001). Interestingly, favorable δMIRs tend to be seen in countries with relatively low health care expenditure and HDI (all p less then 0.001). In conclusion, favorable testicular cancer MIRs are associated with high HDI and health care expenditure, but the improvement in MIR between 2012 and 2018 (δMIR) is negatively correlated with HDI and health care expenditure.Dry eye disease (DED) is a multifactorial condition caused by tear deficiency and accompanied by ocular surface damage. Recent data support a key role of oxidative and inflammatory processes in the pathogenesis of DED. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is widely used in artificial tears to treat DED by improving ocular hydration and reducing surface friction. Crocin (Cr), the main constituent of saffron, is a renowned compound that exhibits potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. The present study was undertaken to assess the viscosity and muco-adhesiveness of a photoactivated formulation with crosslinked HA (cHA), Cr, and liposomes (cHA-Cr-L). Our aim was also to evaluate whether cHA-Cr-L may exert cytoprotective effects against oxidative and inflammatory processes in human corneal epithelial cells (HCECs). Viscosity was measured using a rotational rheometer, and then the muco-adhesiveness was evaluated. Under hyperosmolarity (450 mOsm), the HCECs were treated with cHA-Cr-L. Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα) were quantified by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). The levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) were measured using the DCF assay. The combined action of cHA-Cr-L produced a higher viscosity and muco-adhesiveness compared to the control. see more The anti-inflammatory effect of cHA-Cr-L was achieved through a significant reduction of IL-1β and TNFα (p less then 0.001). The results also showed that cHA-Cr-L reduces ROS production under conditions of hyperosmolarity (p less then 0.001). We conclude that cHA-Cr-L has potential as a therapeutic agent in DED, which should be further investigated.Mg-containing high-silicon aluminum alloy is a heat-treatable aluminum alloy that is now widely used in the aerospace and automotive industries because of its high specific strength, high wear resistance and corrosion resistance, low thermal expansion coefficient, and low cost. More attention has been paid to optimizing the microstructure to increase the performance of this type of aluminum alloy. In the present work, the solidification processes of Mg-free and Mg-containing (0.33-1.32%) Al-8Si alloys were analyzed by the experimental results combined with the thermodynamic calculation. The results showed that α-Al, Si, and Al5FeSi were in the Mg-free Al-8Si alloy ingots, while the Al5FeSi phases in alloys with Mg additions were transformed into π phases (Al8Mg3FeSi6) by the reaction L+Al5FeSi→α-Al+Si+Al8Mg3FeSi6. There was a binary eutectic reaction of L→α-Al+Al5FeSi when the Mg content exceeded 0.51% and the Fe content was higher than 0.17%. With the increase of Mg content, the volume of Mg2Si was gradually increased while the divorced eutectic phenomenon of the quaternary eutectic structure (α-Al+Si+Mg2Si+Al8Mg3FeSi6) was weakened and the eutectic structure was significantly refined. The access of people with disabilities to digital solutions promotes their inclusion and participation in many aspects of life. Computer games based on hearing or haptic devices have been gaining popularity among persons with visual impairment (VI), and players tend to display improved spatial and abstract reasoning skills, as well as better social interaction and self-confidence, after playing these games. However, a recent survey suggested that excessive gaming could represent a public health concern as a harmful form of behavior in young people associated with risk factors of negative psychosomatic and physical complaints. Young persons with VI are regular users of various technologies, but little is still known about their media patterns. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of the variables associated with gaming for adolescents with VI. The participants were 490 students, aged 13-24 years, from special schools for students with VI. Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire. The current survey indicated a tendency towards excessive gaming in a significant proportion of young persons with VI. Sociodemographic variables are important in predicting gaming prevalence or screen time, but further research focused on establishing possible mediators (such as parental attitudes towards media) are necessary for identifying problematic gaming behaviors among students with VI.Gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) is a versatile biomaterial that has been used in various biomedical fields. UV light is commonly used to photocrosslink such materials; however, its use has raised several biosafety concerns. We investigated the mechanical and biological properties of a visible-wavelength (VW)-light-crosslinked gelatin-based hydrogel to evaluate its viability as a scaffold for bone regeneration in bone-destructive disease treatment. Irgacure2959 or riboflavin was added as a photoinitiator to create GelMA solutions. GelMA solutions were poured into a mold and exposed to either UV or VW light. KUSA-A1 cell-laden GelMA hydrogels were crosslinked and then cultured. Mechanical characterization revealed that the stiffness range of GelMA-RF hydrogel was suitable for osteoblast differentiation. KUSA-A1 cells encapsulated in GelMA hydrogels photopolymerized with VW light displayed significantly higher cell viability than cells encapsulated in hydrogels photopolymerized with UV light. We also show that the expression of osteogenesis-related genes at a late stage of osteoblast differentiation in osteoblasts encapsulated in GelMA-RF hydrogel was markedly increased under osteoblast differentiation-inducing conditions. The GelMA-RF hydrogel served as an excellent scaffold for the encapsulation of osteoblasts. GelMA-RF hydrogel-encapsulated osteoblasts have the potential not only to help regenerate bone mass but also to treat complex bone defects associated with bone-destructive diseases such as periodontitis.
