An obligately anaerobic, Gram-stain-positive, non-motile, non-spore-forming and rod-shaped strain AGMB00832T was isolated from swine faeces. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene, together with the housekeeping genes, gyrB and rpoD, revealed that strain AGMB00832T belonged to the genus Faecalicatena and was most closely related to Faecalicatena orotica KCTC 15331T. In biochemical analysis, strain AGMB00832T was shown to be negative for catalase, oxidase and urease. Furthermore, the isolate was positive for β-glucosidase, β-glucuronidase, glutamic acid decarboxylase, proline arylamidase, acid phosphatase and naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase. The major cellular fatty acids (> 10%) of the isolate were C140, C160 and C181ω11t DMA. Based on the whole genome sequence analysis, the DNA G + C content of strain AGMB00832T was 44.2 mol%, and the genome size and numbers of rRNA and tRNA genes were 5,175,159 bp, 11 and 53, respectively. The average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain AGMB00832T and related strains were ≤ 77.4 and 22.5%, respectively. Furthermore, the genome analysis revealed the presence of genes for alkaline shock protein 23 and cation/proton antiporters, which may facilitate growth of strain AGMB00832T in alkaline culture condition. On the basis of polyphasic taxonomic approach, strain AGMB00832T represents a novel species within the genus Faecalicatena, for which the name Faecalicatena faecalis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is AGMB00832T (= KCTC 15946T = NBRC 114613T).Incidence of various dreadful microbial infections and the development of antibiotic resistance by infection causative microbes are the main reasons for reducing aquaculture productivity. Hence, there is an immense need for the discovery of alternative and efficient treatment for quick recovery of diseased fishes. In the present study, Suaeda maritima leaf extracts (hexane, diethyl ether, ethanol, and water) were screened for in vitro and in vivo antibacterial and antioxidant activities. Out of all the four extracts, ethanolic extract showed highest antibacterial activity against S. aureus (4.9 ± 1.3 mm), B. subtilis (1.6 ± 0.3 mm), K. pneumoniae (4.2 ± 1.8 mm), and P. aeruginosa (4.1 ± 1.2 mm). Similarly, antioxidant activity was also higher for ethanolic extract (500 µg/mL) based on DPPH radical scavenging ability (71.6 ± 1.4%) and reducing potential (149 μg/mL) assays. Besides, in vivo studies were conducted on Catla catla fingerlings infected with P. aeruginosa under laboratory conditions. The fingerlings were segregated into 5 groups, among which group 4 and 5 were treated with crude and purified extracts. Both the extracts were efficient in treating infected fingerlings and recorded 100% survival rate which is even better than group-3 treated with a synthetic antibiotic (77%). ACE2 is expressed in the oral mucosa and can therefore constitute an essential route for entry of SARS-CoV-2 into hosts through the tongue and lung epithelial cells. At present, no effective treatments for SARS-CoV-2 are yet in place. Blocking entry of the virus by inhibiting ACE2 is more advantageous than inhibiting the subsequent stages of the SARS-CoV-2 life cycle. Based on current published evidence, we have summarized the different in silico based studies and repurposing of anti-viral drugs to target ACE2, SARS-CoV-2 S-Protein ACE2 and SARS-CoV-2 S-RBD ACE2. This review will be useful to researchers looking to effectively recognize and deal with SARS-CoV-2, and in the development of repurposed ACE2 inhibitors against COVID-19.

This study assessed sediment quality and its heavy metal levels. Several indices and human health risks were determined to assess the potential ecological risk of the Nile River sediment. On the basis of the index results, Cd registered the highest pollution ranking, whereas Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, and Ni had the lowest effect. In another context, southern sites represented the lowest ecological risk relative to the central and northern sectors. Lack of osteoporosis awareness forms a critical barrier to osteoporosis care and has been linked with increased institutionalization, healthcare expenditures, and decreased quality of life. This study aims to identify factors associated with osteoporosis awareness and knowledge among female Singaporeans.

A cross-sectional study was conducted among adult female patients (aged 40 to 90years old) who were admitted into Outram Community Hospital from April to October 2020. Osteoporosis awareness and knowledge were assessed using interviewer-administered Osteoporosis Prevention and Awareness Tool (OPAAT). High knowledge was defined as a OPAAT score ≥ 24. Multivariate logistical regression analyses were used to identify predictors of low OPAAT scores.

The preantral follicles were checked as dead, damage, or live follicles in vivo and in vitro by using trypan blue then bisbenzimide and propidium iodine. Transcriptomes of small (100-120 μm) and large (200-220 μm) preantral follicles of cattle and buffalo were evaluated in vivo and in vitro by microarray and RT-PCR. Healthy preantral follicles were selected based on staining results, and then RNA was extracted from them.

The viability percentage of preantral follicles in cattle was higher (26.7% and 20%) than buffalo (10%) in vivo and in vitro, respectively. According to the small size. However, anti-apoptotic genes were upregulated in large cattle preantral follicle and downregulated in large buffalo preantral follicle.

Apoptotic genes were upregulated in the large preantral follicle compared with the small preantral follicles. During the COVID-19 pandemic, health care systems are under extreme pressure. This study analyzed health care resource use (HCRU) and costs in patients admitted to the hospital for COVID-19 and aimed to estimate the one-year direct medical cost of the disease in Turkey.

This retrospective cohort study was conducted between March and July 2020 in a tertiary hospital (n = 1056) in Istanbul. Patient demographics, clinical and treatment characteristics at admission, comorbidities, disease severity, and costs from a payer perspective were evaluated using the microcosting method.
