlier and more routine use of bronchoscopy should be employed in an intensive care unit, especially as a definitive way to rule out endotracheal obstruction.
