Most of the pelagic and benthic mesocosm designs involve consideration of interactions within the water columns, between water and sediments, trophic levels, and nutrient rivalry. Mesocosm structures are built considering physical processes (tidal currents, turbulence, inner cycling of nutrients, thermal stratification, and mixing), biological complexities (population, community, and ecosystem) using appropriate filling containers, and sampling facilities that employ inert materials. However, water pollution is currently among the major environmental challenges and has attracted increasing study attention. How to handle contaminated water now mainly focuses on removing or reducing the pollutants from the wastewater. Cyclodextrin derivatives, possessing external hydrophilic and internal hydrophobic properties, have been recognized as new-generation adsorbents to exert positive effects on water pollution treatment. This article outlines recent contributions of cyclodextrin-based adsorbents on wastewater treatment, highlighting different adsorption mechanisms of cyclodextrin-based adsorbents under different influencing factors. The crosslinked and immobilized cyclodextrin-based adsorbents all displayed outstanding adsorption capacities. Particularly, according to specific pollutants including metal ions, organic chemicals, pesticides, and drugs in wastewater, this article has classified and organized various cyclodextrin-based adsorbents into tables, which could pave an intuitive shortcut for designing and developing efficient cyclodextrin-based adsorbents for targeted wastewater pollutants. Besides, this article specially discusses cost-effectiveness and regeneration performance of current cyclodextrin-based adsorbents. Here, we examined the behavioral alterations by constructing an animal model with chemically induced unilateral labyrinthectomy (UL). In the experiment using rats (26 for UL, 14 for volume cavity, 355-498 g, male), the models were initially evaluated by the rota-rod (RR) test (21/26, 80.8%) and ocular displacement (23/26, 88.5%). The duration on the rolling rod decreased from 234.71 ± 64.25 s (4th trial before UL) to 11.81 ± 17.94 s (1st trial after UL). Also, the ocular skewed deviation (OSD) was observed in the model with left (5.79 ± 3.06°) and right lesion (3.74 ± 2.69°). Paw distance (PW) was separated as the front (FPW) and the hind side (HPW), and the relative changes of HPW (1.71 ± 1.20 cm) was larger than those of FPW (1.39 ± 1.06 cm), providing a statistical significance (p = 1.51 × 10-4, t test). Moreover, the results of the RR tests matched to those of the changing rates (18/21, 85.7%), and the changes (16/18, 88.9%) were dominantly observed in HPW (in FPW, 2/18, 11.1%). Current results indicated that the UL directly affected the changes in HPW more than those in FPW. In conclusion, the missing neural information from the peripheral vestibular system caused the abnormal posture in HPW, and the postural instability might reduce the performance during the voluntary movement shown in the RR test, identifying the relation between the walking imbalance and the unstable posture in PW. Graphical abstract.We aim to generate a dilemma for virtual reality-based research that we motivate through an extended case study of Thomson's (Yale Law J 94(6)1395-1415, 1985) Bridge variant of the trolley problem. Though the problem we generate applies more broadly than the Bridge problem, we believe it makes a good exemplar of the kind of case we believe is problematic. First, we argue that simulations of these thought experiments run into a practicality horn that makes it practically impossible to produce them. These problems revolve around concepts that we call "perspectival fidelity" and "context realism." Moral dilemmas that include features present in the Bridge variant will, as a result, be practically impossible to simulate. We also argue that, should we be wrong about the practical impossibility of creating a VR simulation of Bridge, such a simulation must face an ethical horn which renders these simulations ethically impermissible to develop or use. For these reasons, we argue that it is virtually impossible to simulate the bridge problem (and other thought experiments with similar features) both practically and ethically in VR.

Kangaroo mother care (KMC) uptake is low despite KMC being an evidence based tool to decrease neonatal mortality. It is important that local strategies be developed to enhance KMC usage. This study aimed to assess the effect of implementing an education protocol on the usage of KMC in the NICU and at home after discharge.

Preterm mother-infant dyads admitted to the NICU were enrolled prospectively. In initial 3mo, baseline data on KMC usage in the unit and at home after discharge was collected. In the next three months, a KMC education protocol consisting of one-to-one counseling, education and sensitization of the mother and family members regarding benefits and procedure of KMC and focussed group discussions was implemented such that it became a unit work protocol. In the next 3 mo, data on KMC usage in the unit and at home after discharge was again collected and compared with the baseline data.
