03, 95% CI = 3.76-6.62). Disease severity was generally low, with only one admission to an intensive care unit and five deaths. Males with MS had higher incidence rates and risk of hospitalization than females. No association was found between the use of any disease-modifying treatment and hospitalization risk.

Patients with MS do not appear to have greater risks of SARS-CoV-2 infection or severe COVID-19 outcomes compared with the general population. The decision to start or continue disease-modifying treatment should be based on a careful risk-benefit assessment.

A total of 1960 nursing students (Mage = 19.56, SD = 1.13 years) were recruited. Using latent profile analysis, nursing students were classified into four profiles based on their ERS use high reaction profile (HRP; 11.53%), medium reaction profile (MRP; 55.46%), adaptive reaction profile (ARP; 22.86%) and low reaction profile (LRP; 10.15%). This study found that relative to HRP and MRP, ARP and LRP showed a lower incidence of NSSI and alexithymia; HRP and ARP showed a higher level of resilience than MRP and LRP. Furthermore, LRP had the lowest level of resilience. This study highlights the importance of identifying the different ERS profiles among nursing students. Targeted programs are needed to enhance adaptive strategies and reduce maladaptive strategies to improve nursing students' psychological and behavioural performance. The food environment is a major contributor to unhealthy diets in children and, therefore, to the increasing rates of obesity. Acclaimed by scholars across the world, Latin American countries have been leaders in implementing policies that target different aspects of the food environment. Evidence on the nature and to what extent children are exposed and respond to unhealthy food environments in the region and among Latinos in the United States is, however, deficient. The objective of this review is to use the integrated International Network for Food and Obesity/noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) Research, Monitoring and Action Support (INFORMAS) framework to create healthy food environment to (i) compare the key elements of childhood obesity-related food environments in Latin America and for Latinos living in the United States; (ii) describe the evidence on solutions to improve childhood obesity-related food environments; and (iii) identify research priorities to inform solutions to fight childhood obesity in these populations. We found that an integrated body of evidence is needed to inform an optimal package of policies to improve food environments to which children in Latin America and Latino children in the United States are exposed and more efficiently translate policy solutions to help curb growing childhood obesity levels across borders.

Ineffective esophageal motility (IEM) is the most common motility disorder. However, little is known about its pathophysiology. Vagal afferent nerves convey esophageal intraluminal bolus information to solitary nucleus, which is likely to be involved with esophageal primary and secondary peristalsis (SP). We hypothesized that altered mucosal sensory afferents underlie the pathogenesis of IEM.

We prospectively collected esophageal biopsies from 38 patients with proton pump inhibitor-refractory reflux symptoms from January to December 2019. click here All patients underwent high-resolution manometry for the evaluation of primary and secondary peristalsis, and off-PPI 24-h impedance-pH studies. Biopsies were analyzed using immunohistochemistry for identification of calcitonin gene-related peptide-immunoreactive (CGRP-IR) nerves and qPCR for mRNA expression of potential mechanoreceptors.

Overall 32 patients were finally analyzed which consisted of 11 patients with normal motility and 21 patients with IEM. The position of mucosal CGRP-IR nerves from the esophageal lumen did not differ between the two groups (the proximal esophagus (p=0.52), the mid-esophagus (p=0.92), the distal esophagus (p=0.29)) with the similar reflux profile. No difference was seen in the position of CGRP-IR nerves between patients with successful triggering of SP and those unable to trigger SP. There was also no difference in mRNA expression of each potential mechanoreceptors (TRPA1, TRPV1, TRPV4, ASIC1, ASIC3) between the two groups.

Our study showed that mucosal sensory afferents nerve position and mRNA expression of potential mechanoreceptors did not correlate to weak esophageal contraction.

In this context, nutritional challenges such as those found in less developed countries can influence infants' gut microbiota development, thus generating potentially critical health outcomes. However, comprehensive investigations regarding species-level differences in the infant gut microbiota's composition between urbanized and rural countries are still missing. In this study, 16S rRNA and Shallow Shotgun metagenomics sequencing were exploited to dissect the microbial community's species-level composition of 11 faecal samples collected from infants living in a semi-urban area of Sub-Saharan Africa, i.e. Côte d'Ivoire. Moreover, the generated data were coupled with those retrieved from public available metagenomic repositories, including two rural communities and 13 urban communities of industrialized countries. The meta-analysis led to the identification of Infant Species Community States Type (ISCSTs) and microbial species covariances, which were exploited to reveal key signatures of infants living in rural and semi-urban societies.
