Additional research with a broader array of populations, particularly novice and female weightlifters, should be conducted to generalize the research results to nonathlete populations. Further work is also needed to characterize the specific effects of sole stiffness and heel elevation height on squatting mechanics.
Triple-negative breast cancers are known collectively to demonstrate a more aggressive clinical course and earlier recurrence than cancers of other histological subtypes. AZD8055 research buy However, the literature on rare triple-negative breast cancers and the association of histological type with survival and risk of metastasis is sparse.
To present the clinical and demographic characteristics, treatment patterns, and overall survival (OS) for histologically rare (<10% of breast cancers) triple-negative breast cancer types medullary carcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, and metaplastic breast carcinoma.
This cohort study was performed in the US using data reported by the National Cancer Database between 2010 and 2016. Confirmed cases of medullary carcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, and metaplastic breast cancer were analyzed. Univariable analyses and multivariable Cox regression models were performed. Data analysis was performed from April to May 2020.
The primary outcome was 5-year OS. Secondary outcomes included sNationally, over the course of 7 years, medullary carcinoma was most common and metaplastic carcinoma had the worst 5-year OS among the rare histological breast cancer subtypes analyzed. Factors associated with a poor prognosis for metaplastic carcinoma included advanced stage, lung metastasis, older age, and not receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Future research focusing on rare subtypes of breast cancer is desirable and could inform the optimal management of these relatively understudied carcinomas.
Time trends and population disparities in nutritional quality of foods from major US sources, including grocery stores, restaurants, schools, worksites, and other sources, are not well established.
To investigate patterns and trends in diet quality by food sources among US children and adults overall and in sociodemographic subgroups.
This serial, cross-sectional survey study included respondents from 8 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey cycles (2003-2018) with valid dietary recalls. Data were analyzed from April 16, 2020, to July 20, 2020.
Survey cycle, food source, and key sociodemographic subgroups.
Mean diet quality of foods (meals, snacks, and beverages) consumed per person, characterized by the American Heart Association diet score (range, 0-80, with higher scores indicating healthier diets), the Healthy Eating Index 2015 (range, 0-100, with higher scores indicating healthier diets), and their components. For the American Heart Association diet score, poor diet was defined as lesity.
By 2017-2018, foods consumed at schools improved significantly and provided the best mean diet quality of major US food sources, without population disparities. Additional improvements are needed from all major US food sources, with particular attention on equity.
Despite cancer being a leading cause of death worldwide, scant research has been carried out on the validity of the cancer transition theory, the idea that as nations develop, they move from a situation where infectious-related cancers are prominent to one where noninfectious-related cancers dominate.
To examine whether cancer transitions exist in the US, select European countries, and Japan.
In this cross-sectional study, annual cause-of-death data from the 1950s to 2018 for the US, England and Wales, France, Sweden, Norway, and Japan were extracted from the Human Mortality Database and the World Health Organization (WHO). Statistical analysis was performed from April 2020 to February 2021.
Age-standardized death rates for all ages and both sexes combined were estimated for cancers of the stomach, cervix, liver, lung, pancreas, esophagus, colorectum, breast, and prostate.
The results of the analysis show that for all countries in this study except for Japan, mortality from infectious-related cancer study, the findings suggest that cancer mortality patterns parallel the epidemiological transition, which states that as nations develop, they move from a stage where infectious diseases are prominent to one where noninfectious diseases dominate. An implication is that the epidemiological transition theory as originally formulated continues to be relevant, despite some researchers arguing that there should be additional stages beyond the original 3.

Reported increases in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) diagnoses are accompanied by growing debate about the underlying factors. Although overdiagnosis is often suggested, no comprehensive evaluation of evidence for or against overdiagnosis has ever been undertaken and is urgently needed to enable evidence-based, patient-centered diagnosis and treatment of ADHD in contemporary health services.
To systematically identify, appraise, and synthesize the evidence on overdiagnosis of ADHD in children and adolescents using a published 5-question framework for detecting overdiagnosis in noncancer conditions.
This systematic scoping review adhered to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) Extension for Scoping Reviews and Joanna Briggs Methodology, including the PRISMA-ScR Checklist. MEDLINE, Embase, PsychINFO, and the Cochrane Library databases were searched for studies published in English between January 1, 1979, and August 21, 2020.
