Thermodynamic behaviors and interactions between bubble pairs are important to better understand the cavitation phenomena. In this study, a compressible two-phase model, accounting for thermal effects to investigate the thermodynamic behaviors and interactions between bubble pairs, is developed in OpenFOAM. The volume of fluid (VOF) method is adopted to capture the interface. Validations are performed by comparing the simulation results of a single bubble and bubble pairs with corresponding experimental data. The dynamical behaviors of bubble pairs and their thermodynamic effect at different relative distances γ are investigated and discussed, which help reveal the bubble cloud dynamics. The quantitative analysis of γ effects on the maximum temperature during bubble collapse is performed with three distinct stages identified. For a single bubble collapsing near the rigid surface, the thermodynamic characteristics at different relative distances are similar to that of the bubble pairs, but the maximum temperature is higher since the single bubble can collapse to a smaller volume.Luminescence and chemiluminescence have been experimentally investigated in hydrodynamic cavitating flows. By using dedicated microdevices inserted inside a light tight box, photons counting has been made possible. Luminescence has been investigated with deionized water as the working fluid; chemiluminescence has resulted from cavitating alkaline luminol solutions, and has been correlated to hydroxyl radicals formation. For the first time, luminescent and chemiluminescent phenomena have been considered together on the same devices submitted to similar cavitating flow regimes. Degassed solutions enhance the luminescence and also the hydroxyl radical yield. Due to the small sizes of the channels, the lifetimes of the collapsing bubbles correspond to pseudo frequencies matching the range of optimal frequencies used in sonochemistry. New perspectives for the study of hydrodynamic cavitation as an advanced oxidation process are suggested.

Rectal duplication cyst is extremely rare. Most of the cases diagnosed before two years old. Adult onset rectal duplication cyst usually contains malignant formation. Then complete tumor resection is needed for the disease to prevent malignant change.

A 52-year-old man was referred to our hospital due to bloody stool. Colonoscopy showed 20-mm of sub-mucosal tumor at low rectum. Biopsy revealed no specific findings. Abdominal computed tomography showed that a 20-mm low density mass at posterior of lower rectum. As the existence of malignant lesion was unassailable, we planned two team, trans abdominal and trans-anal, laparoscopic low anterior resection. Perioperative course was good. Macroscopically, rectum had a submucosal cystic mass fulfilled mucinous content. Histologically, cyst wall was covered with heterotopic ciliated epithelium and composed of smooth muscle.

Trans-anal total mesorectal excision (ta-TME) was introduced as beneficial approach for rectal malignancies.

Complete resection was possible by TME was necessary for patients with adult rectal duplication cyst, and synchronous trans-abdominal and trans-anal approach is a promising option.

Three electronic databases were searched for studies evaluating sensitivity and specificity of the three tools against the apnea-hypopnea index measured using overnight in-laboratory or in-home polysomnography in children and adolescents from inception until January 11, 2020. A random-effects bivariate model was used to estimate the summary sensitivity and specificity of the tools. We identified 39 studies involving 6131 clinical and community children (aged 2.9-16.7 y). The PSQ exhibited the highest sensitivity (74%) for detecting symptoms of mild pediatric OSAS. The PSQ and PO had comparable sensitivity in screening moderate and severe pediatric OSAS (0.82 and 0.89 vs 0.83 and 0.83, respectively). PO yielded superior specificity in detecting mild, moderate, and severe pediatric OSAS (86%, 75%, and 83%, respectively) than did the PSQ and OSA-18 (all p less then 0.05). Age, percentage of girls, index test criteria, methodology quality, and sample size significantly moderated sensitivity and specificity. For early detection of pediatric OSAS, the combined use of PSQ and PO is recommended when polysomnography is not available. Physiological strategies against high-salinity stress include generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), induction of stress-related genes expression, accumulation of abscisic acid (ABA) and up-regulation of antiporters. PFI-3 ROS are metabolism by-products and involved in signal transduction pathway. Constitutive expression of plant ferrodoxin-like protein (PFLP) gene enhances pathogen-resistance activities and root-hair growth through promoting ROS generation. However, the function of PFLP in abiotic stress responses is unclear. In this study, PFLP-1 and PFLP-2-transgenic rice plants were generated to elucidate the role of PFLP under salinity stress. PFLP overexpression significantly increased salt tolerance in PFLP-transgenic rice plants compared with non-transgenic plants (Oryza sativa japonica cv. Tainung 67, designated as TNG67). In high-salinity conditions, PFLP-transgenic plants exhibited earlier ROS production, higher antioxidant enzyme activities, higher ABA accumulation, up-regulated expression of stress-related genes (OsRBOHa, Cu/Zn SOD, OsAPX, OsNCED2, OsSOS1, OsCIPK24, OsCBL4, and OsNHX2), and leaf sodium ion content was lower compared with TNG67 plant. In addition, transgenic lines maintained electron transport rates and contained lower malondialdhyde (MDA) content than TNG67 plant did under salt-stress conditions. Overall results indicated salinity tolerance was improved by PFLP overexpression in transgenic rice plant. The PFLP gene is a potential candidate for improving salinity tolerance for valuable agricultural crops.
