This shows that the established mining land subsidence evaluation method based on the cloud model in this study is reasonable and feasible. The mining width and height ratio, depth and height ratio, and coal seam dip angle affect mining land subsidence. Therefore, improving the mining method to deal with the goaf reasonably and optimizing the mining design to control the influence range of mining are essential measures to reduce mining land subsidence and protect the ecological environment of mining areas. The present study aimed to evaluate the possible association between coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and latent Toxoplasma gondii infection in a group of patients and healthy individuals. Blood samples were obtained from 269 PCR-positive COVID-19 patients. The serum was separated and tested for the existence of anti-T. gondii antibodies (IgG) using a commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit. The prevalence of latent toxoplasmosis between a subgroup of the patients (aged under 55 years old) and COVID-19 negative individuals was compared. Anti-T. gondii antibodies were found in 226/269 (84.0%) patients with COVID-19. Anti-Toxoplasma antibodies were detected in 72/91 (79.1%) cases and 96/123 (78.0%) COVID-19 negative individuals (odd ratio = 1.1; 95% confidence interval 0.55-2.07, P = 0.85). The median and interquartile range (IQR) of the IgG titer were not statistically significant different between case (97.3 [31.0-133.5]) and control groups (34.4 [13.0-144.5]) (P = 0.10). These findings demonstrated that latent Toxoplasma infection is prevalent amongst the COVID-19 patients. It also did not find any significant association between chronic toxoplasmosis and COVID-19.

Patients with cancer and cancer survivors commonly rely upon family members and friends to act as caregivers to help manage cancer treatment and the late effects of that treatment. Informal caregivers provide a variety of supportive functions for cancer patients, including emotional, informational, and functional support, and practical assistance with skilled care activities.

We examined predictors of unhealthy physical and mental days among informal cancer caregivers. Unhealthy days are an estimate of the overall number of days during the previous 30days when the respondent felt that either his or her physical or mental health was not good.

Data were used from the 2019 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), a cross-sectional, population-based study. The participants were adults aged ≥ 18years who provided regular care or assistance to a friend or family member who had cancer in the past 30days.

On average, caregivers who had a household income of less than $25,000 per year reported more ial resources.

The macro/micro-morphology of nutlets in 11 species (and 22 accessions) of the Boraginaceae family was investigated using stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscopy to evaluate the taxonomic relevance of the traits. To evaluate the phylogenetic significance of the character evolution, phylogenetic analysis was carried out by comparing available DNA sequence data from GenBank with selected original nutlet data.

The Rochelieae nutlets' shape varied from ovoid (ovoid, ovoid-triangular, and ovoid-rectangular) to pyramid. Six major patterns were recognized based on the nutlet ultrastructure characters. Rocheliae is characterized by a transition from "without appendage" to "with tubercles and prickles" on the nutlet disk, and also via a shift from "lack of prickles" to "glossy prickles".

The results show that the nutlet ultrastructure pattern of Rochelieae is systematically informative at the genus level, but not at the species level. Findings demonstrated that glochid is not an ancestral trait but is a synapomorphy and the transition to this trait occurred in the genus Lappula. The close boundary of nutlet microstructures between L. barbata and L. microcarpa has been discussed.

In a large cohort of stable kidney transplant recipients (KTR, n = 686), high plasma and low urinary concentrations of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), an abundant PTM metabolite of Arg, were associated with cardiovascular and all-cause mortality. Thus, the prediction of the same biomarker regarding mortality may depend on the biological sample. In another large cohort of stable KTR (n = 555), higher plasma concentrations of Nε-carboxymethyl-lysine (CML) and Nε-carboxyethyl-lysine (CEL), two advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) of Lys, were associated with higher cardiovascular mortality. Yet, the associations of urinary AGEs with mortality are unknown. In the present study, we measured 24 h urinary excretion of Lys, CML, and furosine in 630 KTR and 41 healthy kidney donors before and after donation. Our result indicate that lower urinary CML and lower furosine excretion rates are associated with higher mortality in KTR, thus resembling the associations of ADMA. Lower furosine excretion rates were also associated with higher cardiovascular mortality. The 24 h urinary excretion rate of amino acids and their metabolites decreased post-donation (varying as little as - 24% for CEL, and as much as - 62% for ADMA). For most amino acids, the excretion rate was lower in KTR than in donors pre-donation [except for S-(1-carboxyethyl)-L-cysteine (CEC) and NG-carboxyethylarginine (CEA)]. Simultaneous GC-MS measurement of free amino acids, their PTM metabolites and AGEs in urine is a non-invasive approach in kidney transplantation.Highly pathogenic H5Nx avian influenza viruses constantly threaten the poultry industry and humans and have pandemic potential. These viruses continuously evolve, requiring a universal vaccine to protect chickens from members of diverse clades. The purpose of this study was to develop an H5 cleavage-site peptide vaccine containing polybasic amino acids (RRRK) to completely protect chickens from H5N6, H5N8, and H5N1 avian influenza viruses. Chickens were immunized with various doses of a keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH)-conjugated H5 cleavage-site peptide vaccine containing RRRK. The effect of RRRK was evaluated by comparing the survival rates of chickens immunized with vaccines either containing or lacking RRRK. The ability of the RRRK-containing vaccine to confer long-term protective immunity was also assessed. We found that protection was dependent on the number of antigens in the vaccine containing RRRK. Chickens immunized intramuscularly with two doses of 5 μg of the vaccine containing RRRK were completely protected, but those immunized with fewer than two doses of 3 or 1 μg were not protected. Chickens immunized with the vaccine lacking RRRK were not protected, suggesting the importance of the polybasic amino acids in conferring immunity. Our results suggest that conserved H5 cleavage-site peptides with polybasic amino acids may be a potential universal vaccine to protect chickens from various emerging clades of H5Nx avian influenza viruses.

To evaluate the measurement properties of a new version of the Swedish Knee Self-Efficacy Scale (K-SES) in samples of individuals with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and after ACL reconstruction. A secondary aim was to translate the new version of K-SES into English in order to prepare for future complete cross-cultural adaptation.

The reliability, structural validity, internal consistency and construct validity of the new, 18-item version of the K-SES (K-SES

) were assessed according to the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) checklist for evaluating methodological quality. The Swedish version of the K-SES

was translated to English using recommended guidelines.

The test-retest reliability for the K-SES

subscale present and the K-SES

subscale future showed an Interclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) = 0.92. In addition, the K-SES

had a Cronbach's α ranging from 0.93 to 0.96 for the K-SES

subscale present and from 0.81 to 0.91 for the K-SES

subscale future. No floor and ceiling effects were identified for the subscale present or the subscale future of the K-SES

. A factor analysis produced 2 factors of importance; K-SES

present and K-SES

future. Seven predefined hypotheses were confirmed.

The K-SES

has acceptable reliability and validity to assess knee self-efficacy in patients up to 18 months after ACL injury and reconstruction.

Exosomal Phospho-Tau-181(P-T181-tau), Total tau (T-tau), and amyloid-β peptide 42 (Aβ42) have been proved the capacity for the amnestic mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). This study aimed to explore the cognitive function and the levels of P-T181-tau, T-tau, and Aβ42 in neuronal-derived exosomes (NDEs) extracted from plasma in normal cognitive adults over 45years old with olfactory dysfunction.

A cross-sectional survey of 29 participants aged over 45 was conducted. Plasma exosomes were isolated, precipitated, and enriched by immuno-absorption with anti- L1 cell adhesion molecule (L1CAM) antibody. NDEs were characterized by CD81, and extracted NDE protein (P-T181-tau, T-tau, and Aβ42) biomarkers were quantified by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISAs). Olfactory performance was assessed by Sniffin' Sticks and cognitive performance was assessed by Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA).

There was no significant difference between adults with olfactory dysfuncels of P-T181-tau and T-tau in plasma NDEs.

This study demonstrated that cognition-related pathogenic proteins including P-T181-tau in plasma NDEs were significantly increased in adults over 45 years old with olfactory dysfunction before the occurrence of cognitive impairment. The impaired odor identification and the delayed recall function were highly associated with the increased levels of P-T181-tau and T-tau in plasma NDEs.

Prolonged need for mechanical ventilation greatly impacts life expectancy of patients after spinal cord injury (SCI). Weaning outcomes have never been systematically assessed. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we aimed to investigate the probability of weaning success, duration of mechanical ventilation, mortality, and their predictors in mechanically ventilated patients with SCI.

We searched six databases from inception until August 2021 for randomized-controlled trials and observational studies enrolling adult patients (≥ 16years) with SCI from any cause requiring mechanical ventilation. Titles and abstracts were screened independently by two reviewers. Full texts of the identified articles were then assessed for eligibility. Data were extracted independently and in duplicate by pairs of authors, using a standardized data collection form. Synthetic results are reported as meta-analytic means and proportions, based on random effects models.

Thirty-nine studies (14,637 patients, mean age 43) were selected.
