Viewing different TWAS methods from an MR perspective provides us a unique angle for understanding their benefits and pitfalls. We systematically introduce the MR analysis framework, explain how features of the GWAS and expression data influence the adaptation of MR for TWAS, and re-interpret the modeling assumptions made in different TWAS methods from an MR angle. We finally describe future directions for TWAS methodology development.

We hope that this review would serve as a useful reference for both methodologists who develop TWAS methods and practitioners who perform TWAS analysis.

Factors that expose HCWs to a differentially high-risk of COVID-19 acquisition are important to elucidate, enable appropriate public health interventions to mitigate against high risk and reduce adverse outcomes from the infection. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to summarize and critically analyze the existing evidence on SARS-CoV-2 risk factors among HCWs. With no geographical limitation, we included studies, in any country, that reported (i) the PCR laboratory diagnosis of COVID-19 as an independent variable (ii) one or more COVID-19 risk factors among HCWs with risk estimates (relative risk, odds ratio, or hazard ratio) (iii) original, quantitative study design, and published in English or Mandarian. Our initial search resulted in 470 articles overall, however, only 10 studies on.

In this study, seven 5- and 2-thioate derivatives of 1, 3, 4-thiadiazoles were synthesized by substitution reaction using acetone as solvent and K2CO3 as a base. The compounds ware then characterized by using IR and NMR spectroscopy. The diuretic activity of the compounds was evaluated on Swiss albino mice by measuring urine volume, urinary pH, and urinary Na+, K+, and Cl-. The result showed increase in urinary excretion of both water and electrolytes. 5-Methyl-substituted derivatives of 1, 3, 4-thiadiazoles showed significant increase in excretion of both water and electrolytes when they are compared to both negative control and 5-amino-substituted derivatives. The highest diuretic activity (0.82) was recorded for para-nitro-substituted benzene ring at 2-thioate group of 5-methyl-1, 3, 4-thiadiazole, while the least (0.56) was recorded for propanethioate group at 2nd position and amine group at 5th position of 1, 3, 4-thiadiazole. The finding of the present study showed that all the compounds have diuretic activity and 5-methyl derivatives of 1, 3, 4-thiadiazoles exhibited significant diuretic activity. In the terrestrial ecosystem, vegetation is the important component of exchanging of water and energy in biogeochemical and climate cycle. A study was conducted to detect the vegetation cover change at Az Zakhnuniyah island by using remote sensing techniques. It includes vegetation analysis using normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) while comparing with climatological data including temperature, humidity, and precipitation. A clear trend was seen in climatological parameters where temperature and humidity were rising decade by decade although NDVI did not show. In addition, increasing soil salinization over the years was observed when soil salinity index was used. NDVI-based long-term decadal analysis on vegetation cover based on Landsat surface reflectance data showed increase of vegetation cover which was also linked to precipitation trends. Also, the short-term demi-decadal comparison using PROBA-V showed the vegetation cover reduction between 2015 and 2019. Nevertheless, the sea level surrounding the island also showed an increasing trend of 0.34 cm/y, which could be the cause of inundation in some parts of the island in future. Furthermore, all these trends need to be observed in entirety as many of those trends can be interlinked.A high-performance liquid chromatographic method coupled with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for the analysis of blonanserin and its active metabolite, N-desethyl blonanserin, in rat plasma has been developed and validated. The biological samples were treated by simple direct protein precipitation before separation on an Agilent Eclipse Plus C18 column (4.6 × 100 mm, 3.5 μm) with a column temperature of 35°C at a flow rate of 0.5 mL/min. The mobile phase A is a mixture of methanol and water (75  25, v/v, 5 mM ammonium formate), and the mobile phase B is acetonitrile containing 0.1% formic acid. The ratio of mobile phase A to mobile phase B is 15  85. Electrospray ionization (ESI) multiple reaction monitoring modes are used for detection, which are m/z 368.10 ⟶ 296.90 (blonanserin), m/z 340.15 ⟶ 297.05(N-desethyl blonanserin), and m/z 348.15⟶ 302.05 (N-desethyl blonanserin-d8). The linear response range was 0.1-100.0 ng/mL for blonanserin and N-desethyl blonanserin. The lower limit of quantification (LLOQ), calibration curves, carryover, and matrix effects were sufficiently accurate and precise according to the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) guidelines for bioanalytical method validation. This analytical method was successfully applied in a blonanserin-poloxamer thermosensitive gel pharmacokinetic study in rats.

Globally among bariatric procedures, SG popularity has grown significantly. New complications arise as a result of the rapid growth in the numbers of LSG. Once SG has been performed, the stomach is left with no fixations along the entire greater curvature, which may predispose to volvulus.

. The 44-year-old patient had laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy 2 years and 6 months before presentation in our emergent department complaining of episodic intolerance to oral intake for 3 months before presentation. Gastrografin swallow study showed gastric outlet obstruction. The patient was taken to the operation room for laparoscopic exploration, gastric untwisting.

This case highlights a rare complication of SG which has been inconsistently addressed in the literature. Awareness of such complications would help surgeons to widen their differential diagnosis of postoperative sleeve gastrectomy early complications to manage them effectively. The video of the procedure showing the intraoperative finding can be accessed at.

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a noninflammatory disorder of the nervous system characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain and somatic complaints of at least 3 months duration. There are no current diagnostic criteria for fibromyalgia in children to guide clinicians in recognition, thus leading to many subspecialty referrals and extensive imaging and tests. The purpose of this retrospective review is to compare two diagnostic criteria for juvenile fibromyalgia.

A retrospective chart review of 20 children diagnosed with juvenile fibromyalgia from a singular pain physician practice was performed. Both the Yunus diagnostic criteria and the 2016 American College of Rheumatology (ACR) diagnostic criteria were applied and compared.

85% of patients met criteria for fibromyalgia under both criteria. 15% of patients met only ACR criteria as the Yunus criteria excluded those with underlying conditions. Of the children who fulfilled criteria with use of both diagnostic tools, this cohort reported a high somatic symptom burden as demonstrated by the ACR symptom severity scales of 12 and satisfaction of at least 4 Yunus and Masi minor criteria on average. Widespread pain was noted with an ACR Widespread Pain Index (WPI) of 7, and tender points were 4.8 on average across the cohort. Effective therapeutic regimens among patients varied widely from medical monotherapy to multimodal treatment. Patients presented with pain for 1.8 yrs on average prior to a diagnosis. All of the cohort had a normal laboratory evaluation; half the cohort received additional imaging and testing.

This case series suggests the need for an updated diagnostic tool for pediatric fibromyalgia to facilitate recognition and treatment.

To introduce a new method for treating irido-corneal adhesion (ICA) by using argon laser.

. A 60-year-old woman with advanced glaucoma who is undergoing trabeculectomy. In follow-up visits, choroidal effusion and iridocorneal adhesion were seen in the examination. The massive choroidal effusion was treated with medical therapy. In further follow-up examination, ICA was repaired with argon laser.

Early laser treatment prior to surgical management is suggested in postoperative synechia.

Early argon laser synechiolysis is a less-invasive procedure which prevents probable surgical complications such as local detachment of Descemet's membrane or bleeding in surgical synechiolysis.

A 79-year-old postmenopausal woman had multiple cerebral infarctions with a giant pelvic tumor detected by computed tomography. Ovarian cancer with Trousseau's syndrome was suspected. Through laparoscopic biopsy on the tumor surface, she was diagnosed with left ovarian fibrosarcoma; although, the abdominal cavity could not be observed appropriately. Ovarian fibrosarcoma is an extremely rare tumor and still has no adequate treatment strategy. Complete resection was planned. The tumor was extremely fragile, and gelatinous that it easily bled. Meanwhile, the uterus and bilateral ovaries and fallopian tubes were all normal. JAK Inhibitor I molecular weight The tumor invaded only the peritoneum near the left sacral uterine ligament and sigmoid colon, with no peritoneal dissemination. To completely remove the tumor, we performed total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and omentectomy and sigmoidal and rectal resection with colostomy. Despite resuming her anticoagulant therapy on postoperative day 4, she had recurrent multiple strokes. On histopathological examination, tumor showed spindle cell proliferation with severe atypia, increased mitotic activity, and widespread necrosis. Immunohistochemical studies showed positive staining for c-kit, CD34, and DOG1. Thus, she was diagnosed with GIST. This case was rare and highly malignant, with a high risk of recurrence of GIST because of a giant ruptured tumor that had a mitotic activity of 36/10 high-power fields from the sigmoid colon. Multiple cerebral infarctions mimicking ovarian cancer recurred. Therefore, preoperative diagnosis of an atypical GIST was extremely difficult.
