Greywater, the wastewater from sinks, showers and laundry, is an understudied environment for bacterial communities. Most greywater studies focus on quantifying pathogens, often via proxies used in other wastewater, like faecal indicator bacteria; there is a need to identify more greywater-appropriate surrogates, like Staphylococcus sp. Sequencing-based studies have revealed distinct communities in different types of greywater as well as in different parts of greywater infrastructure, including biofilms on pipes, holding tanks and filtration systems. A Delphi panel was formed and questions sent and answered via email about field of expertise (anatomy, oral surgery/oral and maxillofacial (OMF) surgery, oral radiology/OMF radiology, plastic surgery, ENT surgery, or dentistry with the exception of oral/OMF surgery and oral/OMF radiology), years of experience in the field of expertise, country currently working in, "what is the name of the bony canal that contains the inferior alveolar neurovascular bundle," and "what should the structure above be called, in general?" A total of 52 participants responded to the questionnaire. Half or more of the experts in anatomy, oral/OMF surgery, and ENT/plastic surgery considered "mandibular canal" to be the most appropriate name for this bony canal. In contrast, more than half of all experts in oral/OMF radiology and dentistry, that is, most fields of dentistry, considered "either mandibular canal or inferior alveolar canal" to be the appropriate name. Low cAMP in male fetuses cord blood has been linked to poorer perinatal outcomes; however, cAMP placental content and its relationship with immune factors and fetal sex in an infectious condition have not been investigated.

We performed a chamber study in which we measured the emissions from EODs used with lemon, lavender, eucalyptus, and grapeseed oils. Over the course of 15 min, the most abundant VOCs released from lemon, lavender, eucalyptus, and grapeseed oils were 2.6 ± 0.7 mg of d-limonene, 3.5 ± 0.4 mg of eucalyptol, 1.0 ± 0.1 mg of linalyl acetate, and 0.2 ± 0.02 mg of linalyl acetate, respectively. Each oil had a unique particulate matter (PM) emission profile in terms of size, number density, and rate. The dominant size ranges of the PM were 10-100 nm for lemon oil, 50-100 nm for lavender oil, 10-50 nm for lemon oil, and above 200 nm for grapeseed oil. PM1 emission rates of approximately 2 mg/h, 0.1 mg/h, and 3 mg/h, were observed for lemon, lavender/eucalyptus, and grapeseed oils, respectively. A fivefold increase in PM1 emission was measured when the EOD with eucalyptus oil was filled with tap water as opposed to deionized water. Modeling suggests that reasonable use cases of EODs can contribute substantially to primary and secondary PM in indoor environments, but this potential varies depending on the oil and water types used.

Aspirin desensitization followed by daily aspirin use is an effective treatment for aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD).

To assess clinical features as well as genetic, immune, cytological and biochemical biomarkers that might predict a positive response to high-dose aspirin therapy in AERD.

We enrolled 34 AERD patients with severe asthma who underwent aspirin desensitization followed by 52-week aspirin treatment (650mg/d). At baseline and at 52weeks, clinical assessment was performed; phenotypes based on induced sputum cells were identified; eicosanoid, cytokine and chemokine levels in induced sputum supernatant were determined; and induced sputum expression of 94 genes was assessed. Responders to high-dose aspirin were defined as patients with improvement in 5-item Asthma Control Questionnaire score, 22-item Sino-Nasal Outcome Test (SNOT-22) score and forced expiratory volume in 1 second at 52weeks.

There were 28 responders (82%). Positive baseline predictors of response included female sex (p = .002), higher SNOT-22 score (p = .03), higher blood eosinophil count (p = .01), lower neutrophil percentage in induced sputum (p = .003), higher expression of the hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase gene, HPGD (p = .004) and lower expression of the proteoglycan 2 gene, PRG2 (p = .01). The best prediction model included Asthma Control Test and SNOT-22 scores, blood eosinophils and total serum immunoglobulin E. Responders showed a marked decrease in sputum eosinophils but no changes in eicosanoid levels.

However, there is evidence that the use of anaesthetics may accelerate the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. The effect of Dex on PD remains unclear. Here, we cultured the all-trans-retinoicacid (ATRA) differentiated SH-SY5Y cells in vitro and then treated with MPP+ (1.5mM) with or without Dex (10nM) or Dex combined with Atipamezole (Ati,100nM, adrenergic α2 receptor inhibitor). The ratio of apoptotic cells, mitochondrial membrane potential (Δψm), reactive oxygen species (ROS), cell cycle and apoptotic markers (Cleaved caspase-3, 9) were analysed by flow cytometry and immunofluorescence. We found that the levels of apoptotic ratio and cleaved caspase-3, 9 increased, ROS accumulated, and mitochondrial membrane potential decreased after MPP+treatment, while these changes were partially reversed by Dex. Dex also prevented MPP+ induced cell arrest by increasing G1 phase cells, decreasing S phase cells, and decreasing the expression of cyclinD1 and Cdk4. Moreover the effects of Dex were partially reversed by Ati. These findings reveal that Dex attenuated MPP+ -induced apoptosis of SH-SY5Y cells by preventing the loss of Δψm, reducing ROS, and regulating the cell cycle. Our findings indicated that Dex is more likely to be a potential drug for the treatment of PD.

Esophageal histology is critical for diagnosis and surveillance of disease activity in eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). A validated noninvasive biomarker has not been identified. We aimed to determine the utility of blood and urine eosinophil-associated proteins to diagnose EoE and predict esophageal eosinophilia.

Blood and urine were collected from children undergoing endoscopy with biopsy. Absolute eosinophil count (AEC), plasma eosinophil-derived neurotoxin (EDN), eosinophil cationic protein (ECP), major basic protein-1 (MBP-1), galectin-10 (CLC/GAL-10), Eotaxin-2 and Eotaxin-3, and urine osteopontin (OPN) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) were determined. Differences were assessed between EoE and control, and with treatment response. The capacity to predict EoE diagnosis and esophageal eosinophil counts was assessed.

Of 183 specimens were collected from 56 EoE patients and 15 non-EoE controls with symptoms of esophageal dysfunction; 33 EoE patients had paired pre- and post-treatment specimens. Plasma (CLC/GAL-10, ECP, EDN, Eotaxin-3, MBP-1) and urine (OPN) biomarkers were increased in EoE compared to control.
