by study heterogeneity, analysis of thirty U.S. studies revealed naloxone was available without a prescription in less than two-thirds of community pharmacies. Availability varied significantly by study and pharmacy type.

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) treatments reduce the risk of contracting human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). However, despite proven effectiveness, PrEP use remains low among populations at risk of contracting HIV. Successful PrEP uptake includes developing partnerships with health care providers to implement PrEP-related tools and interventions. Pharmacists are uniquely positioned health professionals who can provide PrEP services in the community, such as pharmacy-led PrEP clinics, to increase uptake, adherence, and retention. Unfortunately, prior evidence shows that not all pharmacists have enough knowledge about PrEP to provide effective care, resulting in low confidence and discomfort in PrEP-related patient consultations.

This study aimed to assess Wisconsin community pharmacists' intentions of utilizing an infographic on PrEP for HIV prevention to educate themselves on PrEP and in consultations with patients starting PrEP.

An adaptative survey, using the Theory of Planned Behavior, was conductedic to better understand its influence in improving pharmacy care among HIV-negative individuals.

The results from this study demonstrate Wisconsin community pharmacists' intentions of using an infographic on PrEP for HIV prevention in practice while measuring their attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. Future research is warranted to explore adapting and using the infographic to better understand its influence in improving pharmacy care among HIV-negative individuals.

To assess hippocampal function during stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) investigations through the study of the medial temporal lobe event-related potential (ERP) MTL-P300.

We recorded the MTL-P300 during a visual oddball task, using hippocampal electrodes implanted for SEEG in 71 patients, in a preoperative epilepsy investigation. The presence of an MTL-P300 and its amplitude were correlated with hippocampal involvement during seizures and memory function.

Analysis using ROC curves revealed that an MTL-P300 amplitude below -46 µV, has a specificity of 93.3% in detecting the epileptogenic zone, and absence of the MTL-P300 in the left hippocampus of patients with typical language organization was associated with marked alteration of verbal memory scores. There was a significant correlation between performance in non-verbal memory tests and the amplitude of the MTL-P300 in the right hippocampus of patients with left hemispheric seizures (immediate visual recall r=0.67, p=0.005; delayed visual recall r=0.56, p=0.025). Using a linear regression, we confirmed that the absence of the MTL-P300 in the left hippocampus, the involvement of the left hippocampus during seizures, and the duration of epilepsy were predictors of verbal memory deficits.

Analysis of the MTL-P300 during SEEG recording provides relevant information for the analysis of hippocampal functionality and can help to localize the epileptogenic zone.

To create a new approach of resecting medial gastrocnemius for calf reduction and to meet the increasing requirement of the beauty standard of calf sliming in Asian.

Twenty patients with 39 calves underwent gastrocnemius resection for calf reduction. Under general anesthesia, a 5cm incision, along the popliteal crease, was made down to the sub-popliteal deep fascia on a prone position. The medial belly of the gastrocnemius muscle was then dissected, in a blunt way, from the popliteal fossa down to the Achilles tendon around the muscular belly when its neurovascular bundle was ligated and cut off. Thereafter, the medial gastrocnemius was pulled out of the wound and incised transversely off at the level of the popliteal fossa while the attachment to the Achilles was transected with a long rectangular scissors. The incisional wound was finally closed in layers.

Twenty patients with 39 calves were treated using the above-mentioned technique without severe complications. The harvested gastrocnemius muscle weighed 192.1g in mean (from 104.5g to 307.6g). The calf circumference was significantly decreased from 36.3cm in mean to 32.8cm in mean before and after the operation (p <0.05).

The above-mentioned technique may be a safer, simpler, and more efficient method for calf reduction with less morbidity of the potential complications, in comparison with the traditional techniques.

There remains a lack of standards in facial rejuvenation procedures, which may be attributed to the subjective measures used to determine surgical outcomes and success. The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of machine learning technology, i.e. this website FaceReader™, to objectively measure facial rejuvenation surgery outcomes.

Using a retrospective study design, we enrolled a cohort of patients undergoing high SMAS facelift with/without additional procedures during a one-year interval. The predictor variable was surgery done (pre- vs. postoperative). The outcome variables were 28 facial action units, happiness, and sadness emotions, detected by FaceReader™. Appropriate statistics were calculated at α=0.05.

The sample comprised of 15 patients (11 females, 15 Caucasians, mean age of 55.7 years). There was an average increase in detected happy emotion from 1.03% to 13.17% (p>0.01).Conversely, the average angry emotion detected decreased from 14.66% to 0.63% (p<0.05). There were no other distinct action unit patterns across the operation.

Despite a small sample size, the results of this study suggest that FaceReader™ can be used as an objective outcome assessment tool in patients undergoing high SMAS facelift with/without its adjuncts.

The overnight change in hospital practice and service delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic raises the question whether undergraduate radiography students received an adequate clinical experience. Many students had their clinical placements cancelled, deferred or replaced with simulated learning. As a way of dealing with the pandemic some hospitals were dedicated to COVID-19 patients only resulting in many elective procedures being cancelled. Many patients also chose to stay away from the hospital out of fear of infection or the desire to reduce the burden on staff. This resulted in a limited range of examinations and clinical experience for those students who were able to complete their clinical placement.

This study aims to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on the education and training of radiography students internationally in the United Kingdom Devolved Nations (UKDN) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to determine any possible impact on their future careers.

Ethical permission was sought and grals, confidence and resilience in coping with uncertainties and challenges. Undergraduate students should not be excluded from the clinical department during subsequent waves of COVID-19 or future pandemics to ensure continued workforce planning is possible.

HEIs should find solutions to compensate students for the loss of practical experience and skills due to the decreased number of patients in some areas of radiography practice. Providing academic and career counselling can assist students achieve their professional objectives and decrease the risk of attrition and problems upon qualification.

To assess the impact of corneal collagen cross-linking on self-reported vision-related quality of life (VR-QoL) in keratoconus patients by means of the Keratoconus Outcomes Research Questionnaire (KORQ), a new disease-specific patient reported outcomes measures (PROMs) tool.

Patients with progressive keratoconus undergoing corneal collagen cross-linking were consecutively enrolled. Patients completed the KORQ before and after the treatment, at 1, 3 and 6months. Data were collected regarding the visual acuity and the topographic, aberrometric and pachymetric parameters of both eyes. Patients were also asked to quantify their eye rubbing behavior on a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) from 0 to 10, before and 6months after treatment. The KORQ scores were associated with the visual acuity, topographic, aberrometric and pachymetric data by means of the Spearman correlation coefficient.

The Activity Limitation (AL) subscale score was higher after surgery. Preoperatively, negative correlations were observed betweeny halting the worsening of these parameters, may bear a beneficial effect on VR-QoL.

These results suggest that the corneal cross-linking treatment is effective both in improving the subjective perception of the disease by the patient and in stabilizing the objective indicators of disease progression. Keratometric, aberrometric and visual acuity values showed a significant impact on self-reported VR-QoL. Corneal cross-linking, by halting the worsening of these parameters, may bear a beneficial effect on VR-QoL.

This study aimed to compare the vision-related quality of life (VRQoL) between Defocus Incorporated Soft Contact (DISC) lenses and single-vision spectacles in Chinese children, in order to evaluate their visual performance and subjective acceptance of this bifocal designed contact lenses treatment.

Chinese participants aged 7 to 12years, with myopia of -4.00 to -0.75 D, astigmatism<1.50 D, and monocular best-corrected visual acuity 0.0 or better, were recruited in the study. All participants had been wearing DISC lenses, or single-vision spectacles, for the last 6 to 18months and were requested to complete the routine ocular examination and Chinese version of the Pediatric Refractive Error Profile (PREP 2) questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 7 scales vision, symptoms, appearance, activities, handling, peer perception, and overall score. According to their habitual correction modalities, fifty-four children were allocated to the DISC group and 56 to the single-vision spectacles group. A generaese children compared with single-vision spectacles for most of the survey scales, especially in the areas of appearance, peer perception, and activities. The benefits provided by DISC lenses contribute to greater satisfaction than single-vision spectacles for myopic children.Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous hematopoietic neoplasm which results in clonal proliferation of abnormally differentiated hematopoietic cells. In this review, mechanisms contributing to myeloid leukemogenesis are summarized, highlighting aberrations of epigenetics, transcription factors, signal transduction, cell cycling, and the bone marrow microenvironment. The mechanisms contributing to AML are detailed to spotlight recent findings that convey clinical impact. The applications of current and prospective therapeutic targets are accentuated in addition to reviews of treatment paradigms stratified for each characteristic molecular lesion - with a focus on exploring novel treatment approaches and combinations to improve outcomes in AML.
