It is hypothesized that unrealistically positive attitudes toward women may lead to rejection and frustration, which may influence sexual offending.
To review the therapeutic strategy in Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) treated with radiotherapy (RT) discussed in a multidisciplinary tumour board.
Clinical records of patients with a diagnosis of MCC and with an indication to undergo RT at the European Institute of Oncology between 2003 and 2018 were reviewed retrospectively.
Twenty-six patients were included in the analysis (median age 65 years, range 42-87). Nineteen received adjuvant RT, 4 exclusive RT, and the remainder palliative RT. Intensity-modulated RT was used in 13 cases, a 3D conformal technique in 11 cases, and stereotactic RT in 2 cases. No major toxicities were recorded. The median relapse-free survival (RFS) after adjuvant RT was 20.5 months, while for unknown primary MCC, it was 23 months. In the adjuvant setting, median polyomavirus-positive RFS was 21.5 months (range 1-49) and median polyomavirus-negative RFS was only 14 months (range 4-45). Overall, RFS of polyomavirus-positive and polyomavirus-negative patients was 10.5 and 8 months, respectively. After adjuvant RT, only 1 out of 10 patients had a recurrence in the RT field. At the time of data collection, 16 patients were alive with no evidence of disease, 1 patient was alive with advanced status of disease, 8 patients died of disease progression, and 1 patient died of other causes.
The management of unknown primary and polyomavirus-positive cases, which had a better prognosis in our series, may benefit from a multidisciplinary approach, given the limited data available regarding optimal treatment.

CircPVT1 was identified as a tumor-promoted circRNA that is upregulated in several cancers. We researched clinical significance of circPVT1 in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who received cisplatin combined with gemcitabine chemotherapy.
Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction assays were performed to detect circPVT1 expression in 96 patients with NSCLC. In addition, Kaplan-Meier methods were performed to analyze survival of patients with NSCLC.
There is no significant difference between circPVT1 and age, sex, histologic type, lymphatic invasion, or vascular invasion in patients with NSCLC and there is significant difference between circPVT1 and differentiation or p-TNM stage in patients with NSCLC. In addition, after cisplatin combined with gemcitabine chemotherapy, circPVT1 expression was decreased, and circPVT1 expression in the chemotherapy-resistant group was higher than in the chemotherapy-sensitive group. Survival of patients with NSCLC was associated with high circPVT1 e after receiving chemotherapy by detecting the expression of circRNA in serum.
The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges experienced by parents of emerging young adults (EYAs) with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) who completed their freshman or sophomore year of college.
Using a descriptive, qualitative design, 16 parents participated in semistructured interviews that explored factors impacting the college transition for parents of college freshmen and sophomores with T1DM. Participants were recruited from local endocrinology clinics as well as the College Diabetes Network (CDN) Parent Facebook page, the CDN Facebook page, the CDN Twitter feed, and the Delaware Chapter of the JDRF (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). Researchers used a thematic analysis to analyze the data and develop categories. Interviews were conducted and recorded via video conferencing from July 2019 to September 2019.
Results represent data from 16 interviews comprising 15 (94%) mothers and 1 father. Thematic analysis resulted in the emergence of 3 themes managing parental concerns, changes in the parental role, and identifying sources of parental support. Parents identified several challenges including the EYAs' ability to manage T1DM at college, communication with the EYA, and the availability of support for parents.
Parents experience several challenges during their EYA's transition to college with T1DM. Supporting the needs of parents and EYAs during this time may serve to reduce diabetes-related complications for EYAs and increase overall quality of life for both members of the dyad.

Inhibition of the pathways involving programmed cell death receptor 1 (PD-1) and its ligand (PD-L1) has gained favor in anticancer therapy, and can effectively prolong the survival of patients with cancer; however, numerous patients have PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor primary resistance. The efficacy of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy is related to the host tumor microenvironment. Radiation therapy can promote the body's antitumor immunity, change the tumor microenvironment, and synergize with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 treatment. Preclinical and clinical trials have shown that PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor combined with radiotherapy has a significant effect. We review the synergistic antitumor mechanism and clinical trials of radiotherapy combined with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy.Determining the rate and severity of injuries incurred through sport is accepted as the primary step towards designing, implementing and evaluating injury prevention programmes. The aim of this study was to determine the injury incidence rate and characteristics of male field hockey athletes participating in the Irish Hockey League. Athletes from eight field hockey teams were assigned to an online reporting system, where they logged injuries as they were incurred. Injuries were defined as any physical complaint. Coaches and physiotherapists were contacted weekly to corroborateinjuries. Overall 323 injuries were reported across 34,449 exposure hours, giving rise to an incidence rate of 9.4/1000 h. On average, athletes sustained one injury over the course of two seasons. Muscle strains, pain and contusions were the most common types of injury, while the hamstring, knee and hip/groin were the most frequently reported locations. While 66.9% of injuries occurred through non-contact mechanisms, contact injuries were also common.
