keratitis. It is estimated that 5.4 million Americans have some form of dementia and these numbers are expected to rise in the coming decades, leading to an unprecedented demand for memory care housing and services. At the same time, infectious disease outbreaks like the COVID-19 pandemic have raised great concerns for the future of care settings for people living with dementia. In searching for innovative options to create more autonomy and better quality of life in dementia care settings, while at the same time improving infectious disease control, repurposing existing structures, in particular vacant urban malls, may be one option for the large sites needed for the European model of dementia villages. This editorial paper makes the case for the Dementia Friendly City Center model for centralized dementia programs, medical services and housing. By working across multiple disciplines, this research team has simultaneously addressed numerous issues, including community revitalization, building sustainability, and the strengthening of infectious disease control in care sites which are inclusive, progressive and convergent with the needs of an aging population.Since the initiation of national healthcare reform in 2009, China's hospital market has witnessed significant change. To provide a brief description about its evolving process, China Health Statistical Yearbook data and Sichuan administrative data from 2009 to 2017 were used in this article. An overall upward trend of hospital delivery capacity was found in this study, which increased from 3.12 million beds and 1.09 million doctors in 2009 to 6.12 million and 1.80 million in 2017, respectively, while the primary healthcare institutions presented fairly slow development pace. Growing proportion of medical resources and patients gathered in hospitals, especially tertiary hospitals. While private hospitals demonstrated an increasingly important role in hospital market with growing share of capacity and service, their average capacity, especially the human resource, was found to be much lower than that of public hospitals and the gaps are still widening. The competition among hospitals grouped by homogeneous ownership types has predominated the increasingly intensified hospital market competition in China. In order to adapt to the raising demand of health care in China, it is highly recommended that strategies forged at governmental levels be focused on primary care promotion, guiding the development of private hospitals as well as on promoting orderly competition in the hospital market.Long-term control of the COVID-19 pandemic hinges in part on the development and uptake of a preventive vaccine. In addition to a segment of population that refuses vaccines, the novelty of the disease and concerns over safety and efficacy of the vaccine have a sizable proportion of the U.S. indicating reluctance to getting vaccinated against COVID-19. Among various efforts to address vaccine hesitancy and foster vaccine confidence, evidence-based communication strategies are critical. There are opportunities to consider the role of emotion in communication efforts. In this commentary, we highlight several ways negative as well as positive emotions may be considered and leveraged. Examples include attending to negative emotions such as fear and anxiety, raising awareness of emotional manipulations by anti-vaccine disinformation efforts, and activating positive emotions such as altruism and hope as part of vaccine education endeavors.Research shows child welfare cases involving caregiver domestic violence (DV) continue to produce punitive consequences for non-abusive adult victims. This occurs despite the adoption of a supportive policy framework that emphasizes perpetrator responsibility for DV-related harm to children. Risk assessment procedures have been implicated in punitive outcomes, but we know little about how they shape child welfare workers' decision-making practice. Focusing on a state with a supportive policy framework, this paper uses grounded theory to examine how policy contradictions, procedural directives around risk assessment, and informal interventions produce punitive consequences for adult victims of DV and unmitigated risk to children. Data include state policy and procedural documents and interviews with child welfare workers describing decision-making in their most recent completed case and most recent case involving DV. Findings point to the need for active alignment of policies and procedures, greater integration of knowledge across practice areas, renewed commitments to differential response, and greater inclusion of DV specialists in child welfare settings.A conjunctival inclusion cyst is a colorless or whitish translucent cystic lesion, frequently occurring on the conjunctiva. Here, we describe a patient with a giant conjunctival cyst, mainly existing in the orbit, which clinically resembled lymphatic malformation. A 34-year-old male complained of a subconjunctival mass on his left infero-medial side persisting since childhood. It had gradually enlarged over the 3 months before the initial visit. He had no history of trauma, surgery, or conjunctivitis. The mass was dark red, with superficial dilated blood vessels. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a well-circumscribed mass in the inferior orbit, measuring 12 × 25 mm, which had an internal septum. The lesion was completely resected without rupture of the mass through a transcutaneous approach. Histopathologically, the mass was a cyst composed of columnar epithelium with goblet cells and lymphoid follicles adjacent to the wall. In conclusion, a giant orbital conjunctival cyst and a lymphatic malformation should be differentiated at diagnosis.

One mechanism by which acute psychosocial stress effects health-related cognitions and behaviors is through changes in the level of mental abstraction when processing information. However, it is unclear whether levels of mental abstraction would be higher or lower after an acute psychosocial stressor.

This research examined acute psychosocial stress's impact on levels of mental abstraction.

Randomized between-subjects experimental design.

A diverse sample of 164 undergraduate students aged 18-24 years old were randomly assigned to an acute psychosocial stressor or non-stressful control condition. Blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR), and negative affect were monitored throughout the study and mental abstraction was measured at the end of each condition.

Mental abstraction was statistically significantly higher (i.e., more abstract) after the stress condition than after the control condition (

 = 0.005,

= 0.44). GSK429286A in vitro This association was partially explained by negative affect (

= 0.017), but not BP or HR (

 > 0.
